Accidentally Yours, My Super Rich Second Husband-Chapter 219: The True Stars of the Night
As the wedding reception unfolded, it became increasingly evident that the true center of attention wasn’t the bride and groom, but rather Evander and Delphinia.
Wherever they walked, eyes followed. Guests whispered behind the champagne glasses, murmuring about the unexpected revelation of their marriage. Delphinia, poised and radiant, stood beside Evander with effortless grace, her arm gently looped around his. She wore a floor-length gown of midnight blue, shimmering under the golden glow of the chandeliers, while Evander, in his tailored black suit, exuded an effortless authority that made it impossible to look away.
They moved through the crowd like royalty, pausing to exchange pleasantries with acquaintances. Every now and then, someone would pull Evander aside, eyes wide with curiosity.
"I had no idea you were married, Evander," one older businessman remarked, his voice laced with surprise.
Evander offered a polite smile, the same one he had repeated multiple times that evening. "It was private," he responded smoothly, his grip on Delphinia’s waist tightening just slightly. "Not many people knew about it."
Another guest joined the conversation, shaking his head in amusement. "Private indeed. It’s rare to see you settle down, Walton. But I suppose with a woman as stunning as Delphinia, it’s no wonder."
Delphinia smiled, tilting her head slightly as if unbothered by the remarks. She had anticipated this reaction. After all, the last time she had stood at a wedding like this, she had been the unfortunate bride of Kai Robinson. But tonight was different. Tonight, she stood beside a man who valued her, a man who held her hand with confidence, not out of duty.
Across the ballroom, the Robinson family watched the couple with barely concealed disdain. Gregory’s jaw was set in a tight line, his fingers clenching around his glass as he observed Delphinia’s every move. Marissa stood beside him, her lips slightly parted, eyes narrowed in disbelief. 𝓯𝙧𝙚𝒆𝙬𝙚𝒃𝙣𝙤𝒗𝓮𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢
"How could she have married Evander Walton?" Marissa finally hissed under her breath, barely audible over the orchestra’s soft melody.
Gregory inhaled deeply, a practiced smile curving his lips as he sipped from his glass, masking his irritation. He didn’t respond immediately, though he was thinking the exact same thing.
Their family had tried—desperately—to tie Sandra to Evander in the past, offering everything short of outright begging. The Waltons had been courteous but firm in their refusal. And now, here he was, married to Delphinia Harrington. The very woman they had cast aside.
"How did she do it?" Marissa whispered furiously. "How did she go from being Kai’s discarded wife to—this?"
Gregory let out a slow, measured breath. "Luck," he muttered, though deep down, he knew it wasn’t just luck. Delphinia had carved out a place for herself, and he hated that he had underestimated her.
On the other side of the venue, Sandra’s lips curled into a scowl, her manicured nails digging into the delicate fabric of her dress as she stared across the room at Delphinia. The woman stood beside Evander, poised and radiant, as if she belonged at his side. As if she had always belonged there.
It made Sandra sick.
Marissa and Gregory weren’t the only ones seething. Sandra felt the weight of it, the undeniable sting of failure. She had tried—oh, how she had tried—to win over Evander Walton. Her family had practically laid everything at his feet, promising wealth, status, influence. And yet, he had remained unmoved, his disinterest a brutal slap to the face.
And now? He had married her.
Leo, who stood lazily beside her, let out a low chuckle, his sharp blue eyes glinting with amusement. "Say, sister," he mused, tilting his head as if he were merely making an observation. "Isn’t he the man you failed miserably to get?"
Sandra’s glare could have turned him to stone. "Shut up," she snapped, her voice clipped and venomous.
Leo merely smirked, clearly enjoying this far more than he should. "I mean, you practically threw yourself at him," he continued, undeterred. "And yet—look at that." He gestured toward Evander and Delphinia with a flick of his wrist. "You’re here. And he’s there. With her."
Sandra clenched her teeth so hard her jaw ached. Her eyes locked onto Delphinia once more, taking in every detail—the way she carried herself, the way she smiled faintly at something Evander said, the way he leaned in ever so slightly, as if she had his undivided attention.
It didn’t make sense.
What did he see in her?
Meanwhile, in stark contrast to the Robinsons’ bitter expressions, Robert Harrington stood at the other side of the ballroom, watching his daughter with quiet admiration. He had never been the warmest father, never given Delphinia the love she had deserved, but tonight, as he looked at her standing beside Evander, he couldn’t help but feel a pang of pride.
"She looks beautiful," a guest beside him remarked, swirling the wine in their glass. "So much like her mother."
Robert nodded, a small, wistful smile crossing his lips. "That’s right."
Another guest chimed in. "And lucky, too. Imagine, marrying a Walton."
Robert took a slow sip of his drink, his gaze never leaving Delphinia. He could still remember the day she walked away from their family, refusing to be a pawn in their games any longer. He had thought she was foolish, that she would come crawling back the moment she failed. But she hadn’t. She had built her life on her own terms. And now, she stood in a position of strength, more radiant than ever.
He swallowed the lump in his throat. He had been wrong about her. About so many things. And though regret simmered in his chest, he could at least hope for one thing—that her marriage with Evander would be different from the one she had suffered through with Kai.
As the evening continued, Robert lifted his glass slightly, as if toasting from afar.
"To a happy marriage, my daughter," he murmured under his breath. "One far better than the last."
And with that, he took another sip, watching as his daughter and her new husband stole the night, their presence outshining everything else.
