Walker Of The Worlds-Chapter 3560: Miyeon’s Administrative Skill
Lin Mu and his companions remained seated in the reception hall for a short while after the discussion concluded. At first, they expected Huli Zu to make arrangements quickly so they could depart for the capital city, but it soon became clear that something else was happening.
Or rather, someone else was working.
Huli Miyeon had returned to a large desk near the far end of the hall, where an intimidating stack of documents, scrolls, and jade slips had been piled high. It looked less like the work of a single administrator and more like the backlog of an entire government office.
Yet she sat there calmly.
And then she began to work.
Within minutes, Lin Mu and the others started to notice something.
While Huli Zu held the title of Lord of the Teleportation Hall, it was painfully obvious that Miyeon was the one actually running the place.
Her hands moved across the desk with incredible speed. One hand unrolled scrolls while the other stamped approval seals onto documents. Sometimes she paused to read a passage, sometimes she made a quick correction with a brush, and occasionally she tore up a document entirely before tossing it aside without hesitation.
More impressively, her eyes seemed to move independently.
One eye scanned the text of a scroll while the other reviewed a separate document laid beside it. At one point she was reading three different sheets simultaneously, her gaze flickering between them with astonishing efficiency.
Daoist Chu watched for a few minutes before letting out a quiet whistle.
"That young lady would make an excellent administrator even in the Immortal Courts," he said softly.
Lin Mu nodded in agreement.
"I was thinking the same thing."
The sheer speed and precision of her work was impressive. Each decision was made within seconds. Documents that might take ordinary officials hours to review were processed almost instantly.
Meanwhile, Huli Zu had somehow drifted to the side of the room, looking extremely uninvolved.
Cattaleya leaned slightly toward Lin Mu and muttered under her breath.
"So the fox lord is basically just the mascot."
Lin Mu suppressed a faint smile.
Eventually, Miyeon paused in her work.
She looked up and noticed that the group had been quietly observing her.
Her gaze shifted toward her brother.
Then she spoke calmly.
"Brother."
Huli Zu straightened.
"Yes?"
She gestured slightly toward Lin Mu’s group.
"Why don’t you take our guests on a tour while I finish the remaining documents?"
She held up a stack of papers.
"After all, these are technically your reports."
Huli Zu coughed awkwardly.
"Well... yes... but..."
Miyeon raised a brow.
"You can at least entertain the guests while I finish your work."
Huli Zu let out a nervous laugh.
"Of course. Of course."
He quickly stood up and gestured toward the door.
"Please follow me."
Lin Mu and the others rose from their seats and followed him out of the hall.
The tour turned out to be rather modest.
The residence itself was spacious, but there were not many extravagant attractions. Most of the estate consisted of orderly courtyards, stone pathways, and a few carefully maintained gardens filled with flowering trees.
The air carried a faint fragrance of blossoms.
"It is peaceful," Meng Bai said quietly as they walked along one of the garden paths.
Huli Zu nodded.
"We try to keep things simple here."
Eventually they arrived at one location that immediately caught Lin Mu’s interest.
A large library.
The building was constructed from dark wood with tall windows that allowed sunlight to spill across the interior. Rows of shelves filled the room, stacked with scrolls, books, and jade records.
Lin Mu stepped inside and extended his immortal sense slightly.
Thousands of books.
Many of them were unfamiliar.
Different worlds often developed their own cultivation theories, historical records, and unique practices. Even if the core concepts overlapped, the details could vary greatly.
Lin Mu’s curiosity immediately sparked.
While he did not physically pull out the books, his immortal sense carefully skimmed through several sections of the library. Some texts discussed foxkin cultural traditions, others detailed the geography of the Fox Scion World, and a few contained interesting notes on beastkin bloodlines.
Meanwhile, Meng Bai had noticed something else during their walk through the residence.
He turned toward Huli Zu with a curious expression.
"Lord Huli, may I ask something?"
"Of course."
Meng Bai pointed toward the banners hanging throughout the halls.
"I understand that the banner with the fox head probably represents the kingdom."
Huli Zu nodded.
"That is correct."
"But what about the other banner?" Meng Bai continued. "The one with the cherry blossom and clouds?"
Huli Zu smiled slightly.
"You have a good eye."
He pointed toward one of the banners hanging above the library entrance.
"The fox head banner represents the authority of the Huli Kingdom itself."
"However, the cherry blossom and cloud banner represents something more specific."
He folded his arms casually.
"It identifies our particular branch of the foxkin."
Meng Bai tilted his head.
"Branch?"
"Yes."
Huli Zu nodded.
"Our kind is divided into several branches that handle different responsibilities within the kingdom."
He gestured toward the cherry blossom banner.
"We belong to the Cherry Cloud Branch."
Daoist Chu leaned forward slightly.
"And what does that branch specialize in?"
"Administration," Huli Zu replied.
"Our branch is responsible for managing government affairs, civil administration, and record keeping."
Cattaleya chuckled.
"That explains Miyeon."
Huli Zu sighed.
"Yes. She is... very dedicated."
Meng Bai’s curiosity only grew.
"Are there other branches like that?"
"Many." 𝐟𝚛𝕖𝚎𝕨𝗲𝐛𝚗𝐨𝐯𝐞𝕝.𝐜𝗼𝗺
Huli Zu pointed toward the various banners hanging throughout the building.
"For example, the Military Branch uses a banner showing a mountain with a spear."
"That branch handles defense, armies, and military command."
Daoist Chu nodded thoughtfully.
"That makes sense."
Huli Zu continued.
"The Formation Branch uses a banner showing a scroll with a brush."
"They oversee arrays, teleportation infrastructure, and spatial formations. They often work with us when needed. Some officals are always posted here and are in another building."
Daoist Chu looked very pleased hearing that.
"I would enjoy meeting some of them."
