After work, start to speedrun the other world-Chapter 43 - 27 Kill a Dragon to Test Skills_2
But, once the banquet begins tonight, Xi Mu would probably be able to make a decision.
With that thought in mind, he didn’t dwell on the matter, but rather enjoyed his wine and food while chatting about some trivial matters.
Apart from the red-haired princess, who was sitting under a nearby tree and constantly staring at Xi Mu, it was an extremely pleasant experience.
No... more accurately, it was even more delightful.
Xi Mu raised his glass toward the red-haired princess under the tree and, seeing her dissatisfied yet helpless expression, he drank his wine with pleasure.
Pleasure, sometimes, is just so unadorned.
After dinner.
Xi Mu, Letixia, and Jed followed the butler to their pre-arranged lodgings.
Meanwhile.
In the courtyard.
"How do you feel?" Siegfried, sipping his drink, smiled and asked his daughter, "Does this man meet your expectations?"
"There seems to be nothing I dislike." The red-haired princess spoke gloomily, "But thinking about marrying the man who killed my father, I can’t feel happy no matter what."
"If he could kill me, that means he’s a more reliable man." Siegfried seemed puzzled as he responded, "Isn’t that a more suitable marriage candidate?"
With that, he shook his head.
"Besides, he might not even choose to marry you."
The red-haired princess looked confused and somewhat unconvinced, naturally assuming Ahtal would choose to marry.
After all, choosing to become siblings or a Sage involves passively accepting support, while becoming spouses allows one to actively access the wealth of Sky City.
Siegfried just smiled and didn’t explain further to his daughter. He hadn’t felt any disturbance in Ahtal after stating his conditions, even though they were enough to drive anyone mad, yet Ahtal seemed uninterested.
So, Ahtal might really choose to become siblings, or even the next Sage.
The likelihood of him marrying his daughter was lower.
"You can try approaching him proactively, they still need someone to guide them around Sky City." He rubbed his daughter’s head and then stood up to leave the courtyard; as a king, he still had some matters to attend to.
The red-haired princess touched her head, pondered whether to approach Xi Mu, but ultimately decided against it.
Even if she went, she wouldn’t know what to say.
...
...
As night fell.
Secluded room.
Private gathering.
Beauties congregated.
But, the participants brought their families.
"..." Siegfried looked at the doorway, where Xi Mu and Letixia were, and after a long silence, he turned to look at the row of beauties sitting beside him and wistfully waved them away.
"Who brings their family to this kind of gathering." He chuckled at Xi Mu and Letixia, "And I arranged this banquet specially."
Xi Mu retorted, "You didn’t say it was this kind of banquet."
"Isn’t it something every man understands?" Siegfried raised his hand to his forehead, but he was too lazy to argue further, realizing his apprentice was perhaps too upright.
He had implicitly hinted, yet Xi Mu still brought Letixia, his little lover; how could one enjoy themselves then.
Letixia: "..."
Initially, she just thought about helping Xi Mu deal with the harassment from the nobles at the banquet, but turned out the so-called banquet was just a private... mess.
"It’s fine, having a chat is also nice." Xi Mu casually remarked and walked into the dimly lit room, sitting beside Siegfried.
Seeing this, Letixia chose a corner a bit further away, trying not to disturb the conversation between Ahtal and Siegfried.
Of course, she could choose to leave, but that might trigger a very unpleasant outcome, that of Siegfried calling back the beauties he sent away.
So, she chose to stay.
After chatting for a while, the atmosphere enlivened, and Siegfried took a sip of his wine and suddenly said:
"Speaking of which, do you... know about dragons?"
Xi Mu shook his head, his expression unchanging as he lied: "I don’t know. I haven’t even seen what a dragon looks like."
"Would you like to see one?" Siegfried smiled, casually pouring himself another glass of wine as he looked into the liquid in his cup.
"How about starting by killing a cursed dragon?" He pulled out a map and handed it to Xi Mu, explaining:
"A dragon that escaped from Lionheart Castle. It seems to be cursed because it was right at the epicenter of a calamity, the curse penetrating deep into its bones."
"Now it’s somewhat delirious, hiding in a valley to heal. Even if left alone, it will eventually die."
"Do you want to end its suffering?"
Xi Mu looked at the marked ’X’ on the map and realized that Siegfried had provided a significantly different location for this side quest.
However, this should be the result of the game’s optimization. The escaped cursed dragon from Lionheart Castle had its location randomly refreshed.
This is undoubtedly to add a sense of novelty for seasoned players,
"Okay, I’ll go and kill it." He nodded in agreement, completely unanxious about the task of slaying a dragon set before him.
After all, dragons granted truly abundant experience points. He remembered that during the first week he was stuck, no matter what, he couldn’t defeat the Queen of the Magic Kingdom. He went around slaying dragons to level up, and finally, with sheer force of levels, he managed to overwhelm the Magic Queen.
So, he was quite willing to kill dragons.
"Hahahaha, consider this practice for dragon slaying then." Siegfried laughed heartily, raising his glass to clink with Xi Mu’s.
"But even a dying dragon isn’t easy to deal with. We still need to prepare for a while, at least get the basics of magic squared away first."
"Are you planning to teach me?" Xi Mu sipped his strong drink, his slightly tipsy eyes showing anticipation.
Siegfried chuckled, "As a king, I’m quite busy. How about I arrange a magic academy teacher for you?"
"Sure." Xi Mu readily agreed, although he had absolutely no interest in learning magic; anyhow, the magic he learned would not be more powerful than the Ten Shadow Magics.
However, having a mage as a teacher would make it more convenient to unlock the side story of the Magic Kingdom, helping him join the rebellion to overthrow the Magic Queen.
Even if he didn’t want to kill the Magic Queen, he could defect and help her defeat the rebels.
Either way, he could reap a great deal of experience points.
"Then tomorrow, you’ll meet him." Siegfried smiled, "He’s a talentless guy, but it’s precisely because he lacks talent that he has delved deeply into the basics of magic."
In his words, a hint of nonchalance could be detected.
"He’s adequate for brushing up your basic magic. If you’re dissatisfied, you can replace him anytime." 𝕗𝐫𝐞𝕖𝕨𝐞𝗯𝚗𝕠𝘃𝐞𝚕.𝐜𝗼𝚖

The next day.
Within the castle courtyard.
Xi Mu met the magic teacher, a man wearing somewhat outdated magic robes, bald-headed and with a tense expression, not at all the authoritative type expected of a teacher, instead, he appeared rather meek... almost like a servant, his slightly hunched posture suggesting a complete lack of aggressiveness.
Embarrassing... no, a guy both lacking in self-esteem and confidence.
"Hello, I am your magic teacher, Buchi." The man tried to puff up his chest a bit, but upon encountering Xi Mu’s calm gaze, he shrank back again.
"From now on, I’ll be responsible for instructing you in magic."
"Understood, teacher." Xi Mu responded casually, seeing that Buchi seemed much relieved by his easygoing student.
He took a deep breath.
"Do you know about the... utilization rate of magic power?"
"I don’t." Xi Mu shook his head, glancing briefly at the red-haired princess under a nearby tree, then calmly withdrew his gaze.
Buchi smiled, his demeanor much more confident, and pointed at a flower beside him: "Though every mage possesses magic power, the use of it varies greatly. The more powerful the mage, the stronger their utilization rate of magic power."
As he spoke, he channeled magic power from his fingertip, directly obliterating the flower with minimal use of magic power.
"In learning magic, it’s important to understand what magic power is."
