Why Am I a Priestess When I Reach the Maximum Level?-Chapter 98[Vol. 6] - The Immortal [Apothecary]
[Vol. 6] Chapter 98: The Immortal [Apothecary]
When the group arrived outside the stone pavilion, the battle had already ended. The Mole King, suspected to be the offspring of the Peach Blossom Sage and nicknamed the [Earth Spirit Great Saint], was tied to one of the pavilion’s pillars. It didn’t seem angry, merely slumping its mouse-like head, which bore a talisman suppressing its spiritual power, clearly Ling Feng’s handiwork.
The black-scaled dragon had taken on the form of a young man with short black hair and a slightly mischievous air. He sat on a chair in the pavilion, his gaze fixed on the scar in the sky left by the glowing spear.
Meanwhile, the golden-armored, eagle-headed figure, the [Thunder Strike Sage], stood protectively beside the Peach Blossom Sage, quietly watching as a gray-haired girl examined and treated her injuries.
As the group approached, the pink-haired woman opened her weary eyes. Her gaze swept over the unfamiliar faces before resting on a short-haired girl dressed in odd clothing and wearing cat-paw gloves. Her expression turned to surprise.
“Lady Kong? Why have you come here in person? Has something serious happened?”
Xiao Kong shook her head nonchalantly.
“And what about your situation? Is that not serious enough? We’ll discuss the rest later. How are you feeling?”
The Peach Blossom Sage offered a wry smile.
“The [Apothecary]’s poison is indeed formidable. His expertise in medicine far exceeds conventional pharmacology. I won’t be able to fight for a few days, but I’ll survive. Thanks to prior preparations.”
She subtly gestured toward the unfamiliar individuals with her eyes.
“And who might these people be?”
“They’re guests from the outside who came to help. They’re also here looking for the Western Origin Spirit Maiden. You can trust them.”
“This…”
The Peach Blossom Sage lifted her head in mild surprise, locking eyes with Xiao Kong for a moment. Without pressing further, she nodded thoughtfully.
“Understood. Since they’re personally brought here by you, Lady Kong, I have no reason to doubt them. As for Miss Hen… she is indeed here. However, she’s currently inside the [Great Secret Realm of Chaos], leading the Peach Blossom Guards to repair the underground spiritual veins. I’m not sure when she’ll return. What do you think…?”
Xiao Kong didn’t answer right away. Instead, she turned her questioning gaze toward Violet, who asked curiously,
“By the way, what exactly is this [Great Secret Realm of Chaos]? I only know that it’s supposed to house the [Beast of Chaos] called [Taotie] and contains a spiritual vein that’s crucial to the [Ancient Spirit Realm]. But why would the spiritual vein of the [Ancient Spirit Realm] be hidden in a secret realm, some kind of subspace?”
The young man sitting on the pavilion’s edge, the black dragon in his human form, burst into hearty laughter.
“Little girl, you’ve got all that power, yet you don’t even know about the [Great Secret Realm of Chaos]? Ha! Talk about being out of touch!”
He leaned back, his voice brimming with amusement.
“That’s the birthplace of the [Ancestral Dragon], the former heart of the [Ancient Spirit Realm]! Not only the [Ancestral Dragon], but all the ancient first-generation holy beasts still roaming the world came from that place. It’s one of the oldest origins of the [Ancient Spirit Realm]!”
“The birthplace of the [Ancestral Dragon]?”
Unbothered by the [Black Cloud Sage]’s rude tone and mockery, Violet glanced around at the surrounding sea of clouds, her expression thoughtful.

“Oh… so what you’re saying is, the [Great Secret Realm of Chaos] is the true Cangyun Mountain?”
Xiao Kong stepped in to explain.
“That’s correct, Violet. What you might not know is that the [Ancient Spirit Realm] used to be far larger than it is now. It was more expansive, and there wasn’t anything called Cangyun Mountain back then.”
She continued, her tone steady and factual.
“At that time, the world was divided into two parts. The [Inner Domain] and the [Outer Domain], with their areas roughly in a two-to-one ratio. The [Inner Domain] was where the [Ancestral Dragon] and other spirit beasts lived, while the [Outer Domain] was home to the ancient human clans.”
“When the [Destruction] descended a thousand years ago, it struck the [Inner Domain] first, where the spirit beasts resided. After the war, in order to seal Taotie, the leader of the beasts and source of all corruption, the [Supreme Sacred Fox God] personally severed the [Inner Domain] from the rest of the [Ancient Spirit Realm], creating what we now call the [Great Secret Realm of Chaos].”
“The [Outer Domain] collapsed inward, colliding with itself. The Twelve Peaks of Cangyun rose from the earth’s center as a result. That’s why the entrance to the [Great Secret Realm of Chaos] is located here.”
“So that’s how it is…”
Violet murmured thoughtfully. That Fox God seemed far more powerful than she had imagined. To think it could single-handedly rip away a third of the world and seal it in a separate space. She wondered how its strength compared to that of Sethlin or the ancient Goddess of Earth.
The priestess nodded in acknowledgment, her gaze shifting back to the formation disc carefully placed in the center of the pavilion, well-protected. Sitting before it was the pink-haired young woman, who was watching attentively. Violet smiled faintly.
“Peach Blossom Sage, how about we make a deal?”
…………………………
At the same time, about 200 miles from Peach Blossom Peak.
“Thud…”
A figure plummeted from the sky, crashing into a clearing amidst the forest with a loud, messy sound.
The man, clad entirely in white, from his robes to his hair and even his eyebrows, appeared ghostly pale, like an elderly man drained of color. Yet his skin was unnervingly smooth, like that of a newborn child. This was the figure known as the [Apothecary].
A golden spear of light, about ten feet long, was impaled precisely through his chest, pinning him firmly to the ground. The tip of the spear pierced his heart, while golden arcs of lightning crackled along its shaft, radiating an overwhelming aura of power.
He lay motionless, appearing dead.
Moments later, several figures in blue robes emerged cautiously from the shade of the trees and approached him. They bent down to inspect his condition carefully. After a moment, the leader of the group turned and urgently instructed one of his companions.
“Quick, go summon the master!”
“Hehe, no need for that.”
Before the subordinate could nod and leave, a new voice emerged from the underbrush. A figure pushed through the foliage and stepped into the clearing at a measured pace.
It was a man dressed in flowing white robes, his hair and beard as white as an octogenarian’s. Yet, his youthful skin was as flawless and tender as that of a baby.
It was a sight that defied all logic, but there he stood.
The members of the [Yokai Controlling Sect] quickly bowed low in respect.
“Greetings, Master [Apothecary]!”
“Hmm, all of you can leave now. I’ll handle this myself.”
Although his tone was gentle, the blue-robed subordinates, knowing full well the peculiar temperament of their master, dared not hesitate. They exchanged uneasy glances at the scene before them, then quickly bowed and left the area, leaving the space to him and the “corpse” lying on the ground, a figure nearly identical to him, exceptfor slight differences in attire.
The [Apothecary] crouched down, pulling out what looked like a surgical metal tool. He tapped lightly on the golden spear that pierced the other body, producing a series of crisp metallic “clang clang clang” sounds, and a smile spread across his face.
“What an impressive technique. To condense pure, formless spiritual energy into a weapon harder than the finest divine steel… Killing with a single strike, it’s nothing short of extraordinary. Since when has such a powerful figure emerged among the Cangyun Twelve Peaks?”
He refrained from touching the golden spear, which radiated a potent aura of light energy, instead contenting himself with inspecting the lifeless body before him. Shaking his head in resignation, he muttered, “Completely dead.”
Suddenly, a low, ethereal voice resonated from the surrounding space, as if coming from another dimension.
“Did you fail? What happened over there?”
The [Apothecary] seemed unfazed by the voice’s sudden appearance. Without looking up, he continued examining the body.
“Who knows? As you can see, *I* am already dead.”
The disembodied voice echoed again.
“What now? If Peach Blossom Sage is still in fighting condition, the risks will be far too great. Those losses before were manageable, but the [Great Secret Realm of Chaos] can’t afford any more setbacks.”
The [Apothecary] chuckled and shook his head as he rose to his feet.
“No need to worry. The [Drunken Soul Elixir] is already taking effect. Although Tao Mu has reached the peak of the [Ultimate Transformation], she’s still not a true Hidden Immortal. My medicine will still work on her.”
“For at least three days, she won’t be able to interfere with anything inside the secret realm. That’s more than enough time.”
“How can you be so certain?”
The [Apothecary] grinned, his tone tinged with confidence.
“Of course I’m certain. I am the [Apothecary], after all.”
