“I want to buy breakfast for tomorrow from Beryll’s bakery!”

As we strolled through the city, Ellen’s sudden declaration led us to stop by the bakery.

“Beryll’s bakery has the best butter rolls and honey melon bread—so delicious, nyah!”

“The honey they use comes from giant beehives, and it’s absolutely divine~!”

As Ellen giggled softly, her expression suddenly shifted as if something had come to mind.

“Oh, speaking of which, I wonder how Solaris and her crew are doing?”

While I tilted my head in curiosity, Kurona helpfully added an explanation.

“Solaris is the youngest daughter of Beryll’s bakery, nyah.”

“Really? I had no idea.”

Beryll’s bakery... Now that she mentioned it, I remembered. It’s where we source the bread for our café!

So Solaris is a part of that family.

“Should we check in on Kiril and the others while we’re at it?”

“I feel uneasy about them. Let’s do that, nyah.”

Lulu was also eyeing the bakery with great interest.

“Lulu, do you still want to eat?”

“Ru!”

Lulu really has quite the appetite, doesn’t she?

With that, we followed the wonderful aroma and stepped into the bakery.

“Unbelievable!! Absolutely unacceptable!!!”

Ellen’s furious shout echoed through the garden at the back of the bakery.

Kurona and I exchanged awkward glances as we watched the scene unfold.

“If you’re an S-rank adventurer, you should complete the requests you take on promptly!”

“But... there was a cute lady...”

“Requests come before cute ladies!!!”

Kiril continued to make excuses, and Ellen remained furious.

It all started just after we entered Belle’s bakery.

After greeting the familiar shopkeeper and asking about Kiril and his crew, we found out they had only just arrived. Considering how much time we had spent eating and shopping, we were puzzled... until we stumbled upon this scene.

“Kiril can’t resist pretty faces...”

Solaris muttered under her breath, her eyes half-lidded in disapproval.

It seemed she had been dragged around by Kiril and had a tough time.

“Come on! Just hurry up and get it done already!”

“Yeah, yeah. If it’s this time of year, it’s probably just some overgrown slime or something.”

Finally seeming motivated, Kiril slipped on a ring, then pulled on a pair of gloves over it, tugging them into place with his teeth.

“Solaris.”

“...”

“Are you sure? If there’s anything you want to say, now’s the time.”

Kiril crouched down, checking the sword at his hip, so he was eye level with Solaris.

What’s going on here...?

“...Nothing.”

Solaris shook her head slightly, but she didn’t look happy.

As we exchanged puzzled glances, Kiril scratched his head roughly and stood up.

“Alright, fine. Guess we’ll just check out this problematic warehouse or whatever.”

We headed to an old warehouse behind the bakery.

As we approached, Lulu, perched on my shoulder, began growling softly.

“Lulu...?”

How unusual.

It’s rare for Lulu to growl like this.

The last time something like this happened was when we talked about the Saint.

As I wondered what was going on, I felt someone’s gaze.

It was Solaris.

“...Big sister.”

“Yes?”

Solaris looked like she was about to cry.

Startled, I crouched down instinctively.

“What’s wrong?”

“Um...”

She tugged at the hem of my clothes.

“Over there... there’s something like a black haze hanging around...”

“A haze?”

I looked toward the warehouse.

But I couldn’t see anything.

“Alright, I’m opening it. You all step back further,” Kiril said casually as he opened the warehouse door.
