When I was born as a god-Chapter 35: What is the problem here?
The moment I saw it, Aira beheaded the rabbit in a single strike.
I froze.
I could never have imagined Aira doing something like that. It was beyond anything I had pictured in my mind.
"See, Hinata," I said quietly, still staring at her. "I told you... we don’t need Aira’s help."
But even as I said that, my eyes couldn’t leave her.
Aira stood there, a sword in her hand. A radiant aura—like sunlight made of mana—poured from her body. Her long hair shimmered, and her eyes burned like twin suns.
"Anyway," I muttered, trying to steady myself, "how are we going to finish this? We need to move. Quickly."
Ayal’s voice cut through the tension.
"We have to leave now. If we delay, more trouble might come to this place."
He was right.
"Yes... we need to hurry," I replied.
And with that, Hinata and I began moving toward Aira.
As we walked, a question kept echoing inside my mind.
Aira had said someone knew a little about us.
The thought wouldn’t leave me.
So I asked, "Aira... you said someone knows about us. Can you tell me who they are?"
She was silent for a moment before answering.
"Ayal... when I couldn’t find either of you, I kept feeling that something had happened. That’s why I used the academy’s sensing technique to track you. If I hadn’t done it... someone else might have found you first."
Her voice turned colder.
"And if that had happened... both of you could’ve been in serious danger."
Then she added quietly,
"Someone is waiting outside."
I frowned. "Outside? Who’s waiting for us?"
She didn’t answer.
I asked again, but she remained silent.
That wasn’t like her.
Was something wrong?
Did something happen between her and her father?
I remembered the last time she met him. She looked terrified back then.
Could it be related?
Soon, we reached a massive gate—the exit from the S-Rank zone.
Beyond it... stood our society’s forces.
As we stepped outside, I was stunned.
Dozens of soldiers surrounded the area. Each one held a sword. They wore white uniforms, and behind them were enormous white wings—like angels ready for war.
Before I could process what was happening, a voice rang out.
"So, we finally found you."
"Soldiers. Surround them."
At once, they encircled Hinata.
She was completely surrounded.
Then a man stepped forward.
"We’ve been searching for you," he declared coldly. "Now hand over the valuable item you stole."
Seeing them treat Hinata like that made anger rise inside me.
"Hey! What are you doing to her?!"
I rushed toward Hinata.
A soldier blocked my path, stepping in front of me with his sword drawn.
"You don’t need to concern yourself with this matter."
He stared at me with killing intent.
I understood immediately.
He wanted to fight.
Without hesitation, I drew my sword and prepared myself.
Suddenly, another voice echoed through the tense air—
"Well, well... it seems someone is causing trouble here."
When I turned my head, the person who had first surrounded Hinata stepped forward and stood right in front of me.
He had a pale white face, almost lifeless in color. His left eye carried a long scar that cut across it, yet his eyes shone with a terrifying golden hue. His hair was pure white, long and flowing down past his shoulders.
He looked at me coldly and spoke in a deep voice.
"Did you come here to cause trouble?"
His gaze was overwhelming. Those golden eyes... they felt ancient, as if they had witnessed countless battles and endless years of suffering. Just by looking at him, my chest tightened.
He only had one arm — his left arm was missing.
"What is your name?"
He asked again, his voice sharper this time.
I met his terrifying gaze and answered,
"My name is Ayal."
The moment he heard my name, his golden eyes flickered slightly.
"Oh... so you are Ayal."
The air around us suddenly grew heavy.
I suddenly remembered the rumor I had heard.
He wasn’t alone... Someone was helping him. You... weren’t you?
The moment he finished speaking, he gestured to his soldiers.
"Seize him."
Before I could react, two soldiers rushed forward. Their iron grips clamped around my arms, forcing me down to my knees against the cold earth.
At the same time, he stepped toward Hinata.
"Now," he said coldly, his golden eye gleaming, "tell me where the valuable item is."
"I don’t know what you’re talking about," I said through clenched teeth. "I didn’t steal anything."
For a brief second, silence fell.
Then—
"Do you wish to die here?" His voice turned sharp, deadly. "Speak. Or I’ll end you right now. No one— not your family, not anyone— will be able to save you."
"I was about to explain— he really didn’t steal anyth—"
Before I could finish, they slammed me harder into the ground. Pain shot through my body as the soldiers tightened their hold on my arms. 𝕗𝗿𝕖𝐞𝐰𝗲𝕓𝐧𝕠𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝐨𝚖
"How dare you show disrespect to our Captain?" one of them snarled.
Watching this unfold—
Aira suddenly stepped forward.
"How can you treat him like this?!" she shouted.
Her voice cut through the tension like a blade.
The man speaking to me glanced at her. Another soldier addressed him respectfully.
"Captain, you cannot treat them like this. They are innocent."
He slowly turned his terrifying gaze toward Aira. That single golden eye, scar running across his face, glowed with silent menace.
"Aira," he said calmly, though his voice carried a hidden threat. "You said you would bring them. After that, our work would continue. That is why you came to us... Have you forgotten?"
Aira swallowed but did not look away.
"Yes, I know. But how can you do this without any proof?"
Her voice trembled slightly, yet she stood firm.
"Just by looking at them... you think they are capable of such a thing?"
The wind blew softly across the battlefield.
And in that moment—
The Captain’s golden eye narrowed.
The air itself felt heavy.
As if a single wrong word... could mean death.
