Chapter 211: A New Beginning

The morning sun filtered through the curtains as the soft rustling of the sheets accompanied the slow stirrings of two figures nestled together beneath them. Evander blinked his eyes open, adjusting to the gentle light, only to be greeted by the sight of Delphinia lying beside him, her face serene, lips slightly parted in sleep.

A slow, contented smile stretched across his face as he reached out, tracing his fingers along her cheek before leaning in and pressing a kiss to her lips. She stirred at the contact, her lashes fluttering open as she returned his kiss, a small hum escaping her.

"Please tell me last night wasn’t a dream," Evander murmured against her lips, his deep voice still laced with sleep.

Delphinia chuckled, her fingers finding his and bringing his hand down to rest against her stomach. "It wasn’t a dream," she assured him, her tone warm and affectionate. "Our baby is right here."

Evander exhaled a soft breath, his expression shifting to one of pure joy as he let his palm rest flat against her abdomen. His eyes, filled with wonder, lifted to meet hers. "I can’t believe it. Another child. Ashton’s going to have a sibling." He grinned before adding teasingly, "My hard work has finally borne fruit."

Delphinia playfully smacked his arm, making him chuckle. "Oh, sorry, I meant our hard work. Of course, you worked your ass off too."

She rolled her eyes, but her laughter soon joined his, their joy filling the morning air. For a brief moment, Delphinia let herself absorb the reality of it all. This was happening. She was going to have a baby with Evander. It felt almost unreal.

With Kai, the mere thought of bringing a child into the world had felt like a punishment. But now... now, it was different. Now, she wanted this. She wanted Evander to be the father of her child. And he was. The sheer excitement of it all made her heart race.

She sighed happily, remembering how Ashton had returned to their room late last night, already asleep in Julian’s arms. The image of Julian’s sour expression as he handed over the sleeping child made her chuckle inwardly. It seemed like she and Evander had interrupted Julian and Claire’s precious time together.

Shaking her head, Delphinia stretched before nudging Evander. "Come on, we should get up. Breakfast is waiting."

Evander groaned but obliged, his hand reluctant to leave her stomach as he pulled himself up. They both got ready, Delphinia opting for a simple yet elegant dress, while Evander, ever the composed businessman, donned a crisp white shirt with his sleeves rolled up to his elbows. They made their way downstairs with Ashton, hand in hand, finding Julian and Claire already waiting in the hotel’s dining area.

Julian spotted them first and raised an eyebrow. "Well, well, look who finally decided to show up. You were nowhere to be found last night, Delphinia. I was starting to think my brother locked you away."

Delphinia smiled, exchanging a glance with Evander before turning to Julian. "Sorry about that. I was busy preparing a little surprise for Evander."

Claire, a petite woman with soft brown curls and kind eyes, chuckled. "No worries. It’s nice to finally meet you properly."

Delphinia extended her hand, and Claire took it warmly. "Likewise."

As they exchanged pleasantries, Victor and Elaine—Evander and Julian’s parents—entered the dining area together. The family gathered around, exchanging greetings before settling down for breakfast. The atmosphere was light and pleasant, with idle chatter and the clinking of utensils filling the space.

Midway through breakfast, Evander cleared his throat, drawing everyone’s attention. He exchanged a look with Delphinia before speaking. "Actually, we have a little announcement to make."

Elaine’s eyes sparkled with curiosity, while Julian leaned back in his chair, arms crossed, waiting. "Oh? Let’s hear it."

Delphinia took a deep breath before smiling. "I’m pregnant."

For a brief second, silence filled the table as the words sank in. Then, Elaine gasped, her hands flying to her mouth before she stood up and rushed to embrace Delphinia. "Oh, my dear, this is wonderful news!" She then turned to Evander and pulled him into a hug as well. "Congratulations, both of you."

Victor simply nodded in approval, a proud smile curving his lips. "Congratulations."

Julian let out a low whistle before grinning. "Well, looks like I’m going to be an uncle again. Congrats, man." He stood and smacked Evander’s shoulder before holding up a hand, and Evander, with a smirk, returned the high-five.

Claire joined in the excitement, standing to hug both Delphinia and Evander. "This is amazing! I’m so happy for you."

Meanwhile, Ashton, who had been sitting quietly throughout the conversation, remained silent. Delphinia turned to look at him, a flicker of worry creeping into her heart. What if he didn’t like the idea of having a sibling? What if he felt neglected?

Evander, noticing Delphinia’s concern, reached for Ashton and crouched beside him. "Hey, buddy," he said gently. "You’re going to be a big brother now."

Ashton’s small hands gripped the edges of his chair as he looked at his father. His brows furrowed, and for a moment, he said nothing. Then, slowly, his lips curved into a smile. He got up from his chair, walked over to Delphinia, and without a word, wrapped his little arms around her.

"I’m happy," he said softly against her stomach. "I get to be a big brother."

Delphinia’s chest tightened with emotion as she hugged him back. Evander placed a hand on their son’s head, ruffling his hair affectionately. Around them, the family watched with warm smiles, the joy of the moment filling the air like sunlight after a long storm.

As the morning carried on, laughter and conversation continued over breakfast, but to Evander, nothing compared to the happiness he felt in that moment. His gaze drifted to Delphinia, who was still holding Ashton, her eyes shining with love.

A family.

They were truly becoming a family.

And for Evander, there was nothing more perfect than that.
