Wedding Night: My Disabled Husband Made Me Cry-Chapter 164: Love You Very, Very Much
Shirley Wentworth’s eyes widened as she stared at the scene in disbelief!
Vivian was taken aback for a moment, but quickly hugged him. "I missed you too. Come on, sit still and let me take your pulse."
"Mhm!" Elle sat obediently on her lap.
Vivian took his pulse and asked, "Elle, what made you suddenly feel unwell today?"
"My head hurts so much! It hurts so much I feel like I’m going to die!" Elle looked at her, dazed. "Vivian, am I going to die?"
Vivian said without a second thought, "Of course not."
"Really?"
"Of course. I would never lie to you." Vivian kissed his forehead. "Elle, I know it’s really tough when your head hurts, but you’re a brave little man, right? I believe you can beat it."
"Yeah!" Elle nodded vigorously. "I’m a big boy, I’m not afraid of pain! The next time it hurts, I promise I won’t cry!"
Looking at his sweet, obedient face, Vivian almost started to cry.
"Elle, you come here." Shirley Wentworth suppressed her anger. "Come to Mommy."
Elle burrowed deeper into Vivian’s arms. "No, I want Vivian to hold me."
Shirley Wentworth was so angry her fingertips trembled, and her tone became harsh. "Are you going to listen to your mother or not, huh?"
Elle was so scared he froze.
Vivian also sensed the tense atmosphere and placed Elle in Shirley Wentworth’s arms. "Elle, your mommy loves you very, very much. You have to love her back, because you’re a dependable little man."
"Okay." Elle hugged Shirley Wentworth’s neck and gave her a kiss on the cheek. "Mommy, I love you."
Shirley Wentworth closed her eyes, pained. "I’m sorry, sweetie. Mommy shouldn’t have been so harsh with you."
"I’m not mad at Mommy."
"Good boy. Mommy will never be harsh with you again."
...
Ian Sterling stayed at Sycamore Bay for lunch. Afterward, he pulled Vivian into a side hall. "Shirley Wentworth is here every day. Don’t you find it awkward?"
"What’s there to be awkward about?"
"How could it not be awkward? She’s slept with my uncle and even had his child. From a certain point of view, they’re practically a family of three!"
Vivian frowned. "What are you talking about? I’m Jett Sterling’s wife!"
"I said from a certain point of view."
"I know." Vivian said sullenly. "Of course I can’t be like some naive simpleton and feel nothing at all. But right now, there’s no other way. Elle’s health is the most important thing, and I have to keep him here to take care of him."
"That’s true. You’re the only one who can reduce Elle’s suffering." Ian Sterling said thoughtfully. "But why do I get the feeling that Shirley Wentworth doesn’t like you?"
"She was fine at first. These past couple of days, she’s probably just worried about Elle and a bit emotional. It’s nothing, I don’t let it bother me."
"Are you stupid? If she doesn’t like you, you need to be on your guard to avoid getting taken advantage of." Ian Sterling sighed. "Seeing as you’re so naive, I’ll do you a favor and move into Sycamore Bay for a while. I’ll help you keep an eye on her."
Vivian: "..." ???
"Who asked you to move in?"
"Vivian Quinn, don’t deny it. You really do need me."
"You’ll definitely just cause trouble if you come."
"Nonsense. I’ll come keep Elle company. He’ll be happier too."
Vivian thought about it seriously and realized he had a point.
Now that Wendy Reeves was gone, and Shirley Wentworth couldn’t stay the night, Elle would inevitably be lonely.
"But I can’t make the decision on this. Jett Sterling has the final say."
"You’re underestimating yourself. My uncle kicked his own mother out for you. That shows this household revolves around you. You have the final say on small matters like this."
"Really?" Vivian was a little unsure. "I have to go confirm it."
"Go on, go on. I’ll go back and pack a few things. I’m moving in today."
Vivian: "..."
She went upstairs and found Jett Sterling in the study. "What are you busy with?"
"Nothing much." Jett closed his laptop. "Has Ian left?"
"He said he wants to move into our house for a while to keep Elle company."
"And you agreed?"
"I’m asking for your opinion."
Jett Sterling stood up, walked over to her, and took her hand. "Vivian, you are the mistress of this house. You can decide on small matters like this yourself. You don’t need to ask me."
Vivian’s face showed her surprise.
"What’s wrong?" Jett Sterling raised an eyebrow. "Am I wrong?"
"No." Vivian shook her head. "Actually, that’s what Ian said too."
"You didn’t quite believe him and thought I would object, right?"
"A little."
Jett kissed the spot between her eyebrows. "Having Elle and Shirley Wentworth stay at Sycamore Bay will disturb our lives, so that’s something we need to discuss together. Ian coming here, at most, just adds one more person for you to bicker with. It won’t affect our lives. You can decide on things like that."
"I understand." Vivian’s lips curved into a smile. "No wonder Ian said you would definitely agree."
"He knows his place."
Vivian couldn’t help but laugh. "Why does that sound like you’re putting him down?"
"Because I am putting him down."
The two of them talked and laughed. Vivian hadn’t slept well the previous night and kept yawning, so Jett took her for an afternoon nap.
...
In the evening, when Vivian came downstairs, Ian Sterling was sprawled on the living room sofa, playing video games.
"You got here so fast?"
"Yeah, I’ve been here for a while. Elle’s asleep, and I’m bored to death."
"Where’s Shirley Wentworth?"
"I don’t know. Nanny Jenner said she went out."
"I’ll go check on Elle." Vivian went to Elle’s room. Seeing that he was sleeping soundly, she took his pulse.
Perhaps because of the episode this morning, his condition wasn’t very good today, and the color in his little face was poor.
Vivian got up and left, heading to a room in the basement to research the antidote. She stayed there until Nanny Jenner came knocking on the door.
"Ma’am, it’s time for dinner. The Young Master is waiting for you."
"Coming." Vivian rubbed her sore neck, got up, and went to the dining room. Jett and Ian were already waiting for her.
"Are you tired?" Jett caressed her slightly weary face. "Rest tonight. Don’t spend any more time cooped up in there."
"I’m fine." Vivian asked, "Hasn’t Elle woken up yet?"
"No."
"And Shirley Wentworth?"
"I don’t know."
Vivian looked toward Nanny Jenner. "Where is Miss Wentworth?"
"Miss Wentworth is in the Little Young Master’s room, Ma’am."
"Please ask her to join us for dinner."
Nanny Jenner seemed hesitant.
Vivian understood what she meant and looked at Jett. "She is a guest, after all. We can’t let her go hungry. Let’s ask her to eat with us. It’s the polite thing to do."
Jett didn’t object. "Alright."
Shirley Wentworth soon arrived at the dining room. "Miss Quinn, thank you for the invitation."
"Of course. I just hope the food is to your liking."
"I’m not a picky eater."
"Then please, help yourself."
Ian Sterling had been waiting impatiently and picked up his chopsticks to start eating.
While eating, Shirley Wentworth watched Jett across the table as he put food on Vivian’s plate. She spoke up, "Jett, there’s something I’d like to discuss with you."
