Wrong Love, Final Goodbye: She'll Never Look Back-Chapter 368: Brother Pierce Is Acting Strange!
Tanya Sinclair told herself not to overthink.
It’s just a meal... It’s okay.
After all, he’s Declan Pierce.
But precisely because he is Declan Pierce, Tanya Sinclair stubbornly felt that they should have come to this restaurant first...
On the other side, in the private room.
Besides Declan Pierce and Wynn Winslow, there were the two brothers from The Monroe Family.
Jasper Monroe was outside on the terrace taking a work call, leaving Wynn Winslow, Zion Monroe, and Declan Pierce at the table.
Only when Declan Pierce put down the phone did Zion Monroe dare to speak.
"Is it Tanya, right?" Zion Monroe said boldly, "Brother Pierce, that’s not fair, why didn’t you just bring her along for dinner? I haven’t seen Tanya in ages, I really miss her!"
Declan Pierce lifted his lids, giving him a cool glance.
"Isn’t there enough food on the table to keep your mouth shut?"
Zion Monroe suddenly felt a chill under Declan’s gaze.
Although Declan Pierce shows no signs on the surface and maintains a poker face with everyone other than Tanya, Zion Monroe’s intuition told him that Declan Pierce’s mood was bad now.
He better avoid stepping on Declan Pierce’s nerve.
Wynn Winslow glanced at Declan Pierce, a hint of darkness flashed in those beautiful glass bead-like eyes but quickly returned to normal.
"Oh, today’s meal is specially for my welcome by Declan’s brother! Why bring someone else!" Wynn Winslow’s tone was half coquettish and half defiant.
Zion Monroe laughed, "Ms. Winslow, how is Tanya an outsider? She’s Brother Pierce’s in..."
Before he finished speaking, he saw Declan Pierce casually pick up a piece of pan-fried bass and place it into Wynn Winslow’s bowl.
"Try it, it’s the restaurant’s special dish, you should like it." His tone was so faint that it was hard to detect any emotion, but Zion Monroe felt as if he had been struck by lightning.
Declan Pierce personally served Wynn Winslow?
No way, since when did Declan Pierce take care of any woman other than Tanya?
Zion Monroe dared not ask, his eyes darted between Declan Pierce and Wynn Winslow.
Something’s wrong!
Things are really wrong!
Jasper Monroe had finished his call and returned, taking in the scene without any visible reaction and adjusting the gold-rimmed glasses on his nose.
Tanya Sinclair arrived at the restaurant and saw Janne Hayes waiting at the door as soon as she got out of the car.
"Ms. Sinclair." Janne Hayes greeted her with a smile.
Tanya Sinclair instinctively looked behind him.
Janne Hayes naturally knew what she was waiting for.
"Ms. Sinclair, President Pierce is occupied inside. He sent me to escort you in."
Tanya Sinclair withdrew her gaze, expertly hiding the fleeting disappointment in her eyes.
"Thank you for your trouble." Tanya Sinclair nodded politely to Janne Hayes. "Shall we go in?"
Janne Hayes led Tanya Sinclair to the private room.
As Tanya pushed open the door, a crack, Wynn Winslow’s crisp, melodious laughter came through first.
"Zion Monroe, you’re not a good teacher! I played three rounds of rock-paper-scissors and lost them all! Drink up!"
Tanya Sinclair looked inside and first saw Declan Pierce’s familiar back, his shoulders broad, with beautiful proportions and lines.
And Wynn Winslow sat beside him, with one of Declan Pierce’s hands casually resting on the chair behind Wynn, from her perspective it looked like a half embrace.
His long, clean fingers absently rubbed the chair.
Tanya Sinclair opened the door and entered.
"Sorry to intrude on your gathering."
Jasper Monroe, facing the door, had already noticed as Tanya pushed the door open.
Zion Monroe turned his head and, seeing Tanya Sinclair, beamed warmly: "Tanya, long time no see! Come and sit!"
Tanya Sinclair smiled at Zion Monroe and walked over, noticing the table was almost finished.
Declan Pierce did not get up, simply raised his hand to hold hers gently, saying warmly: "Have you eaten? If not, we can order a few dishes again. Check the menu, the signature dishes here are quite good, you might like them."
"..."
Tanya Sinclair lowered her eyes to where Declan Pierce held her hand, a bit cool, and the presence of that chill suddenly became incredibly noticeable.
"I’ve eaten." Tanya Sinclair tried to appear natural, first glancing across at Jasper Monroe.
Declan Pierce proceeded to introduce: "Jasper Monroe, Zion Monroe’s elder brother."
Jasper Monroe nodded in acknowledgment: "Ms. Sinclair."
Tanya Sinclair naturally had heard of Jasper Monroe’s name and nodded politely, "Mr. Monroe."
Her gaze then shifted over Declan Pierce and landed on Wynn Winslow.
"Ms. Winslow, nice to see you again."
Wynn Winslow met Tanya Sinclair’s eyes and spoke lazily: "Long time no see, Ms. Sinclair. It’s all Declan’s fault, he knows my memory isn’t great, and yet after I arrived, he didn’t even bring you up. I completely forgot. I should have asked him to invite you along for dinner sooner."
Her beautiful mixed-race face held a brilliant, almost provocative smile.
Zion Monroe was taken aback.
He glanced nervously at Declan Pierce, fearing Wynn Winslow’s provocation might upset Tanya Sinclair and lead Declan Pierce to react drastically, perhaps even drawing a gun on her!
But, to his surprise, nothing happened.
Declan Pierce sat there indifferently, his posture relaxed, as if he hadn’t even heard Wynn Winslow’s words.
Even if somewhat slow, Zion Monroe sensed something was off... Brother Pierce was acting very unusually today!
Tanya Sinclair knew of Wynn Winslow’s feelings for Declan Pierce long ago.
Her provocation, in Tanya Sinclair’s eyes, was just like a child’s tantrum.
She didn’t care much about it, only replied calmly, "There’s no need, you’ve come as a guest. It’s only right for Declan to earnestly entertain you. I was busy earlier and took a moment to come to talk to Declan about something important..."
Tanya Sinclair hadn’t finished her sentence when the waiter came in pushing a trolley with desserts.
All five are different.
Declan Pierce placed a bowl of red bean soup with tangerine peel in front of Tanya Sinclair.
He kindly suggested: "Try it, it tastes rather nice."
Wynn Winslow reached out for the frozen mango sago but Declan Pierce moved faster and took it away.
"Avoid these during your period."
Tanya Sinclair’s hand holding the spoon froze slightly.
Wynn Winslow pouted: "I’ll just have a taste."
Declan Pierce glanced at her, his tone cool, "If your stomach hurts later, don’t come crying to me."
Despite his words, Declan Pierce didn’t hesitate to exchange his dessert with Wynn’s and took a bite himself, cutting off Wynn’s desire completely.
"..."
Tanya Sinclair found the red beans in her mouth too sweet, even bitter.
Suddenly, she lost her appetite, put down the bowl, and stood up.
"I’m sorry Mr. Monroe, and Young Mr. Monroe. I’m not feeling well and would like to go back and rest." She looked at Declan Pierce beside her, trying to keep her tone even, "Let’s go back."
