Chapter 80: Chapter 80: Congratulations, You’re Going to Be a Mom

Saul Reynolds’s voice instantly became ecstatic. If he had a tail, it would have been spinning like a pinwheel.

"Should I arrange for a car to pick you up?"

"No need. I’ll just drive over myself."

Just as she hung up with Saul Reynolds, a call came in from Eva Monroe.

The moment she answered, Eva Monroe’s shriek echoed in her ear. "Isla Sutton, you’ll never guess whose invitation I just got!"

Eliza Sutton replied deadpan, "An invitation to the Si Winter Fashion Show."

"You’re a psychic! An absolute psychic!" Eva Monroe howled. "Not only did I get the invitation, but General Manager Reynolds also gave me a gown from Si’s latest collection! All those salty haters are going to be so jealous. My rivals will probably try to drag me down and accuse me of sleeping my way to the top with a sugar daddy."

I forgot to mention, Eva Monroe was in the entertainment industry.

The thing was, she was so obscure that she’d often go two or three months without a single gig, to the point that Eva Monroe herself would almost forget she was in the business.

Eliza Sutton asked, "So you refused the gown Saul Reynolds gave you?"

"No way! I wouldn’t refuse it even if they dragged my name through the mud. Who knows, maybe when I get famous, Si will see how loyal I am to the brand and make me a brand ambassador, or a ’friend of the brand,’ or something."

Eliza Sutton chuckled. "And you’d be satisfied with just being a brand ambassador?"

"Of course not! My goal is to be Si’s global spokesperson."

Eliza Sutton said, "Alright, I approve. From now on, you’re the global spokesperson. And the only one."

Eva Monroe couldn’t stop laughing. "That’s my girl, always having faith in me. Alright, sis, hurry up and come out. My car’s parked at the entrance to the Lockwood Group."

An hour and a half later, Eva Monroe’s Ferrari pulled up in front of the stadium.

Eliza Sutton got out of the car, and the two of them walked toward the stadium, arm in arm.

"Wow! Isn’t that Diva Vaughn? And Heavenly King Campbell, and Superstar Shea! And the top socialite, the Walker Heiress, and the Mayor’s Daughter... Oh my god, so many big shots. I suddenly feel like an ugly duckling that’s stumbled into a flock of swans."

Just then, a sarcastic voice came from behind them.

"You’ve got a good read on yourself. You really are an ugly duckling who’s snuck into a flock of swans. But you’re not the only one. So is Eliza Sutton."

Eliza Sutton turned to see Amelia Sutton approaching on Sean Hughes’s arm.

Amelia Sutton was wearing glamorous makeup today. At first glance, she seemed dazzling, but compared to Eliza Sutton, she came off as somewhat gaudy, and her beautiful face looked rather common.

A flash of annoyance appeared in Amelia Sutton’s eyes, but her face remained plastered with a smile. "Sister, I was just speaking the truth. You’re not mad, are you? Of course not. An older sister can’t be so petty."

Amelia Sutton’s passive-aggressive remarks made Eva Monroe snap.

She rolled up her sleeves. "Ugh, my temper just can’t handle a bitch like this."

Eliza Sutton held Eva Monroe back.

In contrast to Eva Monroe’s fury, Eliza Sutton’s face was all smiles.

Eliza Sutton said, "How could I be? I wouldn’t get mad over one truth, or even ten."

Amelia Sutton replied, "You’re so magnanimous, Sister."

Eliza Sutton said, "Not really magnanimous. I just want you to relax and have fun today. In a few months, once you’re a mother, you won’t have the freedom to go out like this anymore."

"Eliza Sutton!" Amelia Sutton’s pretty face contorted with rage, and she couldn’t stop herself from raising a hand to slap Eliza.

Eliza Sutton raised her hand and caught Amelia Sutton’s wrist. "Why resort to violence? Or do you not want to accept Sean Hughes’s child? If that’s the case, the poor thing won’t even be able to come home to his family. Tsk, how pitiful..."

Sean Hughes furrowed his brow. "Eliza, trying to drive a wedge between us is pointless. You won’t be able to come between me and Amelia."

"That’s for the best." With a flick of her wrist, Eliza Sutton flung Amelia Sutton away, sending her stumbling into Sean Hughes’s arms. "You two take your time. We’ll head inside."

"What did you mean back there?" Eva Monroe asked Eliza Sutton. "Is Amelia Sutton pregnant?"

"She’s not pregnant. If she were, could she be wearing heels that high? The one who’s pregnant is a woman Sean Hughes is keeping on the side."

Eva Monroe’s jaw nearly dropped. "What? Sean Hughes is keeping another woman? I never would have guessed. I can’t believe a gentleman of his standing would do something like that."

A sarcastic smile touched Eliza Sutton’s lips as she said lightly, "If you could tell a man from a monster at a single glance, there wouldn’t be so many heartbroken people in this world."

"You’re right. I’m suddenly so glad your engagement to Sean Hughes was called off. Otherwise, you’d be stuck with a scumbag like that, and the rest of your life would be miserable."

"That’s my girl. We think alike."

As Eliza Sutton spoke, her phone suddenly rang.

She took out her phone and saw it was a call from Shane Lockwood.

Seeing the number flash on the screen, Eliza Sutton silenced it out of reflex.

Eva Monroe happened to see the name on Eliza Sutton’s screen and looked surprised. "A call from Yama Lockwood? Why aren’t you answering?"

"My girl is right here with me. Why would I answer a call from a man?"

Eva Monroe gave Eliza Sutton a thumbs-up. "You’re a warrior. You’ve got to be the first person ever to dare treat Yama Lockwood like that."

Eliza Sutton lifted her chin. "It’s nothing."

’So why do I feel so inexplicably guilty?’

"Sean, look at my sister. She hates me so much she just has to rub salt in my wounds."

"What Eliza Sutton said was harsh, but it was also the truth. Amelia, you need to be prepared. The child in Sherry’s belly is the eldest grandson of the Hughes family. Neither I nor my parents will ever give him up. Of course, if you’re unwilling to accept this, we won’t force you."

"I’m willing! I’m willing," Amelia Sutton declared immediately. Then, her eyes turning red, she said, "Sean, when I say I’m willing, I’m actually lying to you. It’s not that I’m not tolerant. It’s that no woman could ever accept the man she loves having a child with another woman. But I love you! I want to be with you, I want to marry you. So no matter how much it hurts, no matter how much pain I’m in, I will accept it. I’m begging you, please love me just like you did before."

Amelia Sutton looked at Sean Hughes, her expression heartbreakingly pitiful.

Sean Hughes’s heart softened. He pulled Amelia Sutton into his arms and said, "You are my fiancée. Since I’ve promised you my life, that won’t change."

Moved, Amelia Sutton hugged Sean Hughes tightly. "Sean, your guarantee puts my mind at ease."

Sean Hughes stroked Amelia Sutton’s hair and chuckled. "You silly girl."

Suddenly, a delicate voice called out, "Sean."

Amelia Sutton turned her head and saw Sherry Caldwell, dressed in a white dress with a pitifully fragile expression, running toward them with sparkling eyes.

"Slow down, slow down." Sean Hughes immediately let go of Amelia Sutton and hurried over to support Sherry Caldwell. He chided gently, "Slow down, be careful of the baby. You’re a grown woman, you should know to be more careful."
