What Do You Mean There Are Other Transmigrators In My Harem Fantasy?-Chapter 1092: Goblins In The Grass
Chapter 1092: Goblins In The Grass
"Mistress, they’re right up ahead," Katsuki reported, pointing at the clump of tall grass off the road to our left.
So they were trying to ambush anyone who tried to walk past them I guess?
"How many are there?" I asked.
She sniffed the air, "I believe there should be about a dozen or so, Mistress."
"Eh? You can tell just from the smell?" Carrey gasped.
Katsuki only gave her a curt nod in response without elaborating.
I turned to my party, "Alright then, we have a dozen or so Goblins to take care of. Since this is just for Jenna and I to see what Carrey and Inara are capable of, we will be leaving most of the work to the both of you. Do you think you can handle that?"
"Of course, Miss Aster."
"I... I will try my best, Mistress."
"Perfect then. Carrey, are you able to spot them in the grass?" I asked, seeing that I honestly could not see them at all.
She turned in the direction of where Katsuki had pointed earlier and squinted her eyes, "I... I believe I see them, Mistress. Shall I start shooting?"
I nodded, "Let’s do it. Inara, I’ll heal you so no need to hold back."
"Understood, Miss Aster."
Carrey sucked in a deep breath before exhaling and lifting up her bow.
She nocked an arrow and pulled taut on the bowstring before taking aim up at an angle in the direction of the grass.
Inara had already positioned herself in front of all of us to act as our vanguard, the sword I gave her held defensively in front of her.
Carrey loosed the arrow and we watched as the projectile soared into the air, reaching the apex of its flight before it dropped back down to earth.
I wasn’t really expecting her to hit anything as I really couldn’t see any enemies there at all. But when the arrow disappeared into the grass, a cry of pain could be heard and angry shouts from Goblins quickly followed suit.
That was the cue for several Goblins to suddenly pop out from the tall grass, one of them with an arrow stuck to his back.
The group spotted us immediately and started charging at us while waving their weapons threateningly in the air.
I immediately cast [Strength] on Inara and the knight must have noticed because she quickly kicked off the ground and jumped straight into the group of charging Goblins.
The former knight smashed her shoulder into the lead goblin, the momentum sending him flying back and crashing into his comrades behind him and sending three of them flying up into the air.
Before they could land, however, Carrey had fired three arrows in quick succession, accurately sniping all three Goblins out of the air, though only one was a fatal shot through the head while the other two were struck in their arms.
Still, it was really impressive that she could even hit them in the first place.
Jenna finished chanting her spell and she pointed her staff at a goblin that was trying to flank Inara from the left.
"[Icicle Lance]!"
A shard of ice formed above her and shot out at blinding speed, skewering the Goblin right through the chest.
The monster screamed and clawed at the ice shard for a moment before toppling over to fall face first onto the ground, dead.
There was another Goblin trying to flank from the other side but Katsuki was already targeting him.
Her figure blurred for a moment before she reappeared back at my side, the Goblin taking another step before his head separated from his body and falling onto the ground.
Inara then swung her sword in an arc, slashing off the head of the Goblin directly in front of her before kicking his corpse aside, using it as an improvised projectile to send it crashing into another Goblin and pinning him to the ground.
Three more Goblins rushed forward and waved their rusted swords at her with the one in the middle also using a shield.
Carrey shot another arrow, nailing the Goblin on the left in the chest and sending him stumbling back.
Inara immediately took advantage of that and took a step forward, raising her sword to take aim at the Goblin with the shield.
The Goblin quickly raised his shield in defence but it turned out to just be a feint because Inara altered the angle of her sword and slashed it diagonally downwards instead, slicing the other Goblin across his chest.
He opened his mouth to let out a scream but was silenced when Inara grabbed him by the head and used him as a club to smash against the shield of the middle Goblin.
I couldn’t help but let out a gasp of awe as the shield shattered under the blow and she immediately followed up with a thrust of her sword, skewering the last Goblin through his head with the sword.
She tried to pull back but was just a moment too slow as an arrow suddenly flew from inside the tall grass, striking her in the arm.
The former knight spun in a circle and pulled out the arrow in one smooth motion before tossing it away, allowing me to use my [Heal] to patch her back up.
Carrey loosed another arrow, this time aiming at the grass at where the Goblin arrow had come from.
The only sign that she had hit her target was a cry of pain before it was followed by the thump of a body hitting the ground.
I’m going to be honest, both of them were way better than I expected them to be, especially Inara.
She definitely has experience fighting while outnumbered before and she didn’t even panic when she was struck by the arrow.
Instead, she already knew we had a healer so it was safe for her to pull out the arrow to allow me to heal her instead of letting it stay there.
As for Carrey, her aim was pretty much immaculate as she had not missed a single shot thus far.
Granted, not all of them were fatal shots but it’s still a fact that she did not miss any of her shots despite already firing so rapidly.
Fighting Goblins seems like a walk in the park for them now...
Then again, I suppose that’s to be expected when you compare their stats...
Right as I thought of that, a roar came from within the tall grass and something leapt out to start sprinting towards Inara.
I only just recognised it to be three times the size of a Goblin before it swung its club at Inara.
She just managed to raise her sword in time and the club clashed against her blade with a loud bang, the former knight digging in her heels and completely blocking the attack.
[Name: Hobgoblin
Stats:
150 Strength
80 Dexterity
100 Endurance
100 Magic
Skills:
Leadership (Tier 1), Martial Skill-(Club Proficiency (Tier 2))]
Tsk... So this is a Hobgoblin huh... It really just looked like someone took a Goblin and stretched all its features up three sizes bigger to make this monster.
I cast another [Strength] on Inara and the former knight shoved the club back, sending the monster stumbling back with her enhanced strength.
Carrey fired a few more arrows one after the other, the three arrows striking the Hobgoblin in the chest and throwing it off balance.
Jenna pointed her staff once more, "[Surface Freeze]!"
The part of the ground that the Hobgoblin was about to step on suddenly froze over, creating a layer of slippery ice.
He stepped on it and predictably slipped, losing his footing and falling back onto the ground with a loud crash.
Inara leapt into the air with a sword poised to stab downwards at the Hobgoblin’s neck.
Unexpectedly, the monster recovered faster than we thought and he tried to lift his hand to smack Inara away, only for Katsuki to appear beside said hand and slashing her daggers in an arc.
The hand ended up getting separated at the wrist, the dismembered limb flying away in the other direction and giving Inara a clear shot at her target.
Her sword struck home in the Hobgoblin’s neck, piercing straight through until the blade popped out through the back of his neck.
He tried to use his other hand in a last ditch attempt to sweep her away but Carrey shot another arrow that struck the Hobgoblin in the palm, forcing it back and away from Inara.
Inara then pulled out her sword before swinging it down in an arc separating the Hobgoblin’s head from his body.
The other Goblins stared at the body of who I assume was supposed to be their leader, their brains finally realising he was dead before they all started to run back into the tall grass in a panic.
Of course, we weren’t going to just let them run so we ended up slaughtering each and every one of them.
That went really well, I would say.
