Abandoned by the Alpha, I Became the Lycan King's Mate-Chapter 352 ’Resurrected from the Dead
[Levi’s Perspective]
I listened to the werewolf’s words and understood the hidden meaning behind his tone.
Although I was annoyed by their commanding attitude, I was still willing to resolve some avoidable conflicts beforehand.
"Just to clarify, you can’t blame me entirely for today’s incident. I was also caught off guard by Donald’s move! The arrow I shot at Henry was solely to save him. Don’t go stirring things up in front of her and cause me trouble," I said.
After speaking, I nodded to the werewolf beside me, signaling him to use some of the rare medicinal herbs I kept on me for Henry, to ensure he wouldn’t die before we reached Poison Snake Island.
It seemed like he accepted my explanation. The werewolf in the cockpit withdrew his gaze from Henry, nodded, and stopped talking.
One hour later, we encountered a ship coming to pick us up on the sea near Poison Snake Island. Their ship looked ordinary at first glance, but if you observed carefully, you could see the signs of reinforced fortification.
The waters near Poison Snake Island were filled with countless hidden reefs and the weather was extremely unpredictable. Without this kind of specially made ship and an experienced sailor, it would be absolutely impossible to enter Poison Snake Island!
And this was exactly why the owner of the island was so arrogant.
Thinking about her effortless businesses over the surface of the Lilo Sea, I couldn’t help but be tempted, though the authorities had recently been monitoring too closely, and Gino was always an obstacle, leaving me truly lacking the energy to partner with her in this venture.
Although I didn’t make any money, at least I kept every member of our pack safe, which wasn’t a fruitless return. My uncle was right; only those who are truly cautious can survive to the end.
What I didn’t expect was that Henry woke up before we landed on the island. I attributed this to my precious medicine.
"They will find out about Poison Snake Island sooner or later, but before then, I want you to help me with one more thing," Henry said weakly as he lay on the simple wooden boat.
I sat down opposite him and looked him in the eye, "After today’s events, Donald won’t let any of my pack members go. I hope you remember all that you promised me earlier, instead of constantly asking me to do this and that!"
Silence spread between me and Henry and I frowned at him, not planning to compromise right away.
At that moment, Henry just looked at me without speaking. After a while, he gestured to Aiden, who seemed to understand and came forward, kneeling in front of Henry.
"Bring me the green potion tube from my briefcase," Henry whispered to Aiden.
At his words, I raised an eyebrow at Henry, ideas flickering through my mind.
As if he read my thoughts, Henry, after taking the syringe from Aiden’s hand, continued weakly, "I know what you’re thinking. I will fulfill my promises. I have always been generous with my allies, as you can see from what you’ve learned from Austin. You must have received his reply letter by now?"
As he talked, he injected himself with the medication, his actions expertly executed, obviously well-practiced.
I saw the eerily green medication disappear into his veins, and inexplicably, a chill rose in my heart, "Sometimes, I truly think you’re a monster."
"Oh? Is that a compliment for me?" Henry seemed to be in a good mood and responded lightly.
I looked into Henry’s eyes and suddenly chuckled, continuing, "To even think of such tactics as faking death to escape, of course, I’m complimenting you. Donald and his queen are not fools, and the Medical Practitioner under him seems very capable too. How did you make them believe Austin was dead?"
Curious about how Henry managed it, I asked him earnestly, "Aren’t you afraid they’ll find out Austin isn’t dead and then discover your secret?"
After the injection, Henry’s vitality visibly improved, and his wounds healed at a rate visible to the naked eye. He truly appeared to be using some kind of magic!
"Every magical medication has its drawbacks, every perfect plan has flaws. Of course, Austin wasn’t really dead at that time. It wasn’t that Benjamin and the other Medical Practitioners weren’t smart enough. On the contrary, they were too smart, which is why they fell into my trap," Henry explained as he turned to look toward the upper part of the ship, a smug expression on his face. "You wouldn’t understand all this medical talk, but what you need to understand is that I can achieve anything I set my mind to, including helping you achieve your dreams."
I admit I am not as smart as Henry, but I also know he’s good at bluffing. After a sneer, I didn’t pursue the matter further and said bluntly, "Tell me, and I’ll consider whether or not to help you."
"You will certainly help me because what I’m asking you to do involves Margaret, and you seem quite fond of her," Henry said confidently, and I narrowed my eyes at him, a dangerous look flashing through them.
