Abandoned by the Alpha, I Became the Lycan King's Mate-Chapter 349 Careless?
[Margaret’s perspective]
The hospital room was very quiet, Donald didn’t answer my question aloud.
My head felt a little dizzy, my body extremely weak, and my stomach so hungry I could eat a whole cow. I opened my eyes somewhat discontentedly and looked at Donald, my gaze questioning him, "Why did you suddenly stop talking?"
But when I saw the smile on Donald’s handsome face clearly, the dissatisfaction in my eyes dissipated instantly, and curiosity and wonder began to fill my heart. "Did something happen? Why do you look so happy?"
As I spoke, I reached out and touched the corners of Donald’s upward-curving lips, then added, "Did you catch Henry and Levi? Or is there a breakthrough in Licia’s disappearance? What are you smiling about? You look so silly."
Donald’s happiness was contagious. With a mixture of helplessness and a smile, I looked at him, my heart soft and warm.
The young and handsome king wrapped my hand with his large one, his smile broadening. He kissed the palm of my hand and gazed at me tenderly, "Baby, I have some great news for you..."
"What great news?" I asked with a smile.
Donald’s beautiful eyes shone like the eternal stars in the night, "You’re pregnant, you’re going to be a mom! And I’m finally going to be a dad," he said.
I stared at him, not quite comprehending the meaning of his words for a moment. 𝚏𝕣𝐞𝗲𝐰𝕖𝐛𝐧𝕠𝕧𝚎𝚕.𝐜𝚘𝗺
Seeing me stunned, Donald leaned down and kissed my brow, and only after his hot breath landed on my face did I come to my senses slightly, "What? I’m pregnant?"
Donald simply nodded with a smile, the love and joy in his eyes almost drowning me.
I blinked and instinctively looked down at my belly, "You mean I have a baby? It’s ours? When? How come I don’t feel anything? She..."
My eyes suddenly welled up as I spoke, and my nose turned red in an instant. Turning to look at Donald, my voice trembled as I spoke, "Who told you? Was it Benjamin? When did he tell you?"
"Weren’t you the one who fainted on the rooftop yesterday? I was almost scared to death! After we returned to White Rose Manor, Benjamin checked your physical condition!"
Donald explained in a gentle voice, lifted his hand to wipe away the tears from the corner of my eye, kissed my eye and continued, "Don’t cry, baby. This is a wonderful thing; your tears are melting my heart. The baby is already 4 weeks along. You’ve been lacking energy recently; I thought you were just tired, but now it seems that was just a normal pregnancy reaction."
"We’ve both been so careless to only now discover the baby’s arrival. Do you think she might blame me?" Donald said, his brow slightly furrowed as if he truly worried that the embryo in my belly would blame him.
I burst into laughter through my tears, my eyes red yet smiling at him, I said warmly, "She’s still so small, how could she blame you? Stop making me laugh; I’m running out of strength."
Warm tears slid down from my eyes as I looked at Donald and said with a smile, "I’m hungry, Donald. I want a bowl of hot seafood porridge!"
Donald leaned down to kiss away the tears on my face and nodded, "Okay, just a moment, I’ll have Ruth bring it in! To prevent you from being hungry when you woke up, she has been keeping the pot of seafood porridge warm."
The feeling of being cared for is truly wonderful, especially when the person is your lifelong love.
I smiled contentedly and my other hand instinctively touched my belly, my gaze falling on the soft blanket. It was as if I could see my baby through everything, my heart beating wildly, suddenly filled with a new sense of purpose.
"By the way, why ’she’ and not ’he’? Do you hope it’s a girl?" Donald asked tenderly after putting down the phone.
At his words, I shook my head, tilted my face up to meet Donald’s, my expression somewhat dazed, "I don’t know, it just instinctively felt like ’she’."
I laughed, my smile waxing, and continued, "I just referred to her as ’she’, right? In my dream last night, it was she who was calling me, telling me to be happier! So that’s it; she seems to be a very considerate baby."
Content with the conclusion I’d reached, the smile on my face deepened; I felt like the happiest person in the world at that moment!
"I think so too; she will be as smart and beautiful as you, a cute and lively little girl," Donald said, agreeing with me as if he would pluck the stars from the sky without a second thought if I desired them.
I thought this Lycan king seemed a bit overwhelmed by passion; smiling helplessly, I reached out and took his hand, "It’s only been 4 weeks, and we’re already discussing it so animatedly. Isn’t that a bit silly? But Elizabeth would surely be ecstatic to hear the news, wouldn’t she?"
I didn’t know which of my words sparked Donald; his smile faded slightly, and after a long pause, he finally made a suggestion.
