What Do You Mean I'm The Captain Of A Yandere Mercenary Company?-Chapter 493: They’re Just Scrubs
The building was a walled off factory building that had seen better days.
Then again, if you compare it to the other buildings around it, it basically looks the same as every other building.
"Well… The wall is going to be a problem," I noted, looking at the construct that surrounded our target.
It was twice my height so it would be difficult for us to climb over the wall… At least, without putting ourselves at risk of being seen.
There was one entrance on the other side but the place was being guarded by three guards, two who were standing in front of the gate and another one on top of a tower behind the wall.
Don't ask me why a factory needed a watchtower because I have no idea either.
We could go in through the front, of course, but that would basically announce our presence to everyone in that building. And I would prefer that we retain the element of surprise if we could help it.
That's why we had been trying to find another way into the factory but from the looks of things… It doesn't seem like there was another way in.
Amber looked at the wall before looking around us, "Hmm… Maybe I could fly us over the wall?"
Lea shook her head, "We don't know whether this place is being watched by cameras so that would be risky." freeweɓnovēl.coɱ
"Tch… Then I think we should just go in through the front door and bust the place down. These people aren't worth our time to be careful about."
I gave Amber a look, "I mean… I guess we could do that… But that would be a rather big risk… Especially since we don't know their numbers."
"Tera, you worry too much, you know? Even if they have numbers, it wouldn't mean anything in front of us~"
"Well, I can't help it, can I? I don't want anything to happen to either of you…"
The two girls looked at me for a moment before suddenly hugging me, surprising me with that unexpected action.
"Oh, Tera~ You cutie~ You don't need to worry about us at all! We can take care of something as insignificant as this!"
"That's right Mistress. This won't be our first time participating in a combat scenario."
"Be that as it may… I don't want to leave anything to chance…" I sighed.
Amber pulled back and grinned at me, "Alright then! In that case, we'll just have to prove to you that there's nothing for you to worry about, Tera!"
Wait… You're not going to…
Both Amber and Lea turned towards the front entrance, doing what I feared.
They're really just going to charge in from the front…
I pulled out my shotgun and ran after them, right as they turned the corner which would put them in view of the guards.
Amber didn't hesitate and pulled out both her guns from their holsters before firing two shots directly towards the guards.
Beside her, Lea sank into a crouch and pointed her sniper rifle at the watchtower, firing a shot aimed at the guard standing there.
I turned the corner just in time to see two bodies hit the floor in front of the gate before the girls started dashing towards it, taking advantage of the surprise to press the attack.
I followed after them as they stacked up against the front gate.
"I'll take the tower and provide overwatch from above," Lea announced.
Amber nodded at me, "Then Tera and I will bust into the main building itself~"
With that decided, Amber spun towards the gate and braced herself on a foot before kicking the corrugated iron door with the flat of her foot.
The door flew off its hinges and if it wasn't for the fact that it already looked pretty flimsy even before Amber had kicked it, I would have assumed she used her telekinesis to tear it off instead.
She led the charge in and I followed behind her, checking the sides as she scanned the area in front of us.
I found a thug hiding behind the wall and he seemed surprised that I had turned towards him and started fumbling with his pistol to point towards me.
My shotgun was already pointed at him so all I needed to do was to pull the trigger and the guy got blasted by a hail of shotgun pellets, shredding the guy apart as it riddled him with holes.
I was worried that he might have a shield to protect him but it seemed like I didn't need to worry about that at all.
On the other side, Amber had fired a shot that nailed another thug right between the eyes, the poor guy having been caught standing out in the open.
Lea ignored everything and ran straight for the tower, climbing up in record time before kicking the corpse of the thug she killed off the tower to give herself more space.
With just Amber and myself left, we moved towards the main entrance of the building which was missing a door so the thugs seemed to have used a metal sheet to cover it as a replacement.
I was expecting Amber to stack up against the wall again to prepare to breach but she went up to the metal sheet before throwing it to the side and jumping through the entrance without hesitation.
"Surprise fuckers!" She shouted out, right before firing her guns in several quick bursts.
I ran in after her and the factory building consisted of several broken machinery on the ground floor and what looked like an office on the second floor with a section of it hanging over the first floor. Both floors had thugs that had their guns out and pointed in our direction.
There were actually more people than I thought as they immediately opened fire on us from behind cover, clearly having already heard the gunshots happening outside and thus prepared themselves by seeking cover.
I dove behind a machine to avoid the bullets while Amber went behind another one on the other side as bullets pierced through the space we had been in a moment ago.
I was unfortunately pinned to my spot as more thugs started firing at the machine I was hiding behind, the sound of bullets ricocheting off the machine echoing in my ears.
Amber took advantage of that as she rolled behind another machine to reposition herself while keeping out of sight.
She then popped up on the flanks of a group of thugs before unleashing several accurate shots that blew their heads out.
A number of the thugs switched their target to Amber instead, allowing me to move out of cover to fire a few pot shots in the direction of the thugs on the second floor.
I wasn't really taking proper aim since I just wanted to scare them into taking cover but one of them was unfortunate enough to get blasted by several pellets in the face and fell onto the ground.
That seemed to scare the thugs nearby into seeking cover themselves and the number of bullets flying in my direction quickly dwindled.
I looked in Amber's direction and she was leaping through the air and spinning around as she fired her pistols around her. The thugs firing at her couldn't hit her while she was landing headshots like she wasn't even trying.
I'm pretty sure she was doing that on purpose to show off to me…
Seeing that she didn't have a problem handling those guys, I decided to clear out the ones on the second floor for her and made a run for the stairs.
When I reached the bottom step, another thug was there waiting for me and fired a shot from his pistol.
My shield materialised and blocked the bullet that would have landed on my chest and I quickly responded with a blast from my shotgun at him.
The guy got blasted back into the wall, giving me free access to the second floor.
Sprinting up the flights of steps, I reached the supposed office right on time to see one of the thugs lift their shotgun in my direction, only to have his head blown out from an unseen assailant in the direction of the window.
Thanks Lea.
Several of the thugs were gathered near the overhang to fire at Amber so I fired a few shots in quick succession, blasting them out of their cover with one guy falling over the railing to drop down on the first floor.
Someone tried to charge at me with a knife so I swivelled around and smashed the butt of my shotgun across his face before shooting him in the face with a buckshot round.
Two more appeared from around the corner and I immediately pulled out my pistol with my other hand and double tapped twice, nailing both guys in the chest and dropping them.
I was looking for more thugs when I realised that the place had suddenly fallen silent.
Eh? That's it?
Not gonna lie… That was seriously easy…
