Chapter 578: 578: True Immortality

In a location that was far away from Blackwind Valley, two demons sat on top of the corpse of a massive elephant-like demonic beast.

The elephant-like demonic beast had eight legs and four massive trunks, but one of its trunks was currently in the eye of the demonic beast.

One of the demons had violet eyes and short black hair, while the other also had black hair but emerald eyes with a tinge of red at the center.

Beside the demon with emerald eyes was an emerald mask with thorns on it, and beside the demon violet eyes was a mask with the face of a bored clown.

These two demons were Korth and Caesar.

Both of them were looking in the direction of the Blackwind Valley, or... what remained of it.

Korth had an indifferent expression, and Caesar’s expression was more of boredom than indifference.

And in Caesar’s hand was an artifact that looked like a pair of binoculars.

There was silence between the two brothers for a moment, then Korth spoke.

"He survived."

Caesar nodded slightly.

"Yeah... unfortunately."

Caesar then released a soft sigh of disappointment.

"Who knew that he would have such a trump card. My instincts were right as usual."

Korth glanced at Caesar, then he looked back in the direction of Blackwind Valley.

Although they were very far away and they could not see everything clearly, it was clear as day that the destruction in the valley was immense.

"Sorry I doubted you, brother. I thought you had gone soft or I thought you had grown to like him, that’s why I was confused as to why you had not killed him after everything he had done."

Caesar’s lips curled up slightly.

"No need to apologize. It’s understand, but I had to be careful. Even though Blackmoon is weak, my instincts were constantly warning me about him."

The smile on Caesar’s lips slowly disappeared.

"Who knew that Blackmoon had a trump card that could allow him to battle Demon Kings. We’ll have to be careful when we want to kill him... We have to know more about the being that’s inside Blackmoon."

Korth slowly nodded, then he looked at the massive head of the corpse they were seating.

"I believe that if we want to kill him, it’s better we find a ways to do it earlier. His body could clearly not handle that power, and he could not even move without the help of his friends."

"If we give him too much time to grow, he’ll be able to use the power of that being whenever he wants, and he might even be able to use it for a longer period of time and the aftereffects would not be so severe anymore."

Caesar nodded slightly.

"You’re right, but unfortunately, he escaped through space. We don’t know where he is, and I do not plan on wasting my time and energy to search for him just because I’m wary of him."

Korth looked at Caesar, and he did not remove his gaze even after ten seconds passed, causing Caesar to speak without turning his head.

"Is there a problem?"

Korth shook his head.

"No, but you should be honest. You enjoy having Blackmoon around. He alleviates your boredom a little bit, and deep down, you don’t want your source of entertainment to die so easily."

"This is one of the reasons, no, most likely the main reason why you’ve not killed him even after so long..."

Korth shifted his gaze back to the Blackwind Valley.

"... It’s also the reason I didn’t do much when I was doubting you."

"One of your titles is the Bored One, but ever since your feud with Blackmoon started, you’ve been more expressive and you speak more."

"The brother I’m used to, does not speak as much as this. I might say a thousand words, and you’ll only give me a nod or a word as a response."

"... That is the brother I know and I’m used to."

Caesar did not respond for a few seconds, then he glanced at Korth from the corner of his eyes.

"And do you have a problem with me talking so much? Are you jealous?"

Korth’s lips could not help but curl up into a light smile.

"Jealous? Why would I be jealous that the person that’s making you talk so much is the person you want to kill? I’m not jealous at all."

Korth shook his head, and Caesar slightly nodded his head in response.

Afterward, there was silence between them for several minutes, and the only thing that could be heard was the sound of the wind.

Eventually, Caesar broke the silence.

"Whenever I meet Blackmoon, I should appreciate him. If not for him, I doubt we would have been able to escape before the Truth Seeker noticed us."

Korth rested his head on a fist and released a soft sigh.

"I agree. That was close... But I wonder why she came back to the Shadowgrave Clan. I doubt it’s just to find us."

Caesar’s head turned slightly, and though he could not see it, his line of sight was exactly in the direction of the withered tree.

"You’re right, I doubt she came back to find us. The coincidence is off. She wouldn’t leave what she was doing for something as trivial as finding us."

Korth placed a hand over his mouth and yawned softly.

"The only thing I can think of that would make her come here is if it has to do with finding the truth she’s looking for."

At Korth’s words, Caesar smiled.

"You’re right, brother. The only thing that can make her move is something that’s related to the truth she’s looking for."

Korth looked at Caesar with a raised brow.

"Wait. Don’t tell me that Blackmoon has something to do with the truth. That can’t be it, right? He’s a freaking nobody."

To Korth’s surprise, Caesar’s smile widened the more and his brother shrugged.

"Are you sure he’s a nobody? Can a nobody possess a power that can defeat Demon Kings? And can a nobody possess a body that can contain that power for that long without dying."

Korth frowned.

"The reason he didn’t die is because the Fleshwood’s heart resin."

At the mention of the Fleshwood’s heart resin, Caesar’s left eye twitched.

He slowly got to his feet, then he released a sigh.

"My mood has been ruined because you reminded me of that. No matter, it’s a minor setback. It still does not affect my goal of attaining True Immortality."

Caesar looked at his right hand which had the grave mark, then a dagger appeared in his hand and he cut it off.

He threw the dagger at Korth who caught it midair and also cut off his right hand.

Neither of them flinched or made a sound of pain from cutting their hands.

A few seconds later, a new hand made out of flesh and blood began to grow, and in less than a minute, they obtained a new hand.

Caesar looked at Korth.

"Let’s go. We have a lot to do to attain True Immortality."
