Chapter 1644: Chapter 1641: No One Leaves

Xiao Manxuan stood at the base of the cliff, looking up at Lin Tian, listening to the calls and echoes around her. The familiar figure looked small from afar, but it gave her a feeling of being towering and imposing.

Lin Tian suddenly stopped, startling Xiao Manxuan. Then she noticed Lin Tian was staring at the 500-meter-high cliff. She instinctively looked over. There were rocks, tenacious trees, and resilient wild grass on the cliff, but nothing else she could see clearly from such a distance.

A bird, Lin Tian saw a bird fly down from the top of the cliff. The bird’s feathers were jet-black, claws jet-black, and it landed on a tree halfway up the cliff.

To others, the bird was invisible against the cliff. But Lin Tian’s vision was so extraordinary that he not only saw it but also observed every detail clearly.

A bird appearing on the cliff was nothing unusual, but when Lin Tian’s gaze swept over the bird’s eyes, he suddenly felt a strange sensation that the bird was also watching him.

A flash of insight suddenly crossed his mind; Lin Tian remembered the mice that died under the Sword Spirit Sword, and an unshakable thought emerged in his mind: "He’s here!"

The Secret Master had arrived. Once this notion appeared, it couldn’t be erased, and Lin Tian knew this was his zombie intuition, or rather a sixth sense, an instinct for unknown danger.

Earlier, Lin Tian had been worried that the Secret Master wouldn’t find their location, but they had only been traveling for half a day, and the Secret Master had already found them, or perhaps he’d been tracking them with methods Lin Tian couldn’t detect.

"Lin Tian, what are you doing? Hurry down; Zhao Weitao is almost at the top!" Xiao Manxuan’s voice floated up from below, interrupting Lin Tian’s thoughts.

Lin Tian looked down, and indeed, Zhao Weitao had reached the edge of the last rock. This wealthy second-generation was gripping a protruding rock, using his arms to flip himself up to the top.

Gasping slightly, Zhao Weitao stood opposite Lin Tian. Although he was more disheveled than Lin Tian, his gaze carried the confidence of victory.

"I’ve been waiting for you for a long time." Lin Tian didn’t care what Zhao Weitao thought and simply smiled faintly.

"If you had come down earlier, you might have had a chance to beat me, but now, you have no chance. If you want, I can provide you with a phone to record a video, so you won’t be embarrassed in front of classmates later." Zhao Weitao also smiled, full of confidence.

Lin Tian glanced at his equipment and smiled, "Is your reliance just a descender and rope?"

"If you’ve climbed a cliff, you should understand how difficult it is to descend, though you seem not to understand." Zhao Weitao spoke in an instructive tone, showcasing his extensive climbing experience.

Lin Tian didn’t refute or explain but simply said, "You go first, as the rules state, whoever returns first wins."

"Keep bluffing, let’s see how you wrap it up later when your video spreads across campus, let’s see if you still have the face to be with Xiao Manxuan." Zhao Weitao sneered.

He bent down, plucked a tuft of wild grass from the cliff top, stuffed it into his pocket, secured a thick rope to a large rock, clipped his descender onto the main rope, and began to rappel down the cliff.

Lin Tian surveyed the area, picked a blade of wild grass, glanced once more at the opposite cliff, and began his descent. With the help of the descender and rope, Zhao Weitao descended even faster than he had climbed. Lin Tian, still barehanded, wasted no time, descending the rocks quickly, as if climbing down a ladder on flat ground.

As he passed Zhao Weitao, it startled Zhao Weitao: "Impossible..."

He wanted to say it was impossible to descend the cliff so easily and quickly barehanded, but before he could, Lin Tian had already passed him.

Lin Tian quickly returned to the ground, where Xiao Manxuan cheered, jumping in front of him. If it weren’t for the surrounding people, the little girl might have jumped into Lin Tian’s arms.

With a light swipe on the little girl’s smooth cheek, Lin Tian casually smiled and said, "How was that, didn’t disappoint you, right?"

Xiao Manxuan nodded vigorously, a brilliant smile on her face. She suddenly recalled their first meeting, when she tested Lin Tian. In the horse-riding contest, Lin Tian miraculously won, with his two legs outrunning a horse’s four.

Now she realized Lin Tian had unfathomable hidden strength.

"For you." Lin Tian took out the tuft of wild grass from his pocket and handed it to Xiao Manxuan.

This blade of wild grass was quite unique, with thicker leaves and a deeper green than other grass, with a light fragrance. Maybe it was a wild herb.

"It smells so nice." Xiao Manxuan took the herb, sniffed it, and exclaimed, then carefully put it away, as if she were storing a priceless gift.

The other girls looked at Xiao Manxuan, eyes filled with envy. Girls are most romantic at heart, and although it was just a blade of wild grass, it was something Lin Tian specially picked from the cliff top. Even if it were just a token of the competition, they thought it held special meaning.

Liu Yuansi, however, looked sour because Lin Tian was the first to return and brought back the plant from the cliff top, while his Brother Zhao was still on the cliff.

After more than ten minutes, Zhao Weitao finally returned, but his face was worse than Liu Yuansi’s, and the two celebrity offspring fell silent.

The ones who had been the loudest before were now the most embarrassed, not even daring to meet Lin Tian’s gaze.

"Brother Zhao, let’s go." Liu Yuansi deliberately avoided mentioning the result of the competition and began dismantling Zhao Weitao’s equipment, ready to return to the campsite.

"Hold on," Mu Binglan called to the four of them, the tough girl sneered, "Weren’t you being all arrogant before the competition, acting like you owned the place? Now you lose the bet and want to run?"

"Our esteemed Brother Zhao would never renege on a bet!" Liu Yuansi retorted defiantly, neck stiff.

He said this with bravado, but only he knew the bitterness inside. Regarding this competition, he had incited the whole thing. Who could have imagined losing so completely, that it left them without an excuse?

It was a hand-climbing event, after all, and Lin Tian won against Zhao Weitao. What more could he say? He just couldn’t understand how Lin Tian did it.

Lin Tian snapped his fingers, not even glancing at Zhao Weitao, but his tone left no room for refusal, "Zhao Weitao, have you ever heard of someone not settling a bet face-to-face?"

"Must you be so aggressive?" Zhao Weitao’s face was expressionless, hinting he might not comply.

"Are you serious, talking about aggression? Since yesterday, you’ve been provoking me, forcing me to compete with you. I complied. If you don’t settle the bet today, no one leaves."

As he spoke the last words, Lin Tian’s eyes flashed coldly, a dangerous aura emanating from him. Except for Xiao Manxuan, this sense of danger made everyone shiver, as if a chilling presence swept over them.
