[Vol. 6] Chapter 161: At Least I’m Confident in Defense

The headless giant didn’t sustain its buildup for long. In mere moments, the terrifying energy of its punch, seemingly capable of splitting the heavens and earth, had reached its peak. Ominous black lightning crackled from the strike, as if even space itself couldn’t withstand the overwhelming force and was on the verge of fracturing.

With a heavy stomp forward, the ground beneath its feet shattered into a circular crater several meters wide, and the unleashed power of the punch surged outward like a raging tide.

“Barbarian Fist: Heaven-Splitting Style!!!”

As the howl echoed, the ferocity, like an ancient beast roaring up to the sky, reached its climax, erupting with full force!

“BOOOOOOM!!!!”

The massive fist collided with the golden barrier, creating a wild, piercing explosion that shot toward the sky. Stone fragments scattered, the ground trembled violently, and the entire [Wangxi Basin] seemed to quake under the residual shockwave of the devastating strike.

“Crack… crack… crack…”

Fine cracks began to spread across the thin golden shield, as though it were moments away from shattering completely.

“Heh, it’s just a—”

The voice of the headless giant rumbled disdainfully from the gaping maw on its abdomen. Just as it was about to follow up with another punch to finish the job, something unexpected occurred.

From the surface of the barrier, countless intricate and mysterious runes suddenly emerged. These symbols glowed like jewels set into an elaborate formation, trembling and merging into a unified whole. The pressure emanating from the barrier grew exponentially, far surpassing the harmless facade it had displayed earlier.

And then it *exploded outward.*

“Watch out! [Headless], get back—!”

“SHHHHHRRRKK!!!”

Before the warning could even be completed, the massive power surged forth. The headless giant, who had just struck the barrier, didn’t have time to roar or scream. Its entire left arm shattered under the devastating backlash, and its massive body was sent hurtling backward like a missile.

It flew across the entire [Wangxi Basin] in an instant, slamming violently into the mountainside on the opposite end.

“BOOOOOMMMMMMMMMMM!!!!”

The impact triggered a landslide of rock and debris, sending shockwaves echoing across the basin.

The tremors grew even more intense, as though responding to the unleashed power. In an instant, the sky was shrouded in thick, oppressive black clouds. Lightning crackled and thunder roared, as if divine punishment was about to descend upon those audacious enough to challenge godly might.

For a moment, silence fell. Then, the group of monsters erupted into a chaotic mix of shock and fear.

“What… what was that just now?”

“Quick! Check if [Headless] is still alive! If it’s not dead, bring it back immediately. Something’s not right. We need to retreat!”

“Understood!”

Two figures immediately leapt into action, rushing toward the mountainside where [Headless] had disappeared. Meanwhile, the hooded figure that had located the barrier earlier, along with the other monsters, turned their focus back to the golden barrier.

The barrier, fully activated by the earlier assault, now pulsed with rhythmic energy like a living entity. It radiated an overwhelming aura of power, suffused with the essence of “law”, sending shivers through all who faced it. The cracks caused by the punch had long vanished, replaced by incomprehensible, glowing runes that shimmered brilliantly across its surface.

“This… this is power of *that* realm,” one of the figures muttered in disbelief. “How is this possible? Under the power of our benefactor, there shouldn’t be any true immortals left in the [Ancient Spirit Realm]…”

Another figure spoke in a low voice. “Regardless, the commotion has become too much. Striking the barrier so forcefully has undoubtedly alerted the one who placed it. We need to retreat now. It’s not time for a direct confrontation yet.”

“Agreed. Once they bring [Headless] back, we’ll… huh? [Heartless], what’s wrong?”

The one called [Heartless] was another mysterious figure, cloaked and hooded like the others. Judging by the faint outline of their form, it seemed to be a female.

Heartless had been silent and reserved throughout, never engaging in the group’s discussions. But now, she was trembling violently, and even her voice, usually clear and pleasant, came out like a mournful wail.

“It’s her… it’s her!! It’s that monster again, that relentless monster! She’s here! She’s here to kill me again!!!”

“Calm down! Explain what’s going on!”

The hooded leader grabbed [Heartless] by the shoulders, trying to steady her. In the struggle, her hood fell back, revealing a delicate and pretty face framed by long pink hair.

However, that face was devoid of any color, pale as a corpse. Her expression was twisted with sheer terror, as though she had seen an incomprehensibly ancient and unstoppable beast.

Her despairing murmurs rose with the thunder and the howling wind, fading into the storm.

“We’re going to die. Everyone is going to die… There’s no way we can defeat a monster like that…”

………………………………

“Hmm?”

Walking through the sea of crimson flowers, the black-haired girl suddenly paused and glanced in a particular direction, her brow slightly furrowed.

“Why now of all times…”

Noticing the subtle change in her expression, Miss Hen quickly asked, “What’s wrong?”

“Oh… nothing,” Violet replied casually. “Probably just some stray cats or dogs wandering into someone else’s house by mistake. I’ll check it out later. For now, let’s ignore them. When it comes to defense, at least, I’m still confident.”

Seemingly understanding the ambiguous meaning behind Violet’s words, the silver-haired girl frowned slightly. But seeing Violet’s calm demeanor, she decided not to press further and simply nodded.

“Alright, I’ll follow your lead.”

It had been more than half an hour since the group had entered the [Endless Wasteland Sea].

During this time, Violet and her group, led by Murong Yun, had been traversing the strange land where a sea of blooming “red spider lilies” stretched endlessly. After their initial amazement, they gradually grew accustomed to the surreal environment.

“By the way, how long is it going to take for us to reach the ruins of the Heaven-Splitting Gate? And wasn’t this place supposed to be dangerous? How come we haven’t seen a single enemy yet?”

Murong Yun, the white-robed middle-aged man who had been guiding them with practiced ease since their arrival, shook his head at Violet’s question.

“Miss Violet, the [Endless Wasteland Sea] is not like the real world. The space and time here are very vague in scale. Until we reach the actual destination, it’s nearly impossible to give an accurate estimate of time.”

“As for why we haven’t encountered any danger yet, it’s because I’ve been carefully avoiding those perilous areas. Or do you think running into powerful enemies would be a good thing?”

“That’s not what I meant…” Violet replied, waving off the comment. “Speaking of which, where did the [Shocking God Sect] group go? They entered at about the same time as us, didn’t they?”

Holding a white cat that had been quiet and inconspicuous this entire time, Xiao Kong glanced around and casually remarked, “Probably fell into a different space by chance.”

“A different space?”

Seeing Violet’s puzzled expression, Murong Yun took it upon himself to explain, smiling as he did.

“Miss Violet, have you ever wondered why this place is called the [Endless Wasteland Sea] rather than the [Endless Flower Sea]?”

“This space, aside from the spider lilies, appears to have nothing else. It’s unlikely any ruins would be built in an environment like this. Once you understand that, the concept of [Ruined Realm] becomes easy to grasp.”

He crouched down, pointing at one of the ubiquitous red spider lilies at their feet, though he refrained from touching it directly.

“Take a look at the center of this flower, Miss Violet. What do you see?”
