Abandoned by the Alpha, I Became the Lycan King's Mate-Chapter 353 Pregnancy Precautions
[Margaret’s Perspective]
Stealing moments of leisure amid busyness had become a norm in Donald’s daily work. After having lunch with me, he took Elliot and Christian into the council chamber.
I was curious about his plans for the rest of the day, but I also knew very well that what I needed to do the most right now was to take good care of my health.
Reining in my wandering thoughts, I turned my attention back to the Medical Practitioner who had been standing by my bed, chattering away.
"Since it’s your first pregnancy, Your Majesty, there are certain things you must be careful about. For instance, I hope you won’t encounter what happened yesterday again! Of course, I will list the special precautions and report them to His Majesty, who will then supervise you," he said.
When Benjamin mentioned yesterday’s incident, there was a noticeable seriousness in his face. Both Ruth and I felt his aura was intimidating, and we subconsciously didn’t dare to say much.
It seems that Medical Practitioners around the world act the same when faced with patients who don’t listen—both troubled and helpless.
I was half a Medical Practitioner myself, so I could understand Benjamin’s feelings. Clutching the cup in my hand, I remained silent as the hospital room turned quiet for a moment.
Benjamin seemed pleased with my patient attitude, nodding before continuing, "I have specifically tailored this for Your Highness—a diet and exercise plan for the first three months of pregnancy. You can keep it as a reference. Also, I heard from Ruth that you had dizziness and nausea a few days ago. These symptoms are normal pregnancy reactions, and you needn’t worry."
"Moreover, Your Highness, I know your mother was an excellent midwife before, and when we complete our tasks and return to the Royal City, you can have her take care of you personally. I’ve read in books that a pregnant she-wolf greatly needs the companionship of close relatives to alleviate the anxiety and unease during pregnancy. Of course, His Majesty’s company is indispensable too," he added.
Benjamin, at that moment, was like a nagging old man. Knowing he cared for me genuinely as a friend and as a Medical Practitioner, I didn’t blame him for being unaware of my strained relations with Nora.
Although his suggestion felt like salt on an open wound for me.
I curled the corners of my mouth and said with a light laugh while glancing sideways at Benjamin, "If it’s about the company of someone close, wouldn’t Elizabeth be a better option? She is always lively and lovely; staying with her should make things even happier."
Benjamin, not understanding the strained relationships I had at home but keen and intelligent, seemed to sense something. After pausing for two seconds, he nodded and said, "Of course, whatever you think is best, Your Highness."
"Alright, Benjamin, I know this is your first time taking care of a pregnant woman, but you don’t have to be so anxious. Since I’m a Medical Practitioner myself, I can take good care of myself. Besides, I have Donald and Ruth by my side; they will take good care of me," I reassured him.
After finishing, I handed the cup back to Ruth, stretched lazily, and turned my head toward the window. "The weather is lovely today. Could I ask Ruth to go out with me for a stroll? It’s so stuffy in here."
Benjamin naturally wouldn’t refuse my suggestion to go outside; he even encouraged me to breathe in some fresh air, saying it would be beneficial for my physical and mental health.
Although I wanted to reject the wheelchair, being watched closely by both of them, my simple desire to walk on my own was thwarted.
Ruth pushed me downstairs and into the estate’s garden.
The climate of Lilo Sea was perfect for roses to flourish, and this season was their prime blooming period. Seeing the many roses in full bloom throughout the garden made my mood exceptionally delightful!
Beautiful things have always been more likely to win people’s affection—it’s an eternal truth.
Leaning against the wheelchair, I squinted my eyes and enjoyed the sun’s caress, while Ruth spoke to me in a gentle voice nearby. This feeling was truly comfortable; it would have been better if nobody appeared to disturb this peace.
"Your Majesty the Lycan Queen? Do you remember me? I’m Brand! Let me go, I just want to talk to the Lycan Queen for a bit and then I’ll leave, I promise I won’t bother you again!"
From across a few winding and elegantly designed walkways, I straightened up slightly and looked toward the source of the voice.
The first thing I saw was Elliot standing to the side, instructing a Lycan to kick the boy out of the estate. Upon seeing me noticing them, he stopped what he was doing and walked straight toward me.
"My apologies, Your Majesty, I’ll throw that noisy brat out right away," Elliot said, nodding respectfully to me, his voice carrying a hint of apology.
I recognized the boy Elliot referred to as Brand and waved my hand, beckoning gently, "It’s okay, bring him over."
Although Elliot didn’t quite understand why I wanted to see the boy, he nodded and did as I asked. I looked up at him, signaling that he could leave.
