100XMultiplier System: My Essence is Glitched as an Ultimate Cheat-Chapter 77: Ch : The Servent of God - Part 1
The gate of the holy sanctuary awaited them and before Cane pushed it open, he saw that there was a warning on the gate.
Ai chose to read it aloud for the pair.
[Those who enter the great sanctuary are welcomed. But remember, patience is the key. If you wish to survive, do not get lazy.]
"What a weird warning. I wonder...is it as straightforward as it seems?"
Ai asked as she pushed the door open and Cane followed behind her silently. He had a feeling that this warning was more like an advice to those who entered the holy sanctuary.
The walls of the holy sanctuary seemed to be caving in around the pair. The deeper they walked, the more suffocating and hostile the space around them got.
A faint scraping sound echoed behind them, as if something had just dragged across the floor. Ai instantly turned, but the corridor lay still, untouched.
There was no way this was normal by any means.
"Cane, are you feeling alright? Don’t hesitate to tell me if you start to feel sick."
Ai sounded hesitant and cautious as she asked Cane to be vigilant. Her eyes continued to look around in search of any danger. And Cane was just as vigilant as she was as he moved through the halls.
The torches lining the walls flickered all at once, plunging them into near darkness for a heartbeat before stabilizing again. Cane’s pulse jumped in his throat.
But unlike Ai, he also had a system that was hard at work.
[Scanning surroundings for any dangers/Traps. User is advised to maintain a state of caution.]
[Warning: Traps have been found. Traps will now be marked on the map.]
The system quickly marked the traps on the map and there were so many that it would be a miracle to make it to the other side without triggering any of them.
"Ai, wait—!"
Cane grabbed Ai’s arm to pull her back before she could trigger the trap and heat travelled up his arm where he had grabbed Ai. He immediately let go of Ai, almost as if he had been shocked when he pulled her back.
The floor tile ahead of Ai cracked open with a soft click, revealing a chasm filled with rotating blade-like lights.
If she had taken one more step, the trap would have taken her legs clean off.
Ai looked startled as well and a pink flush covered her cheeks as she refused to look at Cane. Instead, she paid attention to her surroundings and forced herself to calm down.
"Did you...find a trap?"
Ai asked, and Cane nodded. He got his own flush under control before he looked around the trap-filled walls.
"This way must be a trap for people to fall for. There must be another way for us to go inside. Let’s continue to look for that instead."
Cane told Ai. He was not sure if this was all part of the quest or if he had made a mistake somewhere. But Ai nodded and they decided to take a detour.
As they turned down the side path, Cane felt something tug lightly on the back of his shirt. He spun around, but nothing was there—only shadows stretching far too long for the dim light.
The longer way did not have half the traps, and Cane suddenly recalled the warning he had read on the front door.
He had actually thought that it might have a philosophical meaning, like most other advice did. But this time, the advice had been literal and needed no explanation.
Cane simply walked toward the end chamber on the new route and reached the garden in no time. The light from the garden felt soft and inviting.
The final door opened and a beautiful man dressed in white welcomed them. The man had a clean appearance, an androgynous face, and long hair framing his soft features.
"Brave warriors, you managed to make your way here? In that case, it is my pleasure to welcome you to my paradise. Please, come inside."
The man welcomed the pair in, his arms open as if he was accepting them into the paradise. Cane almost stepped forward, taken in by the charms of that man’s power when the system issued him a warning.
[Warning: User level too low to reject the charm effect.]
’Ah—! So this is some kind of magic? How do I go against this...’
Cane wondered as his body took a step forward toward the other man. But as soon as he reached Ai’s side, she grabbed his wrist and gave the white-haired man in front of them a glare.
The air around them vibrated faintly as the charm tried to force its way into Cane’s mind again, like a warm hand pushing at the back of his skull. Ai’s grip tightened, grounding him.
The servant of god noticed that his magic was not working on Ai, and he tried to increase his intensity. But Ai was too high-leveled for him to be able to seduce her the same way he seduced the others.
"Save your pleasantries. We are here to ask you to assist us in hatching these balls. Do you know how to do that or not?"
Ai asked as she brought out one of the balls Cane had on him. He had handed it to Ai just to keep safe.
In case they were attacked and killed, Cane did not want to drop these balls and Ai was too high-leveled to die.
The servant of god looked taken aback by Ai’s words and he looked at what she held in her arms. For a second, his eyes widened before he gave her a serious look.
The temperature in the room dropped abruptly, as if the garden behind them had exhaled frost instead of air.
"Where did you find this from? No, never mind. That is not important. For now, please come inside and we can discuss what that item is. I will also turn off my charm for you."
The man told Cane and Ai before his power disappeared from around the pair and they were allowed to enter the sanctuary’s inner part.
