Abandoned by the Alpha, I Became the Lycan King's Mate-Chapter 356 siblings
[Margaret’s Perspective]
During this time, I was completely locked in the manor by Donald, whose protective desire for me had reached an unprecedented level. Although he claimed to others that I was still recovering from injuries, anyone who was attentive enough could see some signs.
Take, for instance, the Brand siblings who had been sticking to me these past few days.
Brand’s sister is a very cute little girl named Lisa. I really hope that the baby in my belly will be as adorable and lively as her.
"I heard from the aunt at home that Dad and the others are going to fight pirates at sea, just like in the TV shows! Aunt Margaret, have you ever seen those pirates? My brother said your husband is a very capable man; can he defeat those pirates?" Lisa looked up at me, her tone filled with innocent romance.
She is five years younger than Brand, at an age full of infinite curiosity and desire to explore the world.
After listening to her, I raised my hand to touch her little face, smiling gently as I replied, "I haven’t seen those pirates, but they rob cargo ships and fishing boats on the sea, and they are definitely very bad people. Bad people will ultimately be caught and punished. Do you understand, little Lisa?"
The little girl tried hard to grasp the meaning of my words, her face entirely serious.
I was amused by her adorable expression and smiled as I touched her cheek, feeling pleased.
At that moment, Brand, not wanting to be neglected, pouted and spoke up, "Lisa, how many times have I told you not to call the Lycan Queen ’aunt’? Look how young she is; she could only be our sister, understand?"
I have to admit, both siblings are very sweet-tongued, their actions and words always bring joy, truly my daily dose of happiness!
Especially the smart and cheerful Brand, whose skills in making girls happy I think Donald should learn from.
Of course, such thoughts should not be expressed in front of Donald. Because of Brand lingering around me these days, our Lycan King was nearly turning into a jealous pot!
I gathered my somewhat scattered thoughts, watching Brand and little Lisa bickering and interrupted with a light laugh, "Alright, alright, stop arguing. I am very willing to be little Lisa’s aunt; who could resist her cuteness!"
Upon hearing this, Lisa’s lips curled into a proud smile, looking triumphantly at her brother as if she had already won the battle.
Brand grimaced, now deeming it beneath him to continue the struggle with his sister. He looked at me, lowering his voice as he slowly asked, "Margaret, is there a little baby in your belly?"
His words caught me off guard, my expression remained unchanged, but my heart tightened. I let go of Lisa’s cheek and asked, "Why do you ask that?"
Brand’s look towards me shimmered with subtle changes; when he averted his gaze as if hiding it, I even noticed the moistness in his eyes, "It’s nothing, I just felt that the way you talked to Lisa... it reminded me of someone."
He paused, a nostalgic smile spreading across his face as he continued looking at Lisa, "You remind me a lot of our mother! She has been gone for many years now, and just now, I seemed to see her in you. I miss her. You probably don’t know that the first time we met at Sant Angelo, Lisa told me she liked you, saying you resembled her a lot."
As Brand spoke, he raised his hand to wipe away a tear, the vibrant red on top of his head seemingly becoming more subdued.
I looked at the defiant yet broken young man before me without saying a word. After several breaths, I pulled out a handkerchief and handed it to him.
This silent, not excessive comfort considerably relaxed the young man. He took the handkerchief and clumsily wiped his face, his smile returning quickly, "You’ve been staring at your belly and zoning out these days, your face always bearing a happy and contented smile! I saw the same expression on my mom when Lisa was still in her belly."
Hearing this, I sighed lightly, looking at the somewhat pitiable siblings and smiling before speaking, "Then, after the baby in my belly is born, why don’t you both play with her too? I think she will really like Lisa as a big sister."
"Really? Am I going to be a big sister?"
Lisa, who had been anxiously watching Brand at first, suddenly lit up when she heard me mention that key word. Her round, clear eyes gleamed, her whole being like a shining little star.
I looked at her and then at Brand beside her, speaking gently, "Yes, it’s true. And I am also a big sister; I have a very beautiful sister named Elizabeth."
"Then where is she now? Why aren’t you together? Don’t you miss her?"
Speaking of Elizabeth, I indeed missed her a bit. 𝒻𝑟ℯℯ𝑤𝑒𝑏𝑛𝘰𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝒸𝑜𝘮
It’s been almost a month since we traveled south to Lilo Sea, and she only called me twice from start to finish, that forgetful creature. I wonder how Anthony’s injuries are healing?
Perhaps my expression was too obvious, as Brand quickly noticed something was amiss and sat beside me, asking with concern, "What’s wrong? You look a little sad."
