With Mangekyo, I Escaped Konoha To Other Worlds [Naruto/AttackOnTitan]-Chapter 28 - 25 The True Location Of The Founding Titan
Chapter 28 - 25 The True Location Of The Founding Titan
'Genjutsu?' The bleeding Ackerman frowned. Another term he didn't recognize.
However, he could piece together what it meant based on everything that happened. If anything, this Genjutsu as he called it, was something similar to Memory manipulation.
'Just like the Founding Titan.' Kenny thought, eyes narrowing.
His grandfather had once told him that the Ackerman's were immune to the power of the king. They couldn't forget so they were targeted.
This was most likely the same power. Now Kenny was a hundred percent sure that this boy before him was just like Uri. He held the power of Titans.
'A Titan in human skin.'
Kenny frowned inwardly, but didn't let it show. Instead, a grin appeared on his face.
"I don't know what you tried to do to me before..." he gasped, blood seeping between his fingers. His breathing was heavy, but he still managed a disheveled grin. "However, it seems whatever it is didn't work. So go ahead and do what you want. But I ain't saying squat to you."
Seiji who was contemplating many things paused for a second. Turning to look at Kenny, he shrugged.
"You can keep quiet if you want. I didn't really need you to talk anyway," Seiji said, a trickle of blood beginning to leak from both eyes as they widened.
'What the?...' Kenny was stunned at the sight, yet before he could even say anything, the man felt something change within him, a strange sensation he couldn't identify. It was as if something fundamental about his existence had been severed.
"Hey, what did you just—" his voice cut short as he stared into Seiji's eyes and his world was enveloped in red.
## Inside Kenny's Memories
Through the lens of his Mangekyo Sharingan, Seiji's consciousness descended into Kenny's mind, passing through barriers that would have been impenetrable without the power of his eyes.
The world around him shifted and reformed. He stood in a dimly lit room, the walls wooden and worn. The memory space was tinged with gray, as if viewed through a filter that dulled all colors.
Before him stood a younger Kenny Ackerman, perhaps in his mid-twenties, cleaning a knife with methodical precision. Blood dripped from the blade onto a cloth spread across his lap. His eyes held a coldness that spoke of countless kills.
Not far away were the corpses of several Military officers. From the looks of it, The Police Force.
'This must be his days of acquiring the title of 'Kenny The Ripper', made possible by their corpses. Nice. Though, not what I'm looking for.' Seiji thought.
Judging from the discussion between Dina, Alma, and the Fake Rod Reiss that never happened in Canon, Seiji was really suspicious about what had happened to the world he was in that had caused it to take such a drastic turn.
The fake Reiss had been a public figure from the first year after Wall Maria's fall. Even if Dina became the Colossal Titan, it still didn't add up why such a decision was taken before her presence was even made known to the Royal Government.
Something had definitely happened for such a decision to be taken. And since Kenny was still alive and served as the leader of the APCS, then he definitely knew what it was.
Seiji concentrated and the scene blurred and reformed.
Now he stood in an open field where there were currently three men standing, but one was in a half transformed Titan state, one held a gun and the other was being held up by the Titan arm.
No doubt, Uri, Rod and Kenny. In the scene, Kenny, perhaps a decade younger than his current self was facing a slender man with kind eyes.
'Uri Reiss.' Seiji made the guess and turned his head. 'Meaning that's Rod. The true Rod Reiss.'
Kenny held a knife, poised to strike, while Uri simply stood with his hands at his sides, unafraid. There was a tension between them, like a wire pulled taut.
Kenny laughed harshly. "You don't know a damn thing about me."
"I know enough," Uri replied. Then, to Kenny's shock, he knelt down, bowing his head. "I apologize for the persecution your family has suffered. The sins of my ancestors are unforgivable."
Kenny stood frozen, knife still in hand, utterly confused by this display of humility from the most powerful man within the walls.
Seiji watched with interest. This was the moment that had changed Kenny, that had transformed him from an assassin hunting the Reiss family to their most loyal protector. But it still wasn't what he needed.
Again, Seiji willed the memory to shift. Focusing more on exactly what he wanted, guiding Kenny's subconscious to anything that met his parameters.
Fall of Wall Maria, Rod Reiss...
The scene dissolved and reformed. Now he stood in what appeared to be an office, richly furnished.
Inside the room, were three people. The first two could easily be identified as an older Kenny and older Rod Reiss compared to the time of Uri.
The third, it was a hooded figure standing at the sides, looking out the window. From his position, Seiji couldn't see who they were.
If he couldn't, then it meant Kenny hadn't even slightly glimpsed their face yet. Meaning he couldn't do so either.
Kenny stood before a desk, behind which sat a heavy-set man—Rod Reiss.
"No news?" Rod asked, his voice grave. "It's been weeks."
"Sorry to disappoint ya..." Kenny replied taking a plop on the chair informally and covering his face with his fedora hat. "But no. Currently, still no concrete information on your attacker."
BANG!
Rod slammed his fist on the table. "The Royal Family was attacked."
"Indeed. Yet all of you suck at describing people. We can't even get a proper portrait drawn from any of your descriptions. Plus it's only been a few weeks. Forget the fact that we just lost wall Maria and refugees are swarming everywhere, covering every part of the walls is too high a requirement in such short time." In response to Rod's raging, Kenny didn't even bat an eyelid.
Seiji watched Rod trembling slightly with an emotion he couldn't quite make yet. From the discussion, this should be the time of the Fall of Wall Maria. A few weeks further.
'It seems they're trying to find Grisha for the death of the Reiss.'
They never found him. After all, Wall Maria where Grisha lived was already Titan land, and the vast majority of the people in Zhiganshina were gone.
Very few managed to escape. And even fewer might know who Grisha was. Even if they did, Grisha was dead. It was one thing to know Grisha. It was another to know that Grisha Jaeger had family. And it was another to know where exactly that family was.
Wall Maria was vast, and had villages the central government didn't even know existed.
Carla died as well.
Finding Grisha's son in the group of refugees? That would require a locator spell from an occultist.
It was no surprise that Eren Jaeger was never found by the royal Government until he actually showed his powers.
In such medieval times, it was way too...
"Let it be."
A voice cut in. 'Huh?' Seiji who was watching turned to the owner of the voice.
It was a female voice, coming from the person looking out the window.
Meanwhile, Rod's face that looked like he was about to explode, collapsed in disbelief.
"No. That can't be. He..."
"Didn't go through with it. That alone is enough to let him be." The female replied again. Her voice was soft, calm and most importantly... Young.
Seiji watched as Rod couldn't say a word anymore. His surprise even more prominent.
What was going on? Why was The King of the walls being told what to do?
In the memory, Rod finally calmed down.
"Frieda..." he began, his tone almost pleading. "You can't be serious. Think about what could have happened if he had—"
"But he didn't," the hooded figure interrupted, finally turning from the window.
As she turned, the hood fell back slightly, revealing long dark hair and piercing blue eyes that seemed to hold wisdom beyond their years. Eyes that were hauntingly familiar to Seiji.
'Frieda Reiss,' Seiji realized with shock. 'She's alive!'
"He came with the intention," Frieda continued, her voice soft yet carrying unmistakable authority. "He stood before me with rage in his eyes, talking about the death of his wife. But when the moment came..." She paused, her expression distant. "Something held him back. He couldn't do it."
The memory was still ongoing, but Seiji barely had the interest to listen now. The shock that came with what he just saw couldn't be out in words.
Frieda Reiss ... Was still alive and well instead of being a dead ghost in Grisha's dead stomach.
Fuck! Fate just screwed with him again.
Seiji's mind raced at what he heard. If Frieda was still alive, then Grisha had never killed her. If he didn't kill her, then that meant he never killed the Reiss family.
It was like a row of dominoes falling one after another in perfect alignment. The realization which seemed elusive so far now struck harder than a construction worker on Payday.
If Frieda was still alive, it meant one thing and one thing only. That all this time, the Founding Titan was never with Eren to begin with, and everything Seiji thought he knew about this world was wrong.
"And what happens when he finds his courage?" Rod demanded. "When he comes back to finish what he started?"
"We'll be ready," Frieda said simply. "We've survived this long by being cautious."
Kenny, who had been silent, finally spoke. "So what's the plan? We can't just sit around waiting for him to strike again."
Frieda moved closer to the desk, fully revealing her face now. She was young—no more than fifteen or sixteen—but carried herself with the dignity of someone far older.
"We go deeper into hiding," she said. "Not just from this Grisha Jaeger, but from whoever sent the Colossal and Armored Titans to break our walls."
"You think the attacks are connected?" Kenny asked.
"I don't know," Frieda admitted. "But I won't take chances. As of today, the Reiss family is officially dead."
Rod's eyes widened. "What?"
"Publicly, we'll announce that the Reiss family was attacked, and only you survived, Rod," Frieda explained. "But in reality, we'll all go into separate hiding. You'll be replaced by a body double who will act as the public face of the family."
Kenny whistled low. "Extreme measures."
"Necessary ones," Frieda countered. "The double will continue your work with the government, while the real you and the rest of our family hide in the capital. I will take a different path."
"Where will you go?" Rod asked, concern etching his features.
"I've already thought of the perfect cover. The Emin Ridge Monastery down south of Wall Rose," Frieda replied. "I'll pose as a novice nun. No one would think to look for the true ruler of these walls in such a humble place."
Seiji listened, pieces falling into place. So this was why the timeline had changed. Grisha had failed where he was supposed to succeed. But why? What could have caused him to hesitate?
"You thought this through, kid?" Kenny asked, eyeing Frieda with a mixture of respect and doubt.
"Yes," Frieda nodded firmly. "I've considered all options. This gives us the best chance of protecting the Founding Titan until the transfer ceremony."
Rod leaned forward. "And when will we see you again?"
"When it's time for the transfer ceremony, not before," Frieda said. "It's safer this way."
"I will stay alone, except for one exception." Frieda's expression softened. "Historia. She'll come with me."
The faces of both men changed. Kenny looked like he just heard something interesting while Rod seemed to be struck with a thunderbolt.
"You've met her?"
"Yes I have. And she'll be coming with me."
Rod stood abruptly. "Now wait just a—"
"It's already decided," Frieda cut him off, her gentle tone belying the steel in her words. "She's my sister, and she deserves better than a life in the shadows, under an abusive mother. At the monastery, she can at least have some semblance of freedom."
Rod fell silent, clearly knowing better than to argue further.
Seiji on the other hand, had to deal with another bomb. Historia wasn't in the military? She was with Frieda at a monastery?
That just made the timeline even more unrecognizable. Come to think of it, Historia had only been transferred to he military because the council decided to erase the shame of Rod's infidelity.
However, in this reality, Frieda was still alive. Meaning she would never allow Historia's original fate to befall her.
But if Historia never joined the Cadet Corps, it meant that Ymir, the holder of the Jaw Titan would never join either. From what Seiji remembered, Ymir only joined due to her interest in Historia.
If Historia's situation was never overheard at the church from those priests, then it meant she would never join the Cadet corps. The butterfly effect was more extensive than he'd imagined.
'If Historia never joined the military, then Ymir never had reason to follow her there. And if Frieda still has the Founding Titan, then Eren only has the Attack Titan.'
Kenny's voice brought Seiji back to the memory. "And what about the rest of us? Business as usual?"
"For you, yes," Frieda nodded. "Continue hunting for information about the Colossal and Armored Titans. But be discreet."
Frieda moved toward the door. "I leave tomorrow at dawn. Make the preparations."
As she passed Kenny, she paused. "And Kenny..."
"Yeah?"
"If you find Grisha Jaeger... bring him to me alive. I want to understand why he came, and why he couldn't go through with it."
The scene began to dissolve, Kenny's memory shifting as Seiji had seen enough. The implications were staggering.
The memory faded to black, and Seiji felt himself being pulled back to reality.
## Outside Kenny's Mind
Seiji staggered slightly as his consciousness returned to his body, blood now streaming freely from both eyes. The price of using the Mangekyo so extensively was steep, but the information gained was invaluable.
Before him, Kenny was on his knees, panting. The experience of having his memories forcibly examined had left him drained.
"What... what the hell did you do to me?" Kenny gasped, clutching his bleeding arm stump.
Seiji wiped the blood from his eyes. "I searched your memories. Quite the interesting life you've led, Kenny."
His mind was still processing the revelations. "So the Reiss family didn't die. They're alive."
"And Frieda Reiss still holds the Founding Titan," Seiji continued, more to himself than to Kenny. "Which means..."
Everything made sense now. If Frieda was still alive, it meant Grisha Jaeger had failed to take the Founding Titan. And if Grisha failed, then Eren never received it.
"If Frieda is still alive then she's the Holder instead of Mr. Genocide," Seiji murmured.
The realization hit him like a physical blow. His very presence in this world had changed things. Future Eren never existed in this timeline. Without Future Eren pushing his father to kill the Reiss family, Grisha had hesitated. Without the Founder, Eren could never initiate the Rumbling. And if he couldn't complete the Rumbling, he could never affect the past.
Realizing this, Seiji didn't even know what to say. novelbuddy.cσ๓
"How I wish I had been taken to another fictional word," Seiji murmured as he clicked his tongue in annoyance. The Emin ridge Monastery was South wall Rose. Meaning he had to go back the same way he came. "Well, Kenny, it's been enlightening."
He had to go back. Thankfully however at least he knew where the Target was this time.
"What, you're not going to kill me?" Kenny asked, genuine surprise in his voice.
Seiji looked back at him. "You're already bleeding out. And who knows? Maybe you'll survive. Either way, you're no threat to me now."
With that, Seiji turned and walked away, leaving Kenny slumped against the ground, clutching his bleeding stump.
Kenny watched him leave, mind racing. Seeing that Seiji seriously didn't finish him off, the man gritted his teeth and tore off a piece of clothing to wrap around his bleeding stump.
Looking around, his gaze wandered to the Fedora hat that was sliced in half. Seeing this, he let out a self depreciating smile before picking it up.
"Truly an Interesting foe indeed." The man thought as he examined the hat that had been ruined. Turning it around, the first thing that came to sight was a paper attached to it, carrying weird symbols and glowing brighter with each passing second.
"What in the ..."
BOOM!
## Seiji's POV
The loud explosion in the background did nothing to halt Seiji's movements as he made his way through the trees, his mind racing with everything he'd learned from Kenny's memories.
'Looks like he picked up the hat. Too bad, he would have lived if he didn't,' he thought. Moving on.
'My arrival changed the deterministic timeline. Future Eren never existed, which means he never influenced past events. The butterfly effect in its purest form.'
It made sense now. Dina Fritz eating Bertholdt instead of Carla Jaeger. Grisha never killing the Reiss family. Frieda Reiss still being alive and in possession of the Founding Titan.
None of these things could happen if there was no Eren to make it happen, and since his presence here made sure Eren would never be able to do any of that, it meant the Future version of Eren Jaeger who caused the rumbling never came into fruition.
It was a perfect paradox. By simply existing in this world, Seiji had rewritten its future, which had in turn changed its past.
The implications were staggering. Everything he'd known about this world, every event he'd anticipated based on his meta-knowledge of Attack on Titan, was now invalid. He was in uncharted territory.
But that didn't change his objective. If anything, it made it clearer. Frieda Reiss held the Founding Titan. She was at the Emin Ridge Monastery. That's where he needed to go.
As he approached a small clearing, he saw his shadow clone waiting, holding three captives—Dina Fritz, Alma, and the fake Rod Reiss. All three looked terrified, bound with chakra-infused rope.
The clone nodded at Seiji's approach, then disappeared in a puff of smoke, transferring its memories and experiences directly to the original. Seiji caught Dina as she nearly fell forward, the others collapsing to the ground now that the clone was no longer supporting them.
"P-please," the fake Rod Reiss begged. "I'm just a decoy. I don't know anything important. I'm nobody! I was just doing my job." He broke down, tears streaming in his eyes.
"I have money—I can pay you!"
Alma was more dignified in her terror, her chin raised despite the fear in her eyes. "The king will have your head for this," she hissed.
Seiji ignored them both, instead bending down to retrieve a blade that lay on the floor. "The king," he said quietly, "is a puppet. And the true ruler is currently hiding as a nun at Emin Ridge Monastery."
Alma's face went white. "How could you possibly—"
Her words were cut short as Seiji's blade flashed, opening her throat in one swift motion. Blood spurted, and she collapsed, eyes wide with shock.
The fake Rod screamed, trying to scramble away despite his bonds. "No! Please! I'll tell you anything—"
"You have nothing to tell me that I don't already know," Seiji replied calmly, bringing the blade down once more. This man wasn't just a pure civilian, so it was impossible for him to be completely innocent. Plus, Seiji didn't want to leave any loose ends.
He wasn't a murderous hobo. It's just habit. This was the Shinobi way he had been raised with.
Silence fell in the forest. broken only by the sound of blood dripping onto the stone floor. Seiji cleaned his blade methodically before turning to the last remaining prisoner.
Dina Fritz stared up at him, her face a mixture of defiance and fear. Unlike the others, she had remained silent throughout, watching his every move with calculating eyes.
Seiji crouched down before her, studying her face. The face of a woman who, in another timeline, would have been the Smiling Titan that devoured Eren's mother. Now she was the Colossal Titan holder, an Eldian Restorationist far from home.
"Alright Mam," Seiji said, his voice almost conversational as he twirled the bloody knife in his hand. "What exactly do I do with you now?"
