Wrong Love, Final Goodbye: She'll Never Look Back-Chapter 371: Immediate Surgery!
Tanya turned back after finishing the call and saw Declan lazily leaning against the sofa, drowsy, staring at her without blinking.
In that instant, Tanya inexplicably thought of a cat.
She couldn’t help but smile, walked towards Declan, and before she got close, he, growing impatient, reached out and pulled her into his arms.
For the sake of the viewing experience, the living room was lit only by a floor lamp, blending with the bluish cold light from the screen, creating an oddly harmonious glow on Declan’s face.
"Who were you talking to?" he asked softly, his voice tinged with sleepy grogginess.
"Secretary-General Crawford, there’s a car to pick me up at the door at eight tomorrow morning," Tanya replied truthfully. Holding Declan’s face, she earnestly said, "Behave yourself at home and wait for me to come back. The medication I gave you needs to be taken on time every day. Take good care of yourself."
He gazed at her with eyes half-open, the blinking slow, smiling as he asked, "Hmm, anything else?"
"Don’t think about pushing me away," Tanya said sternly, putting on a serious face, "If you do what you did regarding Wynn again, I’ll truly get angry. And the consequences of my anger are very serious."
Declan closed his eyes and lazily smiled, "Alright."
He pulled her into his embrace; the sofa was large and soft enough for both of them to lie down.
Declan held her tightly; Tanya inhaled his clean and pleasant scent, and her heart inexplicably settled.
She lightly closed her eyes, drowsiness gradually overtaking her.
"Declan."
"Hmm?"
"This year, I’ll rush back to spend the New Year with you. I’ll cook the New Year’s Eve dinner! Let you taste my cooking skills."
Declan smiled tenderly, "Alright."
Tanya nestled deeper into his embrace, slowly finding his distinctively jointed hand and interlocking her fingers with his.
"Declan, I really, really like you. That day at the temple, I made a deal with The Saint, and it agreed to let you live well and have a long life."
She’s always been rational and knows life is determined by fate, with layers of destiny that ordinary people can’t escape.
But solely for Declan, she sensibly hopes there’s a divine presence to bless him.
Out of Tanya’s sight, Declan slowly opened his eyes, a mix of intense sadness and equal happiness overwhelming him to the point where he couldn’t speak. After regaining composure, he smiled as usual and said, "I will."
Winter days brighten late; Tanya woke before the alarm, the night outside still deep.
Declan was still asleep, and she carefully got up from his arms.
Gazing at the handsome sleeping face, Tanya’s eyes softened, and she kissed his eyelid, whispering, "Wait for me to come back."
She’s not good at farewells, and the more solemn they are, the heavier the burden.
Tanya told herself this was merely an ordinary business trip, and she’d be quickly back.
When she came back, she’d bring the medicine that would heal Declan!
Tanya gave one last glance at Declan, then tiptoed out of Phoenix Court.
The door clicked shut, and simultaneously, Declan opened his eyes on the sofa.
He walked to the window corner, silently watching Tanya’s figure grow distant, get into the car, and leave. 𝕗𝐫𝐞𝕖𝕨𝐞𝗯𝚗𝕠𝘃𝐞𝚕.𝐜𝗼𝚖
Suddenly, warmth and stickiness flooded his nose; Declan raised a hand to wipe, smearing more blood across the back of his hand.
His world spun brutally, an unbearable dizziness; Declan finally couldn’t resist, falling to his knees with a heavy thud.
It should’ve hurt, but he couldn’t feel it anymore.
He’d long been accustomed to the companionship of pain, lying on his back on the floor, staring at the high curved ceiling, yet seeing Tanya’s silhouette.
Her smiling face, her coquettish moments, all those moments that belonged solely to him...
Declan chuckled softly and murmured, "I’ve profited."
In this life, he had gained enough.
His body began to hurt intensely, like countless barbed needles piercing and stirring his flesh.
Cold sweat broke out on his forehead; he braced himself on the floor, turning to vomit blood.
’Bam—’
With a loud crash, the door burst open.
Janne Hayes, Dr. Wells, and Wynn Winslow rushed in.
Janne and Dr. Wells darted forward, while Wynn Winslow, struck by the scene, felt a chilling numbness all over.
She walked over stiffly, only seeing Declan’s face and body covered in blood.
This was not the Declan she knew, completely another person!
Dr. Wells quickly examined Declan, frowning deeply, "He’s insane! I warned him the medication needs measured doses, no more than triple the amount..."
Janne’s face was equally grim, lips slightly white, "Dr. Wells, President Pierce’s condition is more severe than you think. Three times the dose isn’t enough to relieve the pain. He needs to maintain normalcy to finish the remaining work..."
Dr. Wells took a deep breath, grabbing a vial of medication, injecting it directly through the vein in Declan’s neck.
He said sternly, "Get him to the hospital first. Once his vital signs stabilize, operate immediately!"
