Who Designed This Underworld Dungeon?-Chapter 1304 - 824: Sain Ancient City (Part 2)
"And then, the magic shield, whether it's useful or not, we should all wear it."
"The calming technique is also essential. Even though we've seen a lot, there's no guarantee there won't be something even more outrageous inside."
Luluwo listed item after item, as the group followed her lead, applying the beneficial magic onto themselves. When everything was ready, they finally took a step into the Sain Ancient City.
Blacksmith Andre mentioned that this place was used by the Ancient Gods for testing heroes. Countless brave souls have met their end here, with blood spilled everywhere.
People have heard this kind of tale many times. It's as if every famous spot has its legend, and the blood of heroes almost became a trendy accessory.
But this is the Sain Dungeon, where every area's background story is genuine, so people have no choice but to take it seriously.
"It sounds so intense, but after coming in, it seems pretty ordinary. I don't feel anything special," Aleya's voice came from below the straw man.
As soon as she finished speaking, the floating light around each person went out, and they lost all illumination in an instant.
The Sain Ancient City, which was just lit up, suddenly plunged into darkness again.
The group looked at Aleya, and she immediately fell silent.
"Is the lighting technique not working?"
Ais and Em tried repeatedly to reignite the lighting technique, but each time it brightened slightly, it instantly faded, as if there was something specifically interfering with the lighting technique.
Without the lighting technique, the pitch-dark interior would indeed make exploration significantly more difficult.
"Boom!"
While people were trying the lighting technique, the ancient lamp stands on the walls lit up on their own, and the dim flames extended from nearby to the far depths of the ancient city, providing a faint glow in the dark environment.
Logically, having light should be reassuring, but given the current environment, these scattered, dim flames actually added to the suspenseful atmosphere.
Moreover, since they stepped into the Sain Ancient City, the world outside suddenly went silent; no external sounds could penetrate. Here, only the conversations among the group highlighted the eerily quiet environment.
"Gollum." Tami swallowed nervously, and his emotions seemed contagious, causing Mila and the others nearby to grip their weapons tightly, with slight sweat in their palms.
"Don't be scared."
Luluwo patted Tami and Mila on the shoulder, confidently smiling, "You've got me behind you."
That made them even more fearful; Tami forced a smile.
Since joining the Skyrim Strategy Group, he realized that while following Luluwo would clear many areas, it often meant dying numerous times; their strategies were literally built with their lives!
In other words, the first time they explored a map, they were doomed!
Luluwo pouted unsatisfactorily, took out the Image Stone, intending to play some morale-boosting music to counteract the gloomy atmosphere.
But before the music could play, a strange "hissing" sound suddenly emanated from the distant darkness.
"What the heck!"
Luluwo raised her hand and threw a Chaos Fireball, the magma illuminating some darkness, and they saw a scaly creature flash past. Clearly, the opponent was not hit.
"The monsters have emerged so quickly..."
The group wasted no time at the entrance, formed a formation, and moved forward.
With the prior monster sighting, everyone's observational skills and vigilance were heightened to the maximum, unable to miss any subtle movements!
The entrance of the Sain Ancient City seemed vast and spacious, an empty hall with piles of support columns but no furniture, like an unfinished construction.
However, after a few steps forward, the vast hall suddenly narrowed down to a not-so-large passageway, creating a sense of diminished space.
A silver light appeared from the sides of the passage, obscured by protruding walls.
"There's an ambush!"
Luluwo hurled a Chaos Fireball, instantly creating a crashing sound, when various suits of iron armor fell to the ground, and upon closer inspection, it turned out to be...
"Silver Knight Armor?"
After advancing a few more steps, they discovered both sides of the passage were lined with Silver Knight Armor, with no trace of any monster.
"What's the point of displaying armor here, are you crazy?" Luluwo blushed slightly, admitting she had acted too impulsively, now feeling a bit embarrassed.
"It's indeed authentic Silver Knight Armor, but it's been here for so long that it can't be used," Fingerley poked a hole in the armor with a finger, "perhaps a collector might find it valuable."
The group proceeded along the path filled with Silver Knight Armor, feeling a bit stifled, afraid that these would suddenly move, as Silver Knights can be quite tough.
As if on cue, the armor behind them actually started to move!
"Take this!" "How about a taste of this!" "Prepare to die!"
Immediately, those already on edge turned around and unleashed their powers, turning the figure rushing at them into a sieve with flashy special effects!
Instant kill!
Upon closer inspection, they finally figured out what it was.
"Snake-man."
A sub-human creature with a cobra-like head, its entire body covered in scales, showing a metallic sheen under the firelight, eyes gleaming coldly.
The good news is that these Snake-men weren't particularly strong, and the group could easily take them down together.
The bad news is the Cunning Monsters indeed hid under the Silver Knight Armor!
Not wanting to continue being on edge, they made a bold decision.
Bomb their way through!
"Boom! Boom! Boom!"
The sound of magical explosions echoed continuously through the passageway, as they advanced, smashing the armor in front into bits, though there were close calls of self-harm, they indeed unearthed some hiding Snake-men, deterring them from stopping the bombardment.
"Hang tight, just endure a little longer and we'll be out of this narrow place," Luluwo reassured, "the whole Sain Ancient City is massive, it can't possibly get narrower than this elsewhere."
Right after saying that, she abruptly stopped, causing those behind to almost bump into her, asking what's going on.
"..."
Luluwo fell into a prolonged silence, after a while, she lifted her hand and pointed forward, indicating for everyone to see for themselves.
"What's up, captain... Oh my god!"
Tami's eyes followed Luluwo's gaze forward, letting out a voice filled with shock.
They had reached the end of the passage, finally making it here, only to find out what awaited wasn't a vast space to explore freely.
Instead, it was something completely opposite.
A narrow bridge, a straight, kilometer-long narrow bridge stretched before them!
This bridge, accommodating only one person, flanked by an endless abyss, falling off meant instant death, but that's not the main concern.
The main concern is—
"Shing—Shing—Shing—"
Suddenly, the sound of mechanisms came rushing, hidden traps within the ancient city activated, and the ceiling suddenly opened.
In the blink of an eye, countless massive, curved blades descended from above, swinging side to side at a speed beyond ordinary reaction!
The narrow bridge resembles a slaughterhouse conveyer belt!
"So, are we supposed to run across that?"
Tami's mouth twitched, as he felt a sudden stomachache, wondering if there's still a chance to turn back and leave.
"It's merely mechanical traps, just a few more of them," Luluwo, after a few glances, exuded confidence.
"Watch me clear it in one life!"
She confidently stepped onto the narrow bridge.
Instantly, on both sides of the dark bridge, numerous pairs of cold eyes lit up.
"..."
Luluwo took a step back off the bridge and made a "please" gesture to Tami.
"Children first."
"You're bullying me!"
