Young Master Vance Has An Enchanting Wife!-Chapter 405: Setting a Deadline with You
Heather Holt helped May Morgan wipe her tears and looked up at Victor Grant, and the people in the dressing room. "You all go out first; I have something to say to May."
Victor Grant hesitated, glancing at his mother, reluctant to leave. He was afraid May would tell his mother she didn’t want to get married, afraid this wedding might fall through.
"Victor, you go out first. I’ll help you persuade May," Heather seemed to understand her son’s concerns, and quickly gave him a reassuring smile as she spoke.
Victor Grant moved his lips, glanced down at May Morgan, and finally sighed helplessly, turning to stand guard at the door of the dressing room.
After sending Victor Grant and the others out, Heather Holt came up to May Morgan, seriously looking at her clearly swollen eyes from crying, and softly asked, "May, tell me the truth. Are you still unwilling to marry Victor?"
May Morgan looked up at Heather Holt’s kind face but couldn’t say a word. She indeed didn’t want to marry Victor, but facing Heather, she couldn’t say anything.
The elderly woman had treated her so well, and May knew it clearly in her heart. That’s why she must go through with this marriage, even if reluctantly.
"Auntie, no, no, you’re overthinking."
May pondered, knowing Victor’s temperament; even those closest to him couldn’t persuade him. What difference would it make if she told Heather? The wedding was about to happen, and saying anything now would only create more tension without solving anything.
So she’d leave it at that. This was her fate, a path she had walked step by step to today.
If only she had been more calm back then, if she hadn’t acted on impulse and asked for Victor’s help, maybe things wouldn’t have turned out this way.
Heather extended her hand to wipe away another stray tear from May’s eye, speaking tenderly, "I know you’re feeling wronged; we all know what kind of person Victor is. In terms of ability, he indeed doesn’t compare to Vincent Vance, and he didn’t have a good reputation before, but I believe he truly likes you. Otherwise, he wouldn’t have knelt down for us for the sake of being with you. Remember, back when he deliberately dropped out of school to mix in society, even when his father had him bound and beaten, he refused to kneel..."
Saying this, Heather couldn’t help but tear up herself, gently wiping her eyes and sighing in frustration, "I can tell you don’t have much feeling for Victor; otherwise, you wouldn’t be like this with him all the time. Frankly, I’ve also tried to persuade him privately to give up on you, but can you guess what he said? He said unless he dies, he has set his heart on you for this lifetime. May, I’m not trying to persuade you to accept Victor, but given today’s circumstances with so many of our relatives here, if you don’t attend as the bride, it would be a blow not just to our family pride, but even more so to Victor."
Heather’s heartfelt words moved May somewhat, softening her stance. "Auntie, I understand. I never said I wanted to call off the wedding, honestly."
Hearing this, Heather looked seriously at May’s face, promising her, "Child, even if for my sake, please complete the wedding today. If you’re truly unwilling to marry Victor, after the wedding, I will find a way to help you get a divorce. Does that sound good?"
For Heather to say such words shocked May. She was already compromising this much for her; what more could May say? What could she do?
With a slight sigh of resignation in her heart, May gently smiled and then stood from her chair, "Auntie, I’ll listen to you. I never intended to call off the wedding, and I’ll do as you say. I’ll go out now."
"That’s a good child. Rest assured, after the wedding, if you don’t want it, I can promise Victor won’t touch you."
Heather happily stroked May’s face, smiling as she made this promise.
Finally persuading May, Heather quickly opened the dressing room door, signaling Victor Grant to come in for a talk.
Once Victor Grant was inside, Heather looked seriously at him, asking him to promise May, "Victor, you should know what May thinks. You understand that forcing things is never sweet!"
Hearing his mother speak like this, Victor Grant thought she was about to help May back out of the wedding, instantly anxious to speak, but Heather stopped him, saying, "Don’t rush. I’ve already talked to May. Our family’s reputation is too big to lose. With the wedding about to start, if the bride doesn’t attend, our family’s reputation will be gone. Just now, May promised me she’d smoothly go through the whole process and complete the wedding with you, but..."
At this point, Heather gave Victor Grant a cautious look and advised him carefully, "However, I’ve also promised her that if, after the wedding, she is unwilling, you cannot force her. Moreover, I’m giving you half a year to consider. After half a year, if May still cannot love you, you must let go. How does that sound?"
Victor Grant’s eyes showed discontent as he glanced at his mother, speaking softly, "Half a year is too short, I..."
"What are you afraid of? Afraid you can’t win May’s heart? I heard that May and Vincent Vance were married for only three months before they divorced. So why does she keep thinking of Vincent? Have you thought about this?"
Heather looked deeply at Victor Grant’s face and advised him seriously, "You know forcing things isn’t sweet. If you keep being domineering and tyrannical, wanting her to stay by your side, she’ll only drift further away. Why does May like Vincent? And how does Vincent treat her? Once you understand this, maybe she won’t leave."
These words finally made Victor Grant lower his head silently, saying nothing. He also knew he sometimes acted too excessively but couldn’t control himself because he loved this woman too much, almost crazily, uncontrollably.
"I know; I’ll try to change," Victor Grant quietly promised his mother to keep May steady.
Heather glanced at her son, seeing no sign of comprehension and realizing his obsession and infatuation with May only grew, worrying her.
"I’ve said all I can and shouldn’t say too much else. We’ll go with my plan for now. May, what I promised, I will fulfill, and what you promised to me, I hope you’ll do. Can you?"
May looked at Heather Holt, then at Victor Grant before lowering her lashes and telling him, "Victor Grant, I still say, as long as you don’t touch Vincent Vance, we can resolve anything peacefully."
Vincent Vance, Vincent again!
