Abyss Sequence-Chapter 441 - 16: Relocation Complete
One by one, large buses drove into and out of the Abyss, bringing many more elves to No.2 Crimson.
Never before had No.2 Crimson seen so many elves; visually, they outnumbered humans.
The city between Lingquan City and No.2 Crimson was still under construction, and buses to transfer elves from No.2 Crimson to Lingquan City couldn’t operate continuously, so certain elves were bound to stay at No.2 Crimson, awaiting the next bus.
Fortunately, No.2 Crimson had some elf exchange students who could explain things about Blue Star and humans to their fellow elves from Mayin City.
Due to the Mayin City transfer incident, all elf exchange students had paused their studies to assist their fellow elves.
Back in Alfheim, they considered only the elves from their own city as family; upon arriving in Blue Star, surrounded by humans, elves from different cities became more familiar and formed a sense of racial identity.
No matter which city they’re from, as long as they’re elves, they are family and fellow kin.
With the help of the elf exchange students, elves relocated from Alfheim quickly learned what had happened to them and why they had to move from Alfheim to Blue Star.
Learning they would be far from their homeland Alfheim from then on, many elves burst into tears.
Faced with these elves’ tears, the elf exchange students were already numb.
Having explained to more than one group of elves from Mayin City about what happened in Mayin City and witnessed many elves crying on the spot, the exchange students initially empathized but over time, became silent and numb.
It’s not that they couldn’t feel sadness anymore, just that they couldn’t join the elves in Mayin City in their sorrow.
However, they truly sensed the grief of the elves from Mayin City.
The elves of Mayin City completely lost their homeland, not because of any fault of their own, but due to an external force compelling them to abandon their home.
The elf exchange students were enraged upon learning this. Since it happened in Mayin City, it could happen to other cities as well.
Yet, their strength was weak. Besides comforting their Mayin City peers here, they could offer little help even if they returned to Alfheim.
Alfheim had several Great Monarchs and two Saints. With those powerful figures there, the forces behind the scenes shouldn’t be able to leave Alfheim alive.
The elf exchange students awaited the intervention of Alfheim’s Great Monarchs and Saints to resolve the parasite incident, but sadly, none of them have shown up.
Yan Luo hadn’t slept for ten days and nights, but with constant replenishment of Magic Power, he didn’t feel fatigued.
His mind was clear and he was certain—within those ten days, no elven Great Monarch or Saint came to Mayin City.
Pearl City had already sought help from the humans temporarily stationed in Mayin City through communication sigils. They too discovered elves being parasitized; although few in number, their technology couldn’t resolve the issue, as there were numerous parasitized shellfish demons underwater beyond their control.
Things had escalated to such an extent, yet not a single Great Monarch or Saint has come forward.
Yan Luo didn’t know what the elves were thinking; perhaps they had some ’grand scheme’ they couldn’t reveal.
But their grand scheme was at the cost of sacrificing this area and several cities’ elves.
To Yan Luo, this was absolutely unacceptable.
After the Lord of Mayin City followed Yulia through the space portal, Yan Luo bent down, lifted the Space Box at his feet, closed the space portal, and headed toward Pearl City.
Humans would continue doing business with Pearl City, so since Pearl City sought their help, they could offer compensated assistance.
Yan Luo flew high in the sky, the cold wind whipping across his face.
Something puzzled him now—
Could such a civil trend truly breed a positive Evil God?
......
"Our world has been disconnected for too long."
Seated on the under-occupied bus, the Lord of Mayin City suddenly spoke to Yulia.
The lord, busy for over ten days, appeared very fatigued. Her chaotic hair was haphazardly tied behind her head, her appearance aging by centuries seemingly overnight.
"What?" Yulia asked, somewhat bewildered.
The Lord of Mayin City sighed, "The cities are isolated by wilderness, where powerful demons live that prevent elves from leaving their cities, a situation persisting for thousands of years, leading to emotional indifference among elves from different cities. Although we outwardly recognize being of the same race, a substantial racial division based on cities has long occurred. That’s why no Great Monarch or Saint came to assist us..."
Listening to the Lord of Mayin City, a question surfaced in Yulia’s mind.
—Could Alfheim truly incubate a positive Evil God as the Saints hoped?
Elves generally possess high moral standards, honesty and kindness among themselves, but limited to one city. Toward elves from other cities, their emotions are considerably indifferent.
Alfheim indeed developed as the Saints wished, yet perhaps they didn’t realize, they’re on the wrong path, far-removed.
Yulia pushed down her chaotic thoughts and reassured the Lord of Mayin City, "Maybe they knew you received human help, so they didn’t come?"
That’s also a possibility.
The Lord of Mayin City managed a bitter smile, "Maybe..."
As an elf, the Lord of Mayin City thought Yulia’s guess was unlikely to be right.
Did she not understand how indifferent elves from different cities in Alfheim were to each other?
After that, the Lord of Mayin City remained silent, leaning against the soft seat back and fell asleep.
She had truly been exhausted over these days, while other elves had opportunities to rest and rotate, she had to drag her unhealed body to think, command, shortening meal times to the minimum, and sleeping less than four hours a day.
However, when the bus passed through the Abyss entrance and the dazzling sunlight streamed in from outside, the Lord of Mayin City awoke.
In light of circumstances, Yulia flashed a smile at the Lord of Mayin City: "Welcome to Blue Star."
The Lord of Mayin City rubbed her eyes, turned to look out the window.
Her gaze went past the checkpoint’s gate, soaring toward distant skyscrapers, her eyes filled instantly with neon lights and projected images; even the ceaselessly blinking ads caught her eyes with eager anticipation.
This was Blue Star, a world entirely different from Alfheim.
"...Truly impressive."
In the eyes of the Lord of Mayin City, the city wasn’t particularly beautiful, not fitting her aesthetic taste; however, she sensed the thriving Life Force emanating from the city’s architecture.
Yulia introduced to the Lord of Mayin City, "This is No.2 Crimson, the exploration town established near the No.2 entrance to the Crimson Abyss we previously passed. It has a permanent population of a hundred thousand. Most elves from Alfheim have now been relocated to Lingquan City for settlement, the city closest to No.2 Crimson, with a population of tens of millions, capable of accommodating all elves from Mayin City."
The Lord of Mayin City knew Lingquan City was just an ordinary Blue Star city, with cities having tens of millions of residents in Blue Star not being remarkable.
Whereas in Alfheim, a city of ten million elves had never existed before.
"Humans are indeed formidable," the Lord of Mayin City marveled.
After losing Magic Power, developing an alternative technological path so well, reaching such heights.
Indeed, the most formidable civilization humans had ever encountered in the recorded history of the elves.
"There’s another thing you’re aware of. Between Lingquan City and No.2 Crimson, a city is under construction, specifically for you, though it can only accommodate fifty thousand elves," Yulia said with a complex expression.
The Lord of Mayin City had known this for quite some time, hearing it again now, she fell silent for a moment.
How could she not realize what humans intended?
However, it was assistance for the elves, hence the Lord of Mayin City didn’t scold, though her expression became somewhat complicated.
"We will work hard to figure out how to rebuild Mayin City."
