Wasting Money to Become an Immortal-Chapter 455: River Province
Even though we took the same spiritual boat, I avoided Fan Xiao Yu in the end.
Mu Bao Bao seemed a bit unhappy to see this, but she didn’t say anything about it. Though it almost seemed that she was unhappy that she was spending time away from me, rather than me avoiding Fan Xiao Yu.
At the very least, Liu Ao Xue and the female lackeys stayed with her and Fan Xiao Yu, so that she wouldn’t be alone.
In a way, it was kind of like a small girl’s day.
I could even hear a few discussions that they were having that was similar to what girls would talk about when I was on Earth.
The male lackeys followed me over to where Young Master Yu was, so we wouldn’t be caught up in that.
Young Master Yu still had a bitter look on his face as he asked, "Big Brother Lin, why did you get me caught up in this? I confided in you and you still got me caught up in all of this?"
What he was referring to was naturally Fan Xiao Yu.
He had confided his thoughts on Fan Xiao Yu with me, yet I was dragging him in to be some kind of shield. It would be strange if he didn’t feel bitter about this.
But there was no other way, it was the easiest way to counter her plans.
Even though it did put Young Master Yu in a difficult position, there was no other choice.
This was better than any other method. 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝕨𝕖𝗯𝚗𝚘𝕧𝕖𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝕞
He was just the perfect shield with his status and his relationship with the two of them.
In the end, I just grabbed him by the shoulder and said, "Didn’t you say that you wanted to follow me on the great path of prodigalism? Just consider this as one of the tuition fees that you have to pay."
The bitter smile on Young Master Yu’s face became even more bitter when he heard this, but he didn’t say anything in response.
In terms of shamelessness, he really couldn’t compare.
But shamelessness was also an important part of being a prodigal in the first place, so it did make Young Master Yu admire this big brother of his for his shamelessness.
If Lin Fan knew that, it would be hard to say what he would feel about that.
"So why is it called the River Province?" I said in an attempt to change the topic.
Young Master Yu shook his head as he said, "I don’t know about that either since I don’t go around to the different provinces in the first place. There’s plenty of things to play with in the capital, so I don’t bother learning about the other provinces."
My lip twitched when I heard this and I looked at Young Master Yu with a strange look.
Young Master Yu saw the way that I looked at him, but he didn’t say anything as he just waved his hand at one of his lackeys.
That lackey came over with what seemed to be a large book and then started saying, "The River Province was named as such because of the four rivers that run through the province. The early people of the River Province built along this river and formed the River Kingdom, but they were subdued by the Nine Tails Emperor of several generations back and joined the Nine Tails Empire as the River Province."
I raised a brow when I heard the introduction that the lackey gave.
It seemed that this was the one lackey that Young Master Yu brought along with him to take care of everything.
This lackey was most likely the one lackey that his parents had given him to take care of him, the rest were most likely his muscles.
The lackey continued by introducing the River Province.
Since there were four different rivers that ran through the province, it meant that there was plenty of water for the land and people to develop. It was the province where many of the high grade elixirs were grown and at the same time, it was the place that was filled with the most greenery.
As such, the River Province was considered one of the best vacation spots in all of the Nine Tails Empire.
My lip couldn’t help twitching again when I heard this.
The best vacation spot...
It really sounded like something that Mu Huang would do...
"What about the spirit beasts that suddenly appeared?" I asked this question just in case, though I wasn’t really expecting anything.
The lackey flipped a page in his book and said, "The River Province is a place that is regularly cleared because of the importance that it has in the Nine Tails Empire. It even has an army that is in charge of clearing out spirit beasts on the regular, so that they can’t grow past a certain population."
After saying this, he slightly knitted his brows as he said, "But in recent times, it seems that the population of spirit beasts has been growing at a strange rate. They have been growing faster than they’ve ever been growing before, which has been hard on the forces deployed to keep them in check."
"So that’s why they want us to go to the River Province." Young Master Yu said in a voice that made it seem like he was finally understanding something.
It really was expected of a prodigal like him not to even know why he was being sent out like this.
But what felt strange was why there was a sudden increase in spirit beasts in this area.
Was it because of something that Mu Huang did just to distract Mu Bao Bao?
No, he didn’t seem like someone who would put the lives of his subjects in danger just to distract her.
So there must be some kind of reason for this sudden increase in spirit beasts in this area.
There might even be a chance that it was related to what he was hiding.
There was one person...or one system that I wanted to ask, but the system was quiet.
The system had remained quiet the entire time after coming up to the upper realm.
It seemed like it didn’t matter what I said to the system, it just didn’t respond.
