When the Serial Killer Next Door Gained Harem System - Chapter 43: Passive Activated
I walked in without saying anything and took the closest empty seat, which was the second desk from the wall on the left side.
As I sat down, I let out a quiet breath.
"Not awkward at all..." I muttered. "Not at all..."
"Have you heard what happened in Nwahi?" a student asked her friend. "Two elves were hanged near it. Nwahi is just a school for kids. They shouldn’t be seeing things like that."
"It was five blocks away," her friend replied. "I doubt any of the kids actually saw it."
The door opened before the conversation could go any further.
A woman stepped inside, and the room quieted almost immediately.
She looked to be in her mid-thirties, with long silver hair that fell neatly down her back. A pair of large, thin-framed glasses rested on her nose, giving her a sharp, composed look. She wore a formal academy uniform that fit her tall frame well, the dark fabric contrasting with her pale features. Her posture was straight, her movements precise, and there was something about the way she carried herself that demanded attention without her needing to say a word.
She walked to the front of the class, set a small stack of papers on the desk, and turned to face us.
"Good morning," she said calmly. "Please take your seats and keep the noise to a minimum."
The remaining whispers died down quickly.
"My name is Elira Vance," she continued. "I will be your Divinology of the Nine instructor."
She paused briefly, scanning the room.
"I can already see a few unfamiliar faces," she added. "If you joined the academy today, please stand."
I hesitated for a second, then pushed my chair back and stood up. Two other boys stood as well, one near the front and another by the window.
She nodded and turned her attention to the first student.
"Name and surname," she said. "And which god has blessed you."
The boy swallowed. "Rian Holt, ma’am. I was blessed by Myrrakai."
She gave a small nod and shifted her gaze to the second student.
"And you?"
"Derek Morn, ma’am," he replied. "Blessed by Solvane."
Another nod.
Then her eyes settled on me.
"And you?"
I straightened slightly. "I, um..." I cleared my throat. "Ace Walker, ma’am. I was blessed by... Ambly."
For a moment, nothing happened.
Then the room reacted.
A wave of murmurs spread almost instantly, students turning toward each other, whispering under their breath. Even the teacher’s composed expression shifted, just slightly, as if she had not expected that answer.
"Are you telling the truth, Ace Walker?" Mrs. Vance asked, her gaze fixed on me.
"Y-yes, of course," I said, nodding quickly.
She studied me for a brief moment, then gave a slow nod.
"I will speak with Professor Kroua regarding this," she said. "You may sit down."
"R-right..."
I lowered myself back into my seat, fully aware that every eye in the room had been on me.

"That’s it for today," Mrs. Vance announced. "Your next class will start in ten minutes. Don’t be late."
She gathered the papers from her desk in one smooth motion and straightened up. With a calm movement, she adjusted her glasses and stepped away from the desk, her heels making soft sounds against the stone floor as she walked toward the door.
Just as she reached it, she stopped and glanced back.
"Mr. Walker," she said. "I’ll be waiting for you outside. In the courtyard."
I nodded. "Yes, ma’am."
She gave a small, acknowledging look and then stepped out of the classroom.
The lesson had been... interesting, to say the least. I had learned a lot, more than I expected. The nine gods they talked about were not just names; they had history, conflict, and something deeper behind them.
Apparently, there had once been only one god. Him. ’The’ God. But then the kingdom was struck by a plague, and people began dying in large numbers. The God’s nine children pleaded with Him to intervene and save the kingdom, but He refused to act.
Eventually, one of them, Solvane, the God of Light, discovered the truth. The suffering was not random. The God Himself was the cause, draining the lives of His people and adding their souls to his own essence to prolong His existence.
That was when everything changed.
The nine gods rebelled against Him, and somehow, they won.
Mrs. Vance had not gone into much detail about what happened to Ambly during that time. She only mentioned it briefly before moving on, likely because it would have been too much to cover in a single lesson.
"Man," a student said as he walked up beside my desk, pulling me out of my thoughts. "Are you really Ambly-blessed?"
I exhaled. "Yeah."
"Awesome," he said with a grin. "What’s it like?"
"Normal," I replied. "What do you mean?"
"Ambly... Goddess of Lust," he said, lowering his voice slightly. "Can you, like... make girls lose it just by touching them? Making them... climax?"
I stared at him. "What? No. Of course not. Where did you even get that from?"
He shrugged, looking a little disappointed. "I don’t know. I just thought you could."
"Nope," I said. "Can’t."
Someone called him from outside the classroom.
He glanced toward the door, then back at me, giving a small nod before heading out.
I shook my head under my breath and stood up as well. Then I made my way toward the door and stepped out into the hallway.
Students were already moving around, some heading to their next classes, others lingering and talking. I followed the flow toward the main entrance and pushed the door open. 𝚏𝕣𝐞𝗲𝐰𝕖𝐛𝐧𝕠𝕧𝚎𝚕.𝐜𝚘𝗺
The courtyard was filled with students. Some were sitting on benches, others standing in small groups, talking or checking their notes. The noise of conversation filled the open space, mixing with footsteps and distant voices.
Near the railing that overlooked part of the academy grounds, Mrs. Vance stood waiting.
I spotted her immediately and started walking in her direction.
"Mrs. Vance," I greeted. "Sorry I was late."
"It’s fine." She crossed her arms. "I wanted to talk to you about Ambly."
"Y-yes?"
"Your glove," she began. "Is that the mark of hers?"
I nodded. "That’s what Professor Kroua told me, ma’am."
"Are you telling the truth?" she asked, narrowing her eyes. "Or just trying to be the center of attention?"
"I..."
She stepped closer and pressed a finger to my forehead, staring dead into my eyes. I stood there, suddenly nervous. I should’ve just lied about which god had blessed me. But since I didn’t have a ring, I figured she wouldn’t buy it anyway.
"Tell me the truth."
Her voice came out distorted, echoing like it was coming from multiple directions at once. Was she using some kind of spell?
