Who Brought Him into the Cultivation World?-Chapter 391 - 333: The Evil Path’s Fierce Figure
"Uncle, is it possible for me to stick around and earn a meal?"
Ji Wushi snuck over to find Elder Tong, speaking furtively.
"Weren’t you captured?"
Elder Tong glanced sideways at him, continuing to rock the recliner.
Ji Wushi rubbed his hands together, walked up behind the recliner, and gently kneaded the elder’s shoulders. Only when Elder Tong felt comfortable did he respond.
"Being captured is only temporary; weren’t you also temporarily held hostage, Uncle?"
We’re all in temporary situations, but life goes on, doesn’t it?
Ji Wushi kept his hands busy, still massaging, while Elder Tong thoroughly enjoyed it but remained firm in his refusal.
"Following me is not an option; you’ve already left the Celestial Secret Tower, so you’re no longer considered a disciple."
He then slightly turned his head, suspiciously adding, "Didn’t I hear that you joined the Evil Path and gained some fame, being one of the Four Gentlemen of the Evil Path, tsk!"
Upon hearing this, Ji Wushi’s hands paused, and his face showed a troubled expression as he quickly poured out his grievances.
"The Evil Path has been unstable recently, and I’m struggling to get by. My reputation over there is also..."
Like bamboo tubes pouring out beans, he lamented pitifully.
Initially leading a ragtag group that was manageable until Han Yu shattered it.
That scoundrel Tu Xingsun hasn’t shown up since, leaving Ji Wushi, a Divination Cultivator, with limited means for survival; his offensive capabilities were not prominent, leaving him middling within the Evil Path.
Moreover, the cons and tricks he’d done in the past had deeply offended the Evil Cultivators, and it wouldn’t be surprising if he got taken out someday.
"You’ve already mixed with the Evil Path, yet you specifically target Evil Cultivators; if you don’t die, who will?"
Elder Tong rolled his eyes, feeling no sympathy at all, thinking this young man brought it upon himself.
He’s been with the Evil Path yet has more Evil Cultivator blood on his hands than even a Righteous individual, pathetic my foot.
"All for the sake of cultivation."
Ji Wushi sighed helplessly.
Who knew Divination was such a tough path, having to divine people’s destinies constantly.
Elder Tong remained firm, shaking his head, "No can do, the rules of Celestial Secret Tower can’t be broken. Once out, there’s no going back."
Ji Wushi quickly continued, "I’m not asking to return, but could you let me find a place in the city to lay low and earn a meal? It’s just taking up a room; it shouldn’t be a big deal, right?"
The Evil Path truly isn’t safe now; dying somewhere outside with nobody knowing is a real possibility.
He knew he couldn’t return to Celestial Secret Tower, but since this was still its property, it might offer some protection.
Elder Tong looked up at him, seeing right through his little scheme, grinning, "Earning what meal? Just say you want to take shelter here instead of going in circles."
However, changing his tone, he continued, "Though you can’t return, this place technically doesn’t belong to Celestial Secret Tower. What the outside world thinks doesn’t concern me; you can stay if you want!"
Ji Wushi felt immensely relieved and nodded eagerly, realizing that this was indirectly offering him protection.
This place wasn’t officially Celestial Secret Tower’s domain, but there were cultivators from the tower here!
Celestial Secret Tower only declared indifference to the lives of former disciples, but never to those still within. By staying here, he indirectly enjoyed the same protection as those from the tower.
"Go tell the disciple next door that I saw him enter with his left foot first today, which uncle doesn’t like, so he should make a swift return to the tower and reflect."
Elder Tong said with a smile at the corner of his mouth.
"Got it!"
Ji Wushi nodded happily and quickly turned around to leave.
As soon as he stepped out, he headed straight for the opposite house, and before long, a fellow cultivator cheerfully exited with him.
Ji Wushi isn’t foolish; there’s no way he would repeat the words verbatim. After offering some magical artifacts, he coaxed his former fellow disciple into laughter.
"Don’t worry, Senior Brother Ji; I’ll tell them Uncle Tong kicked me out if anyone inquires back at the tower."
The cultivator promised with a smile.
Ji Wushi was also generous, cupping his hands and saying, "Rest easy, Junior Brother; once things cool down, head back, and I’ll make sure to cover for your cultivation resources during this period."
He wasn’t truly here just to earn a meal; besides, the cultivation resources he could earn here were nothing compared to profiting off conning an Evil Cultivator.
After sorting everything out, Ji Wushi finally felt a weight lifted off his heart and went back to Elder Tong’s room.
Elder Tong was still lazily lounging, but of course, couldn’t be kept unaware of the commotion outside, nodding silently, realizing Ji Wushi wasn’t too dumb and knew the limits.
"You mentioned earlier that the Evil Path isn’t stable, what’s going on exactly? Explain in detail."
He patted his shoulder, and Ji Wushi quickly stepped forward to continue massaging, then slowly explained.
"I don’t know where this person came from, but they suddenly emerged, successively sweeping through several major Evil Sect factions, then gathered surrounding Evil Sects like a whirlwind, intending to consolidate all Evil Path forces."
Having listened, Elder Tong knitted his brow tightly, finding something very odd about the whole situation. 𝒇𝒓𝙚𝒆𝔀𝓮𝓫𝒏𝓸𝙫𝓮𝓵.𝓬𝙤𝙢
"A single person?"
This was quite out of the ordinary and even more ominous happening within the Evil Sects.
Wiping out a sect is somewhat easier than conquering one.
Eradicating requires only strength, but winning over a sect’s devotion requires more than power; it takes skill and time, not something achievable swiftly.
To have consolidated so many sects swiftly, all Evil Sects, seemed impossible.
Ji Wushi nodded in agreement, "Exactly! That’s precisely why I’m scared out of participating; do you know what’s even more freakish?"
"What is it?"
Elder Tong pressed on.
Ji Wushi’s expression turned grave, "In every conquered sect, either the elders turned traitor, or the sect leader led the surrender. That alone is chilling."
Elder Tong’s demeanor also grew serious, "You mean that the process of subjugation faced minimal resistance."
Recalling the tales he’d heard, Ji Wushi shook his head, lamenting, "That fellow’s like the protagonist in a tale, where followers bow wherever he goes."
"No, not even the tales tend to go that far."
Something abnormal signals something amiss; this wicked storm is blowing over the Evil Path and has started affecting the Righteous Path too.
"Word is, this assembled force plans to clash with the Righteous Path."
This isn’t just inciting a war between the Righteous and Evil Paths; such a large conflict will inevitably engulf the State City, and the Imperial Court won’t be able to stay out of it. Eventually, the court will have to get involved.
Then the opponents won’t just be the Righteous Sects, but the Imperial Court will have to be counted in too.
Ji Wushi wasn’t ignorant; the collective power of the Evil Path is inherently weaker than the Righteous. Adding the Imperial Court to the equation means victory is impossible.
Currently, all Evil Cultivators are likely just cannon fodder.
He had no intention of risking his life for others, nor becoming cannon fodder. Having understood all that, he decided to flee.
