A Mate For The Last Lycan-Chapter 80: SOMETHING ABOUT THE LYCAN
Chapter 80: SOMETHING ABOUT THE LYCAN
It took an hour before Zuri finally stirred and opened her eyes groggily. And the first thing she saw was Khaos, who was staring at her with a teasing smile.
"Have a good sleep?" He raised his brows.
Zuri stretched her body and felt the pain. "My body in in pain," she grumbled.
"Expected." Khaos nodded in understanding. "We need to meet with your informant today, right? I will go with you."
"He doesn't like it when there is a stranger that come to his place."
Khaos stood up and kissed her forehead, which surprised Zuri with his gesture. He could be very sweet if he wanted to. "Let's see. There are not many people, who could resist my charm."
"You are being full of yourself," Zuri said with a chuckle. She liked it whenever Khaos was being playful like this.
Standing up, Zuri ignored the pain, her body was screaming and scolding her to not sleeping in that position again and she made a mental note to not do it again.
"Let's go."
Khaos didn't wait for her to adjust with the pain and walked toward the door. He wanted to get the information as soon as possible and out of instinct, Zuri followed him, but not before she caught a drawing on the table and she picked it up.
"Did you draw me?" Zuri stared at it. In there, she saw herself in sleeping position, looked uncomfortable, but peaceful at the same time.
Khaos turned around and saw what she was staring at. "Apparently yes, since you didn't have self awareness to your surroundings when you were sleeping."
"Why should I have a self awareness when I was sleeping?" Zuri folded the paper carefully and put it in her pocket. She would keep it with her.
"You need that, Zuri." Khaos crossed his arms, his expression turned serious. "Someone might kill you in your sleep if you put your guard down completely."
Zuri furrowed her brows when she heard that, but Khaos started to laugh and urge her to be quick.
They had their breakfast and after Zuri changed her dress, they went to the jewelry store, where Zuri would meet with the informant, but the owner of the jewelry looked at Khaos up and down, seemingly unhappy because she brought someone else with her, but he said nothing.
In the end, they went to a small room in the back of the store, where they had to go through a secret passageway.
Khaos looked around his surroundings, his expression was solemn, while Zuri stared ahead of her, because Xaden appeared and kept talking about degrading thing to her.
He was dead.
Zuri had to keep reminding herself about that. She was hallucinating, but he looked very real when he leaned his back against the wall and gave Zuri a lopsided smile filled with ridicule.
'Don't you want to know why he has never asked about your craziness? Do you think he care about you? He never asked, he never cared. He only wanted to use you. Well, it's not like you didn't know about it, right?'
'He is only with you because you are useful, but once you are useless, you will be thrown aside and no one will pick you up. Why would someone want a secondhand good?'
'Make sure you give him what he wanted, or else, you are nothing... not like you meant anything though...'
Thankfully, once they were in the room and Lucas met with them, Xaden's figure disappeared.
"What is he doing here?" Lucas nodded his head to Khaos. He knew the alpha and because the black market was a neutral ground, he didn't scare him, yet he still kept his guard up. There was something about this alpha that could make you cautious around him, especially when you were not really the people on his side. "Is he the one, who asked for the golden stamp information?" Lucas eyed Khaos suspiciously.
"Yes," Khaos admitted it. He had never known about this man before and whether or not the information that came from him was reliable.
Lucas was a young man, probably in his early twenty, he had this dirty blonde hair and green eyes, but he was not a shifter, Khaos knew about this much.
For a moment, there was silent that fell inside the room, as Liam didn't say anything and it was Zuri who spoke first. She put down a pouch filled with golden that she promised him.
"Here your money. What you've got?" Zuri asked straight to the point.
Liam looked back and forth between Zuri and Liam, but in the end, he sighed and moved to get his golden.
"The stamp is in Great Lunar kingdom," Liam said, he counted the golden coin, seemingly not trusting Zuri and wanting to make sure he was not deceived.
"How can you be so sure?" Zuri prodded. "I want the detail of it."
Khaos smiled when he saw Zuri didn't trust this man easily. He was going to ask for more detail if Zuri was going to believe this man easily, since she said she trusted him.
However, in this world, that was not how things worked. Trust could be bought.
"The golden stamp has gone missing for a decade before it made an appearance in of the auction houses in this black market, at that time, a merchant from the other continent had bought the golden stamp, his origin was unknown, people only knew he didn't come from this
continent.
But, two years ago, Great Lunar Kingdom married off one of the princesses and one of the dowries was the golden stamp. This information is not made for public, so you can see the importance of it and what kind of struggles that I have to go through to obtain it."
"And yet you get the information within two days?" Khaos pointed it out, which made Lucas stuttered.
"Well, actually... there is another rumor that resurface recently..."
"What is it?"
"Something about the lycan."
