Wizard: Adventures in Two Worlds-Chapter 647 - 5: Jim
Barro, young and strong, was fast as lightning, having once achieved outstanding results in the campus sports meet.
At this moment, he sprinted forward but surprisingly struggled to keep up with the homeless man pushing a bicycle.
This constitution...
Even someone delivering food could sustain himself, right?
Fortunately.
The homeless man seemed unfamiliar with the surrounding roads, and in his panic, he dashed into a dead-end alley.
"Stop!"
"You, stop right there!"
Barro cornered him in the alley, and under the flickering streetlight shadows, he grabbed the man’s shoulder:
"Run, go ahead and keep running..."
"Professor Jim!"
The homeless man turned around, and the familiar face made Barro’s heart race. A cold chill ran from his tailbone straight to the back of his head, involuntarily sending a shiver down his spine.
What the hell!
How could Professor Jim, who had already passed away, appear before him?
"It’s me."
The homeless-looking Professor Jim nodded slowly:
"Barro, don’t panic. I’m not dead. Someone just wanted me dead, so I had to create an accident to cover it up."
"Ah!"
Barro snapped back, his mind buzzing, and instinctively spoke:
"Someone wants to harm you?"
"Then call the police! Have them arrested; Trish hasn’t been well,"
Trish was Professor Jim’s daughter, an outstanding student in literature and history, and also the object of Barro’s affections.
"Call the police?"
Jim shook his head, his expression complex:
"The police can’t handle them."
"Listen!"
He firmly gripped Barro’s shoulder, his face serious:
"Barro, I need you to do something for me."
"Hiss..."
Barro felt as if his shoulder was caught in iron tongs, the pain of his flesh and bones stabbing through, and couldn’t help but gasp.
Such strength!
How could Professor Jim possibly have such terrifying power at his age?
"Tell me, tell me, I’ll help however I can."
"Remember the culture fluid in the safe?"
"Remember?"
"Is it still there?"
"It is."
Barro nodded:
"Professor Karl’s research doesn’t need those culture fluids; they’re still sitting there, untouched."
"That’s good." Upon hearing this, Jim let out a sigh of relief and relaxed his grip slightly.
"I need you to bring out the No. 7 Reagent from inside."
?
Barro was stunned, speaking softly:
"Professor, the items in the lab belong to BHP Group, and no one can take them without the responsible person’s permission."
"Even for you and Professor Karl, trying to take something out requires reporting first."
"I..."
"Simply can’t get through security checks."
"Heh..." Jim chuckled softly at these words:
"Barro, you’re still so obedient."
"You should ask around; which student hasn’t taken something from the lab or brought in something they shouldn’t have?"
Barro pursed his lips.
He was always cautious, never allowing himself to do things that didn’t conform to the rules, gradually becoming a habit.
"Professor."
Speaking in a low voice, Barro said:
"I think if you have a problem, you should go to the police; hiding like this isn’t a solution either?"
"Trish is waiting for you to come back."
"Bang!"
Jim looked angry, punching the wall behind Barro, the hard concrete wall surprisingly leaving a fist mark.
If it landed on the body...
Barro’s eyeballs contracted, his face full of disbelief.
How could the once frail and often on leave Professor Jim possess such terrifying power?
"Barro, you are really useless. I always had high hopes for you." Jim shook his head, suddenly opening his mouth to bite towards Barro’s throat.
"Pfft!"
"Ah!"
Barro only felt a sharp pain in his neck, screaming in agony as he stumbled back. Reaching to feel the pain, his palm was covered in blood, terrifying him:
"Professor, what did you do to me?"
"A little toxin."
Jim sneered:
"Look at your blood; is it turning blue?"
"I’ll give you three days to bring me the stuff from the lab, or you’ll be poisoned to death!"
As he watched the blood on his hand gradually turning a shade of blue, Barro’s face turned pale, his body chilling.
"Don’t think about finding a doctor to detoxify you; it’s no use." Jim snorted softly:
"In this world, only I can cure this poison."
"Three days!"
He raised his voice:
"I only give you three days."
"Swoosh!"
With those words, Professor Jim rushed toward the wall behind him, lightly tapping it with his hands and feet, crawling upward like a nimble gecko, disappearing in the blink of an eye.
Watching this scene, Barro was in a daze, feeling like his decade-long values were crumbling.
People,
how can they do such things?
That person...
was he really Professor Jim?
He was just an ordinary university student and had never thought he would one day encounter such an event.
Leading his bicycle, he stumbled out of the alley. The cold night wind blowing, Barro instinctively tightened his clothes.
How did this happen?
In the darkness.
Two figures landed deep within the alley, one sniffing the air, speaking in a muffled voice:
"That thing has been here, along with a strange scent."
"Jim..." the other rubbed his chin, speaking slowly:
"The transforming monster in him must be a special variant, only now awakening to extraordinary power after so many years of fusion."
"Find out who the other person is."
"Yes."
The figures flickered and disappeared.

"Professor Karl!"
"Riley!"
In a corner of the library, the two shook hands and sat down.
"I didn’t expect Professor Karl to also be interested in history." Riley smiled, handing over several books:
"Looks like we’ll have common topics in the future."
"While observing some data on biological evolution, I discovered that there were special changes hundreds of years ago, seemingly related to the historical environment at the time." Karl took the books, flipping through them casually:
"So I want to find historical books from that time. Thanks to you, these materials are hard to find."
"Six hundred years ago was a chaotic era. Due to tectonic collisions, various regions underwent complex migration processes, which is indeed difficult to understand." Riley nodded:
"Whether it’s biology or history, in the end, it seems they all connect back to geology."
Karl smiled silently.
Six hundred years ago, this land housed numerous countries, which have now become a unified Federation.
Dozens of states make up the Federation; in some cases, they govern themselves, not subjected to the Federation’s control.
Looking at the world map, you can vaguely see traces of the Eastern Kingdom Continent’s patchwork of nations from back then, though it has changed greatly.
Six hundred years ago?
He remembered leaving the Eastern Kingdom Continent just a few decades ago, yet so much time had passed here.
Moreover,
geographical features, history, environment...
all underwent massive changes, and even the Gods, who ruled this world for over ten millennia, were gone.
One should know,
the Gods of the Eastern Kingdom Continent weren’t ordinary Divine; each could be traced back to ancient times.
The lowest were Sixth Tier!
Higher than him by one tier.
Such beings are almost impossible to kill, so what exactly happened back then?
"Six hundred years ago was also called the Era of Gods when science was just awakening, and people still in religious ignorance began suppressing science, creating chaos."
Riley said,
"Coupled with tectonic movements during that period, it caused the world’s situation to be violently unstable for some time."
"It wasn’t until two hundred years ago, when the Federation was established, that things calmed down."
Karl nodded and continued to pore over the book in his hands.
For some reason, there isn’t much research about history from six hundred years ago in this world. Perhaps the lack of historical records from that time resulted in the relative scarcity of truthful books.
"Bang!"
Suddenly.
A loud noise from afar made both of them look up.
"Over there is..."
Riley sprang to her feet, an experienced look flashed in her eyes:
"The lab’s on fire!"
