Worldwide Awakening: My Soul Kinds Are Lost-Chapter 600: Diverting trouble, letting the protagonist help attract some firepower_1
Someone is investigating me? Bai Xuan stared at the secret message he'd received.
This instantly made him tense, mainly because recent events had been rather complex.
First, Wang Xianyu, the leader of The North River Space-Time Base, was transferred out, publicly announced as executing a secret plan. Subsequently, the South Rotating Space-Time Base experienced a period of lockdown.
Moreover, lately, he had felt someone secretly observing him. Initially, he dismissed it as an illusion, but after receiving this message, he realized it was no illusion—someone was indeed investigating him.
It seems I must summon the ninth Heroic Spirit soon.
He had already summoned the eighth Heroic Spirit, and with the resources gathered through the dual systems, all his Heroic Spirits had now achieved their seventh awakening.
However, he had kept his true strength hidden. Ostensibly, all his Heroic Spirits had only undergone three awakenings; any more would risk exposing anomalies.
[The Truth Behind the Prying Eyes]

[Reward: Simulation Internal Synchronization System Panel]
An abrupt task popped up in the Simulator System, making Bai Xuan tense. This interaction had come a little late, but it was also opportune.
It was, however, opportune. His ninth simulation was set to enter the Ancient Era, and with the System Panel, his development would proceed much more smoothly.
More importantly, there was the aspect of time. He knew very well that the further back the era, the longer the passage of time would be.
After obtaining the System Panel, he could slowly enhance his capabilities by boosting his Proficiency.
This was primarily because the System Panel possessed a unique power: any capabilities or Talents existing on it would neither disappear nor diminish. Thus, if he maxed out all his Talents and abilities in the Ancient Era, they would return with him.
This was particularly important for increasing his Proficiency with the Nine Revolutions Inner Pellet Technique.
I have to wait until the task is completed to summon the ninth Heroic Spirit. Bai Xuan could only postpone it. Once this task was completed, it would be his moment to skyrocket to prominence.
Yet, accomplishing this task would likely not be easy. After all, for a task to be generated with such a substantial reward meant that the underlying secrets were significant, possibly even capable of pushing him into a desperate situation.
I need to increase the strength of my Heroic Spirits. At the very least, they need to achieve eight awakenings—no, nine!
But I don't have enough Awakening Materials...
Bai Xuan found himself in a predicament. Awakening eight Heroic Spirits eight times would require tremendous resources. He lacked the power or connections to gather them in such a short time, let alone enough for nine awakenings.
By now, only a small portion of the Awakening Materials he obtained came from space-time fragments; the majority were earned by completing System tasks.
I'll have to grind tasks while investigating.
Actually, he was more inclined to complete the task concerning the origin of the System Panel. He was just one point away from a double-digit power score. Such a substantial reward could elevate his strength to rival that of a Heroic Spirit with ten awakenings. However, this task was even more challenging than The Truth Behind the Prying Eyes task he had just received.
At least The Truth Behind the Prying Eyes task provided some clues he could follow using his connections.
The fact that someone could send him this note indicated that although the involved parties were high-level, they weren't so powerful as to be completely untouchable.
He suspected someone was targeting his method of summoning multiple Unparalleled Quality Spirits. However, no such method existed; he couldn't produce it even if he wanted to.
He ruled out Wang Xianyu; Wang Xianyu had been transferred, quite possibly due to his connection with Bai Xuan. 𝑓𝘳𝑒𝑒𝓌𝘦𝘣𝘯ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝑚
After all, Wang Xianyu used to visit him frequently but had abruptly stopped. Those making a move wouldn't assume Wang Xianyu had given up; rather, they'd believe he had obtained the method and was simply denying it.
This left them no choice but to focus on Bai Xuan.
Indeed, I've been attracting too much attention. He felt helpless about this but had no choice. He couldn't intentionally lower the quality of his Heroic Spirits because of these issues.
It was impossible; he was still hoping to turn his fate around with his Heroic Spirits.
It now appears the lockdown of the South Rotating Space-Time Base might have been intended to deal with Wang Xianyu, who was, after all, an Elder of the Federation.
But there's still one thing I don't get. Wouldn't it be easier to deal with me than with Wang Xianyu? Or is this whole situation genuinely a spark for a power struggle?
Am I just an innocent bystander caught in this turmoil?
A myriad of thoughts surfaced in Bai Xuan's mind, but he eventually dismissed them. If that were indeed the case, there was nothing he could do.
Although he found Wang Xianyu annoying, he had to admit Wang Xianyu had treated him well. Since Wang Xianyu's situation had inadvertently dragged him into trouble, he could only reluctantly accept it.
Moreover, he didn't believe things would remain peaceful even if he truly managed to summon nine Unparalleled Quality Heroic Spirits. Trouble was bound to come, sooner or later.
All problems led back to one thing: his lack of power.
If he possessed nine Heroic Spirits that had undergone ten awakenings, would the masterminds behind this dare covet his secrets? He could kill them on the spot, and no one would dare retaliate.
KNOCK, KNOCK, KNOCK.
A knock on the door interrupted Bai Xuan's thoughts.
Bai Xuan's heart clenched. He peeked through the peephole; it seemed to be a delivery man.
"Who's there?" Bai Xuan questioned.
"Delivery, open the door," came the reply.
"I didn't buy anything," Bai Xuan refused without hesitation. He didn't have the money to buy anything.
He had received deliveries in the past, but they were all sent by Wang Xianyu. Now that Wang Xianyu was missing, there was no way he'd have a delivery.
Upon careful consideration, he quickly deduced that the visitor was likely from the Federation.
The Federation? Bai Xuan's heart sank. If that were the case, things would become difficult.
"The delivery is addressed to Bai Xuan, and this is the correct address. If you refuse to sign for it, I can return it." The man on the other side didn't seem insistent.
Bai Xuan knew this was likely a probe. If he showed any sign of abnormality, the investigation into him would intensify, jeopardizing his plans.
But the task isn't complete. Did I guess wrong? He had surmised the visitor was from the Federation, yet the task remained.
No, I didn't guess wrong. My answer was just too broad and lacked concrete evidence, so it was deemed incomplete! Bai Xuan quickly came to this realization.
"Hold on, let me take a look." With that, Bai Xuan opened the door.
Since avoidance wouldn't solve the problem, he might as well confront them head-on to try and glean more clues and intelligence.
Otherwise, when would he ever complete the task?
Besides, only by showing no weakness could he buy more time and prevent the Federation from uncovering his true situation.
Otherwise, with his current strength, he was no match for a behemoth like the Federation.
「...」
"The results for Bai Xuan are out," the Great Elder said, producing a comparison report and handing it to Elder Jia You and the Third Elder. "According to the investigation, there were no resource-related issues. The Awakening Materials used by the eight third-time awakened Heroic Spirits were normal."
"So, Wang Xianyu lied to us?" the Third Elder interjected, being the first to voice doubt.
"No, that premise assumes Bai Xuan isn't hiding his true strength," Elder Jia You remarked, his tone neutral as he didn't harbor as much prejudice against Wang Linchi.
"Therefore, I've arranged for someone to conduct a test. If all goes well, we should have the results within a few days." The Great Elder had grown suspicious upon receiving the initial report, which prompted him to dispatch someone.
The Third Elder snorted disdainfully. "First, you claimed Wang Xianyu was hiding his strength, and now you're saying Bai Xuan is hiding his.
"In my opinion, they're both the same: one is a good-for-nothing who relies on external force, and the other is a slacker wasting his Talent."
In the Third Elder's eyes, the Great Elder's actions seemed pointless.
"Enough! Hold your tongue," the Great Elder said, a headache forming. The Third Elder's temper and sharp tongue had been worsening lately, so he rebuked him sharply: "If you continue to approach your duties with such a biased attitude, you can take a few days off."
The Third Elder felt quite wronged; he believed he was merely trying to prevent the Great Elder from wasting the Federation's resources. However, faced with the Great Elder's authority, he bit his tongue and refrained from retorting.
