Abandoned by the Alpha, I Became the Lycan King's Mate-Chapter 348 ’I had a dream
[Donald’s Perspective]
"Your Majesty... What do you think of my suggestion? If you have any thoughts, please tell me directly. I’m getting old and my mind doesn’t work as fast, so I ask for your and the other lords’ patience!"
Perhaps feeling the atmosphere in the room had become too stiff and awkward, Berton stumbled over his words and continued speaking.
I looked at the elderly werewolf, who spoke carefully and acted smoothly. After a while, I smiled helplessly, stood up while leaning on the table, and said with a sneer, "It’s not that you’re old and slow, but rather, you have too deep of schemes, and you’re trying to foist inappropriate ideas onto me!"
Berton immediately fell to his knees after I finished speaking, continuously claiming he didn’t dare do such.
The smile at the corner of my mouth disappeared, leaving only coldness in my eyes, "Stop using those tricks you play in the official circles on me. I hate being calculated and deceived the most. If you truly want to atone for your crimes, tell me directly how to get to Poison Snake Island instead of trying to gain advantage from me when you think you have the upper hand."
As I spoke, I gestured to the Lycan at my side to pull him up, and continued in a calm voice, "Perhaps we don’t meet often and you’re unaccustomed to my ways and methods. Then, please inform the others when you go back that I, Donald, am determined to cleanse the Lilo Sea."
"Whether it’s the Rebels of MSTER, the Spirit Dragon Pack of Levi, or the masterminds behind Poison Snake Island, they will not affect the Wolf royal family’s ultimate rule. Was I clear enough, Director Berton?"
Even though Lycan was supporting Berton, his body still shook slightly. Knowing I had achieved my goal for today, I gave him a cold look and, without turning back, snapped my fingers at Christian and walked out of the council hall.
My intention was very clear. Berton had to unconditionally disclose today how to enter Poison Snake Island, and Christian would be responsible for the specifics of the task.
No matter which power had abducted Licia, their ultimate goal would fall on either me or Margaret. Licia was an unstable bomb; I had to find her and bring her under my control as soon as possible.
As for the murky political environment of Lilo Sea, I would find an opportunity to slowly cleanse it; there was no need to rush.
This council meeting took nearly two hours. By the time I returned to Margaret’s hospital room, dawn had begun to break. A new day was about to start, and Margaret, alongside another new life about to arrive, gave me inexhaustible strength.
Once again, I felt my heart stuffed full with something, as if no problem or challenge was too great. There was no need for tension or worry.
Benjamin, who had watched over Eric all night, was sent by me to rest. My subordinates were the finest Lycans in the entire Werewolf Royal City, but I could not truly treat them like cold machines. Margaret taught me that every Lycan is a vibrant and lively being, deserving of care and affection.
In fact, I just couldn’t stand seeing the haunting dark circles under Benjamin’s eyes. I felt that looking at them too much would give me nightmares!
The vegetation at White Rose Manor was very lush, and if we hadn’t come here on serious business, it would have been an excellent place for a vacation.
This season, the roses were in full bloom everywhere, something I thought Margaret would love—if only she could open her eyes right now.
I held Margaret’s hand tightly to my face and said with a smile and a gentle voice, "The situation in Lilo Sea is a bit complicated, but the local scenery and culture are still beautiful. How about we consider this our honeymoon? There has been too much happening recently, I know you’re tired. I will protect you and the baby, do you believe me?"
"How can you sleep for so long? Could it be that Benjamin is a quack? He said you would wake up this morning."
The warm light in the room illuminated Margaret’s face. I watched her long lashes quiver slightly; then she slowly opened her beautiful eyes.
"Are you awake, my love? How are you feeling?" I asked urgently, sitting up straight to wait for Margaret’s reply.
"Hmm... Donald? What are you doing here, and where are we? What’s happened to me? I feel so weak and hungry!" Margaret spoke softly, her eyes squinting, her voice low and sticky, as if she was acting coquettishly.
I kissed her forehead gently and responded tenderly, "This is White Rose Manor. You suddenly fainted yesterday, and I carried you back. You’ve just been too tired these past few days. Rest well and eat well, and you’ll be fine. What would you like for breakfast? I’ll have Ruth make it for you."
Margaret slowly closed her eyes as she listened, and just when I thought she was going to fall asleep again, she suddenly murmured, "I had a dream, Donald. I dreamed of a little one calling out to me, saying her stomach hurt, telling me to be happy every day. Isn’t that strange?"
