Chapter 210: A Perfect Gift

Evander and Delphinia walked side by side, their steps slow as they made their way down from the rooftop. The night air was crisp, carrying the faint scent of flowers from the garden below. The soft glow of the hotel corridor lights cast a warm ambiance around them.

"Is Ashton in our room?" Delphinia asked, glancing up at Evander.

Evander let out a small chuckle. "I asked Julian and Claire to be with him, so he’s probably in their room for now."

Delphinia nodded, satisfaction evident in her expression. "Good."

Evander arched a brow, his lips curving into a smirk. "Why? Planning something naughty and relieved Ashton isn’t with us?" He leaned in closer, his face mere inches from hers.

Delphinia giggled and playfully pushed his cheek. "Oh, please, Evander. If anyone has an ulterior motive here, it’s definitely you."

He didn’t even try to deny it. Instead, he grinned mischievously. "I won’t argue that. If Julian or Claire come knocking with Ashton, let’s just pretend we’re asleep."

Delphinia gasped in mock scandal. "Hey! That’s your son!"

Evander shrugged nonchalantly. "My son needs to understand his father’s needs. Not to mention, it’s my birthday."

Delphinia could only shake her head, laughter bubbling from her lips as they finally reached their suite.

The moment the door clicked shut behind them, Evander wasted no time. He turned to her with a hunger in his eyes, capturing her lips in a deep kiss. It started slow but quickly grew intense, filled with passion. As their bodies pressed together, they stumbled onto the couch, Delphinia landing beneath him, her hands gripping onto his shoulders.

Evander pulled back just slightly, his gaze smoldering as he traced his fingers down her arm. "As much as I love seeing you in this dress, looking absolutely breathtaking..." He leaned down, pressing a kiss to her bare shoulder. "I love it even more when you’re not wearing anything at all."

His lips trailed down to her foot, then to her ankle, and upward to her thigh. Delphinia sucked in a breath, biting down on her own hand to stifle the moan threatening to escape.

But just as Evander was about to continue his teasing, Delphinia suddenly stopped him. "Wait."

Evander pulled back slightly, staring at her with clear frustration. "Wait? Are you serious right now?"

Delphinia giggled and sat up, smoothing down her dress. "Come with me."

Evander let out a dramatic sigh before getting up as well. "You just ruined the fun, sweetheart."

She shot him a playful smirk over her shoulder. "Trust me, this is something better than fun."

"Better than sex?" He sounded doubtful but intrigued.

"Yes."

Evander followed her curiously as she led him toward their bedroom. The moment they stepped inside, Delphinia turned to him and gestured toward the bed. "Sit."

With a raised brow, Evander did as told. "Are you going to blindfold me?"

Delphinia chuckled as she retrieved a silk blindfold from the dresser. "How did you know?"

"Oh, so you do like to play this way," he murmured, smirking as she wrapped the fabric over his eyes, tying it securely behind his head.

"Shhh," Delphinia hushed, pressing a finger against his lips before walking away.

Evander, now blindfolded, tilted his head slightly, listening for any clue as to what she was doing. He heard the rustle of fabric, the soft click of a box being opened, and then the sound of her footsteps returning.

"Here," Delphinia said, placing something small and rectangular into his hands.

Evander frowned, feeling the smooth object with his fingers. He shook it gently. "Is it jewelry? A pen?" He tapped it lightly against his palm. "A USB drive?"

Evander’s brows furrowed beneath the blindfold as he turned the small object over in his hands, his fingers tracing its smooth edges. The weight was light, but not weightless. It had no sharp corners, no distinct ridges that would give away its purpose.

He gave it another shake, listening closely. Nothing rattled inside. No clues there.

Delphinia couldn’t hold back her giggle. "You’re terrible at guessing. Just open it."

Evander smirked and reached up, pulling off the blindfold. His eyes adjusted to the dim bedroom lighting as he looked down at the item in his hand.

A pregnancy test.

Positive.

His entire body stilled.

He stared at it for a long moment before slowly lifting his gaze to meet Delphinia’s. His expression was unreadable, his lips slightly parted, his breath caught in his throat. "You better not be joking with me right now."

Delphinia chuckled softly, reaching out to take his free hand. "The other day when I fainted, it wasn’t because of stress or anything. I went to the doctor, and it turns out... I’m pregnant." Her eyes softened, her voice gentle. "I told the doctor not to tell you right away because I wanted to make it a special gift for you."

Still, Evander didn’t say a word. He only stared at her, processing her words, his fingers tightening around the pregnancy test as if to confirm it was real.

Delphinia smiled, bringing her hands up to cup his face. "Congratulations, Evander. You’re going to be a—"

Before she could finish, Evander suddenly pulled her into his arms, wrapping her in a tight embrace. Delphinia gasped, her hands gripping onto his shoulders as he held her close. She could feel the rapid beat of his heart against her own, the slight tremor in his grip.

Evander buried his face against her neck, inhaling deeply before whispering, "Father. I’m going to be a father again."

Delphinia melted into his embrace, her arms circling his back. "Yes, you are."

After a long moment, Evander pulled back slightly, his eyes filled with nothing but tenderness. He pressed his forehead against hers, his breath mingling with hers as he whispered, "And you, my love, are going to be a mother."

A soft smile graced Delphinia’s lips, her eyes shimmering with emotion. "Yes, I am."

They stayed like that for a while, foreheads pressed together, their hands clasped, their hearts beating in sync. In that moment, there was nothing else in the world—just the two of them and the precious new life growing inside Delphinia.

It was, without a doubt, the perfect birthday gift Evander could have ever received.
