Crashing down in the Void, Alice panted heavily as she couldn’t help but feel nervous when facing two Abyss Lords.

She could feel her legs going soft momentarily before the thought of her reward rejuvenated her.

Lifting her hand, two orbs of blood swirled as she couldn’t help but giggle.

’Two! Two samples of Abyss Lord blood! This time it’s in reality and not in the Inverted World.’ She proudly declared while sitting up.

It wasn’t easy to get these two samples as she had to think of an idea on the fly.

A way to bypass a Lord’s defences and their focus in the Absolute Zone.

However, attacking a Lord with a large flashy display of force wasn’t the only way to withdraw a sample of blood.

A small focused cut would do the same.

In that regard, she used Void Flux – Cleave and had Alyss perform some of her martial arts to massively speed up the launch speed of her skill.

By dispersing her blood mist into the air, and focusing it only on the Lords, she was able to distract them for a brief moment while also disrupting their energy.

Creating the gap she needed.

But the most shocking or rather annoying thing was how little damage they sustained!

With all of her rapid preparation, using her own blood and her strongest slice, it would’ve been enough to cut anyone beneath a Lord in two!

Yet those two monsters only got a small scratch from it.

Just thinking about it sent a chill down Alice’s spine as she shook it off and stored the blood into two separate vials for later use.

’Do you think if I combined my normal resonance + the false one, then the artificial one, use a portion of my new skill that hasn’t been finished yet and your martial arts, we’ll be able to kill a Lord?’ Alice couldn’t help but ask.

After tasting the defences of a Lord first hand, she was beginning to doubt.

Which only reinforced the idea of how injured Allura was. Considering Ria’s attack was able to make her activate a portion of her first Resonance.

She’s a literal walking glass cannon right now. A cracked, barely held together glass cannon.

’Hmm… I think I need to make some adjustments. It was already difficult to defend against that old man with Absolute Zone and your blood disrupting his energy. If he was at full strength, that first grab would’ve caught us.’ Alyss frowned.

She recalled the potential consequences of being captured again and shivered.

Even if it wasn’t the Zenia family, there’s no telling how far their intelligence network goes. Not only that, but what about Nyer? The man behind their creation?

To them, his movements have been obscure and hidden. Only small signs pointed to his involvement yet he’s never taken the front stage despite his powers.

’But in terms of power, we’re still lacking a little I think. In both speed and power.’ Alyss folded her arms.

She was already beginning to adjust parts of her martial art in order to face someone with an Absolute Zone.

The key to breaking an Absolute Zone was not through deception but rather creating a gap yourself. It’s a chess game to see if she could force them to make a mistake before she did.

’Hmm… Do you think it’s time for us to consider our sixth Sigil then? Granted, we haven’t had much chance to experiment with our fifth considering well… It’s nature.’ Alice scratched her hair.

The fifth Sigil was both powerful yet very, very dangerous.

Use it too long in its natural form and she gets expelled. Invert it and well… she dies.

It was a hard balance to reach if she wanted to use it at its full potential and not a lot of the fights require that kind of power right now.

But if she was to use it however she wanted, it might become unavailable when she truly needed it.

’Is there even anything for us to kill? Or well… something that can help us bridge the gap without using the power Nyer planted into us if possible.’ Alyss questioned.

In the event where Nyer can control the blood in them, they needed a way to fight without relying on her blood.

Replacing Sigils was an ability granted by blood, therefore their sixth Sigil couldn’t be chosen at random.

’Hmm… Well, we need to go through our current options first. Hallucination + catalyst for fusion. Passive blood abilities. Blood and metal control, Void powers, level up with a side of exile. Then in terms of Lord abilities that we use often, we have Tiamat, Severance and Duality. The other Sigils are handy to some extent but we don’t use them as often.’

While there are other Sigils, it’s gotten to the point where Alice didn’t need quantity. Their biggest benefit for a long time has been the sheer variety of abilities they could access. But now, it was time for them to properly fuse, combine and synergise abilities together in order to create a bigger multiplier for power.

A method to truly reach the Lords.

Therefore, they had to cut down what’s not needed and streamline their process.

’Well Tiamat and Allura’s Sigil act as power. They’re our strongest Sigils if we’re talking about Sigils on their own with no additional factor. But in terms of strongest combination, it’ll be first Sigil + Duality + Tiamat. This formula has been our hardest hitting thus far that we’ve tested.’ Alyss spoke up as Alice was surprised by how vocal she was being.

But considering this was a discussion regarding their survival and method in facing Lords, it was no wonder.

’Speaking of formula, let’s stick with that. So we have the foundation, the catalyst and then the force multiplier. Foundation being the basic abilities we work with, catalyst is like Duality that helps us change, fuse or cause a reaction between our powers. And the force multiplier is what we use to release the biggest hit.’

’Sure, but you’re forgetting Void Flux is primarily a stand alone ability created through just your second Sigil. It’s acting as all three variables of foundation, catalyst and even being the force multiplier.’ Alyss reminded as Alice paused.

As Alyss mentioned, her second Sigil, in terms of pure versatility, hasn’t even come close to being beaten yet.

’Let’s exclude Sigil two for now. We need to think about options and what we can use to substitute each of the factors. For foundation, we have Sigil one, three and four that can work. In terms of catalyst…’

[So far, just duality and potentially Sigil five if you count the level up as a catalyst rather than just an outside enhancement. You’ve yet to discover other catalysts that work on par with Duality.] Cayla spoke up as Alice nodded in agreement.

Most of her abilities or attacks were simply a formula of foundation + force multiplier. Of course, her second Sigil would count as the best catalyst she has but she’s not including it for now.

’Then that just leaves force multipliers. Of which we have an abundance of.’ Alice folded her arms.

Tiamat, Severance, Void, Artifact, Sigil five.

’I think that makes it clear then. We need a catalyst as Sigil six in order to broaden our options and combinations.’ Alice concluded.

Even if they were to disregard the Sigil swapping abilities of her second Sigil, there was still the Void, Personal Artifact and Sigil five acting as force multipliers. They won’t hit as hard as Severance or Tiamat but they’re certainly options that Alice can use.

’Now comes the hard question. What the f*ck do we get that can act as the foundation? Something to bring change and fresh inspiration to our Sigil combinations. We also need to be careful since this is our sixth. It’s the final piece to achieving a two Sigil resonance, one that is entirely comprised of Anti Hunter Sigils.’ Alice sat on the ground with her legs crossed.

Trying to figure out something that can work similar to Duality when it comes to acting as a catalyst was difficult. Especially if she considers the benefits that her second Sigil and Duality brought.

Finding something of that level was going to be hard unless she was satisfied with settling for less.

[I’m not going to say anything since I believe you are well aware of what I want to say.] Cayla rested her head on her hand as she glanced at Alice from behind her table.

’Yes yes, I know. If I didn’t ask Kaden to seal you, you would be able to find something for me. But since you brought this up, I’m assuming you have a solution?’ Alice rolled her eyes with a sigh.

[Correct. I have some… candidates in mind that should match what you’re looking for. But the issue isn’t which one you should hunt but rather IF you can find them to begin with. From what I last remember, a lot of these beasts no longer exist.] Cayla shrugged.

Hearing this, Alice couldn’t help but tilt her head.

’Wait. The f*ck? What do you mean no longer exist? Are people having difficulties finding them?’ Alice questioned.

Even if a beast were to die, after a period of time, the Abyss itself will spit out a beast of the same species. Leading to a cycle where types of beasts never truly disappear.

Yet Cayla was now telling her that some of them don’t exist anymore?

[This information might be a little outdated, but people aren’t struggling to find them. They simply aren’t around anymore. Extinct.]
