Abandoned by the Alpha, I Became the Lycan King's Mate-Chapter 404 Provocation
[Donald’s Perspective]
Levi, of course, didn’t actually see me. He was just neurotically certain that I could see this footage. His face, unmasked in its mocking and provocative expression, stared into the camera with a dangerously provocative air!
I gripped the binoculars tightly, squinting as I suppressed the violence within me.
"Speaking of which, if I hadn’t discovered it in time, this foolish woman would have played herself to death! Did you get a clear look at those injuries on her? The ones on her forehead, inside her right palm?"
As Levi spoke, the smile on his face widened, as if he had discovered something delightfully joyful, but a closer look would reveal the complex darkness in his eyes.
"She nearly died last night! I mean, if Henry and I weren’t so kind as to find a Medical Practitioner to treat her. Henry said you care about this woman more than your own life, which I hardly believe. Still, now you have a perfect chance to prove it to me! Come out, I know you’re out there."
At that moment, Levi seemed mad—his chilling eyes were fixed on the camera, as if trying to murder me directly through it!
Christian looked at me anxiously, worried that I might lose my mind and recklessly charge forward to kill Levi, who kept provoking me, but I didn’t.
I scoffed, a mocking smile curling at my lips, "You certainly think too highly of yourself. Why should I prove how I feel about Margaret to you? Henry is wiser than you are. He wouldn’t engage in such pointless, meaningless actions."
I quietly ridiculed Levi’s clownish antics. Yet, deep down, I wasn’t as calm as I appeared. I knew that Levi and Henry were capable of anything, and his brazen provocations now could mean he had other plans in store!
So, I must rescue Margaret from his clutches soon. Starting a conflict might divert their attention, but it wasn’t a perfect solution.
I slowly formed other ideas in my mind and stopped focusing on the screen through the binoculars.
"Your Majesty!" Christian said at this moment. "Elliot has arrived with the Empress Dowager. Let’s listen to what the Empress has to say about the situation inside? I believe Levi won’t do anything to the Lycan Queen unless you show up."
Upon hearing this, I turned to look at Elliot and his entourage nearby, then sat up straight and spoke softly to Christian, "Take a few Lycans around to the hillside behind the hospital, see if you can find a way down from above. I’ll cover you from the front. Once inside, act according to the situation and locate Margaret immediately, understand?"
Appearing surprised by my sudden command, Christian hesitated momentarily before nodding. He then took four agile Lycans and departed immediately. In such a critical time, he certainly wouldn’t disobey any of my orders.
Elliot came back to my side just as Christian and his group had left. He glanced briefly before leading Licia straight to me and reported, "Your Majesty! I have brought the Empress Dowager back as you asked. She says she has something important to tell you!"
Hearing this, I looked at Licia with a tense demeanor behind him and spoke, "Cut to the chase. You saw Margaret inside, didn’t you? Is she injured, how bad? Which room is she in?"
Licia lifted her eyes to meet mine, her expression slightly relaxed as she replied, "I saw her! But..."
My heart jumped at Licia’s ’but’, my gaze sharpening with urgency, silently urging her to continue.
Licia lowered her eyes as if contemplating how to explain Margaret’s situation. Unable to contain my anxiety, I was about to prompt her directly when Licia took a deep breath and said solemnly, "Levi is keeping a very close watch on Margaret, not taking his eyes off her for a moment! After I slipped in with Simo, Margaret recognized me at a glance."
"But Levi was in the room at the time, so it wasn’t possible to communicate. Thinking quickly, she feigned an attempt to stab Levi and then pretended to be overpowered, injuring her own palm, which Simo seized as a chance to take to the pharmacy to treat the injury... I’ve told her all about your situation, so don’t worry too much!"
After Licia finished, I felt as if my heart had been gripped tightly, throbbing with pain while a fierce anger blazed within me, "’Stabbing Levi,’ ’Injuring her palm’? So you didn’t think of any strategies once inside and relied on Margaret’s self-harm to exchange information successfully?"
My eyes reddening uncontrollably, I turned my head and said coldly, "We’re short on time, so I’ll spare the harsh words. Just tell me, which room is Margaret confined in?"
