VRMMO: World's First Glyphborne-Chapter 150: My Knight in Shining... Wood?
It was absolute chaos! Bodies dropping left and right, people brawling over just the chance to fight a boss that was most likely going to kill them anyways. The thoughts of fame and fortune drove people to absolute madness.
In the flurry of steel, spells and flesh it was almost impossible to tell who you were even fighting or if it was friend or foe.
Belladonna had to find a way out of here. She didn’t care so much about the loot or even killing the boss. All she needed, was a drop of that blood. With even just a drop of that she could be able to- Behind!
Spurred by her senses, and the shift in the mana, Belladonna whipped around and slashed with the blood soaked knife still in her hand. It sliced through the face of the person that had appeared behind her, yet it did so far too easily. As if they weren’t really there and nothing more than an illusion.
"Vez?" Belladonna muttered as she finally got a look at who she had attacked.
It was a ghostly, illusionary copy of her friend, Vestra, constructed out of the same smoke-like substance that curled off of the girl’s hair. Thankfully, Vestra didn’t seem too offended that her friend had tried to cut her face off, which is good. That would have just been awkward.
"Bell!" The ghostly Vestra shouted, her voice carrying a little echo, "We can’t stick around. Hop on! We’re getting out of here."
"Hop on? Hop on what?" Belladonna shouted back over the sounds of chaos around her, but the illusion of Vestra simply dispersed into a cloud of formless smoke. However behind that smoke, Belladonna saw a Triceratops charging directly towards her.
Its body was made entirely of wood, its scales being replaced by lush green leaves and its muscles formed through vines twisted together.
It kept its head down, charging through the crowds with an unstoppable charge, like the force of nature it seemed to be. But just behind the large, protective frill of the Triceratops, Belladonna could see a small wisp of a very familiar smoke.
She immediately burst forwards, charging straight towards the prehistoric tank. It lowered its head, its front horn becoming level with her guts as if it was ready to skewer her.
Belladonna leapt into the air and planted her foot against the Triceratops’ horn just at the same time that it whipped its head up. She was launched into the air, arcing over the charging behemoth.
Then, with a twisting flip to re-orientate herself, Belladonna landed gracefully on the wooden beasts back, right behind its protected rider.
"Hey Vez, Mind if I drop in?"
Vestra looked over her shoulder with a childish pout, "Hey! I was gonna say that! You totally stole my joke!"
Belladonna laughed as she kept herself in a crouch on the Triceratops’ back,
"Sorry, I couldn’t resist. It was just right there. Where did you get this thing anyways? There’s no way this was a quest reward or something, right? Please don’t tell me this is your familiar..."
"My what? No, this is Figg! Its a daily skill that he got with his new race. Pretty figging cool right?" She said with a giggle, a little smug that she finally got to say a good joke, even if it was one that she stole.
Figg the Triceratops let out an annoyed huff, bucking his back slightly to make Vestra bounce against his frill, before focusing on his charge. If he lost his footing now, then it was over for them all.
Belladonna let out a small chuckle at their antics, having missed working with the two of them even if it had only been a week, maybe less, since she saw them last.
Her eyes moved out to the crowds, scanning through the chaos looking for potential dangers and opportunities. On multiple occasions she had to snatch arrows out of the air, just before they hit Vestra or herself.
Some were more accurate than others, from actually skilled archers taking calculated shots instead of idiots letting loose as many shots as possible in the hopes that one would hit.
A hint of white in the corner of her eye caught her attention, causing Belladonna to whip around and search the crowd for it again. It didn’t take her long to find what she was looking for, considering that tiny tuft of white was standing by a towering Demoness in pitch black armour that perfectly showed off her abs.
The Demoness in question was currently laughing maniacally, as spears and arrows shattered against those abs of steel, as players desperately tried to shoot for her ’weak spot’.
While their attention was on her wonderful muscles, it gave Lilith plenty of opportunity to crush their puny little heads.
"NO ONE TOUCHES THE FLUFF BUT ME!" She roared at the top of her lungs, cleaving through the would-be attackers with her serrated axe. The evil black aura poured from her skin like sweat, clinging tight to her body as it became thicker than ever.
This type of battle was basically like grinding to her. Plenty of opportunity to spill some blood, display her strength and show her dedication to her adorable fluff ball. What was not to love?
With every idiot that threw themselves at her, she only grew stronger. Even if they managed to get through her defences, that’s where her adorable fluff ball came in.
Just as a few players had managed to build up some wounds on her, even if they were superficial at best a miraculous white light surrounded Lilith. Before their eyes, her wounds pulled themselves closed as Lilith was restored to her perfect fighting condition once more.
The players hearts sank at the sight, all of their morale bleeding from their bodies as their opponent was restored to perfection once more.
They knew the source of it, as it wasn’t the first time this had happened. But they had been hoping that it was just a one time heal.
All of their eyes trailed down to the source of the healing, to the fluff ball that the Demoness was roaring about.
Curled around her feet, and giving them a smug look, was an absolutely adorable, small fox with pure white fur. A pet that could heal, that’s what it had to be. At least that’s what they thought.
And while some wanted to kill the little fox for getting in their ways, others had much greedier thoughts in mind. The only problem was getting past the Fox’s defender.
