A Heaven-sent Sweet Child Falls Asking for Hugs-Chapter 86: Please, Just One Look
Drexel hadn’t expected Kaelan Knight to personally intervene to protect Jasper Ford. Seeing Kaelan’s respectful demeanor toward Jasper, he thought to himself that this must be a formidable figure. Although he was still choking on his anger, he didn’t dare to press the matter any further, taking the check and leaving with his men.
Hayden Kaye was put in a private room, completely drunk. This was the third time Jasper Ford had seen him in this state, and he was very displeased!
"What are you causing a scene about now?" Jasper Ford demanded coldly.
Hayden Kaye turned his face away. "It’s none of your business."
"Is it because of Vivian Quincy?" Jasper Ford said her name.
Hayden Kaye grabbed a beer bottle from the table and furiously smashed it against the wall. CRASH! The bottle shattered, and the shards fell messily to the floor with a crisp clatter. He let out a foolish laugh, then his gaze turned vicious. He viciously stomped on the glass shards on the ground several times!
"Why? Why? Why!" he asked three times in a row, his eyes red. He let out a choked laugh.
He was completely unhinged.
Jasper Ford watched all this with cold indifference. "She’s not right for you," he said.
"Then who is she right for? That bastard King!" Hayden Kaye shot back fiercely!
He had planned to go see Vivian Quincy today, but just as he got near her company, he saw her get into Jeremy King’s car. She would rather be with that married man than reconcile with him. Why?
Hayden Kaye was furious, driven mad with jealousy. He had wanted to rush over and beat Jeremy King to a pulp, but he held back. He knew it wouldn’t matter how many times he beat up Jeremy King; Vivian Quincy would still leave him. She had still chosen that man who was older and uglier than him.
Hayden Kaye was filled with hate. He hated Jeremy King enough to want to tear him limb from limb, but he hated Vivian Quincy even more—hated her for making him suffer so much!
Hayden Kaye didn’t want to be like this, but he was hopelessly in love with Vivian Quincy. He couldn’t let go, he really... couldn’t let go...
He broke down sobbing, like a helpless child, squatting on the floor. "Ninth Uncle, what should I do? What on earth am I supposed to do? I can’t forget her. I really can’t."
Jasper Ford said, "There’s no one you can’t forget. Find someone new, someone better. She’s not worth it."
"But I only love her. It has to be her. Why doesn’t she love me? She clearly loved me so much before. She even said she’d marry me after graduation." Hayden Kaye’s voice trembled, his mind filled with the things Vivian Quincy had said to him in the past.
A frightening coldness emanated from Jasper Ford’s sharp features. "She said she would marry you?"
"Yes." Hayden Kaye nodded emphatically. "But she’s forgotten all of that. She’s forgotten everything."
Jasper Ford grew irritated. He had lost his patience and had no desire to comfort Hayden Kaye. He turned, walked out of the private room, and said to Kaelan Knight, "Find two people to take him back to the Kaye Family."
The devilishly handsome man quirked his sexy red lips. "Jasper, your nephew isn’t in a good state. Is it really okay to just send him back like this? I think he might do something drastic at any moment."
"Tie him up and send him back to the Kaye Family," Jasper Ford repeated.
Kaelan Knight waved a hand to his subordinate and continued, "This kid’s been drinking nonstop since he walked into my bar, constantly muttering someone’s name. Who’s so charming they could make him this obsessed?"
"A shameless woman," Jasper Ford said, not bothering to hide the disgust in his eyes.
Kaelan Knight raised an eyebrow. "You know her? Is she pretty? She must be, or this kid wouldn’t be so smitten."
Jasper Ford: "Hideously ugly."
Kaelan Knight was surprised. "No way. Does your nephew have such... unique taste? Wait, Jasper, are you lying to me? How would you know she’s ugly? Don’t tell me you’ve been secretly checking her out? Since when did you pay so much attention to a woman? That’s not your style."
"Cut the crap," Jasper Ford snapped impatiently. He was clearly angry.
Kaelan Knight laughed as if he’d discovered a new world. "Hah! Getting defensive, are we? Don’t tell me you’ve taken a liking to that woman too."
Jasper Ford shot him a bone-chilling glare.
Kaelan Knight wisely shut his mouth and didn’t press the matter.
After Hayden Kaye was sent away, Jasper Ford also returned to his hotel. He felt no urge to sleep. An image of Vivian Quincy surfaced in his mind uncontrollably. ’Is that woman genuinely innocent, or is she just pretending to be?’ Jasper Ford realized he couldn’t quite figure her out.
Unable to sleep all night, Jasper Ford took out his laptop and reviewed some company documents. At three in the morning, he received a text message. He opened it and saw it was from Wanda Quincy.
"Jasper, I have a fever. Can you come see me?" A crying emoji was added at the end.
Jasper Ford tossed his phone aside without replying. He remembered that Wanda Quincy had a private doctor at home.
Sitting on her bed and clutching her phone, Wanda Quincy stared nervously at the screen, terrified she would miss a message from Jasper Ford. But after waiting for more than ten minutes, she still hadn’t received a reply.
’Shirley said she saw Jasper Ford at the bar just now. At this hour, he should have just gotten back to the hotel. It’s impossible he’s asleep already. Could it be that he’s ignoring me?’
Wanda Quincy mulled it over for a few seconds before she couldn’t resist sending another message: "There’s no one home. I feel like I’m about to die. Jasper, I’m begging you, please come see me, okay?"
Still no response.
Having no other choice, Wanda Quincy took an automatic thermometer out of her room, grabbed the house cat, and rubbed its hindquarters vigorously a few times before taking a temperature reading of 38.8 degrees. She took a photo and sent it to Jasper Ford.
"Jasper, please save me. I really, really want to see you. If you don’t come, I’m going to die." Wanda Quincy sent the message, but it still didn’t feel like enough. ’What else can I do to make Jasper Ford come see me...?’ she wondered.
Suddenly, a message came in: "If you’re sick, get treatment."
Wanda Quincy’s heart leaped with joy. ’He’s not asleep, just as I thought! It looks like my gamble paid off!’
Overjoyed, she quickly tapped out a line on her phone: "But I don’t have any medicine at home, and my mom’s away on vacation. I’m all alone, and I have no strength at all."
"You have a private doctor at home," Jasper Ford exposed her lie without hesitation.
Wanda Quincy’s face turned pale after seeing the message. She was furious. ’That damned doctor, ruining my plans! I’m definitely getting him fired tomorrow.’
After cursing inwardly a couple of times, Wanda Quincy replied to Jasper Ford: "The private doctor is on leave. I called him, but he won’t come over. Jasper, I’m dying. I’m begging you, please come see me. Just for a moment, okay?"
She pleaded, utterly desperate.
Jasper Ford was silent for a few minutes before finally replying: "Unlock your front gate."
Wanda Quincy’s heart leaped with joy. ’Unlock the gate? Doesn’t that mean Jasper Ford is coming to see me?’
"Okay!" she hastily replied with one word. Tossing her phone aside with a sense of triumph, she thought, ’I can’t let Jasper Ford see me looking so haggard.’ She went to her vanity, touched up her makeup, and pulled a sexy outfit she had long prepared from her closet. She put it on, patting her bare chest lightly with a delicate hand. She had to seize this rare opportunity...
