Chapter 64: Chapter 64: Queen of Dragon

Brand felt the air grow heavy as if a storm was about to burst. The Wyrm was looking at him closely. Bloodlust emitted from it, spreading across the space like wildfire.

The once pure white scales had turned crimson in an instant. At that moment, Brand felt a rush of killing intent wash over his face. He even wavered, unable to find stability in his footing.

After a short period of the bombardment of killing intent, the Wyrm had cooled down and retrieved its aura. But he was still not recovered from the earlier display of power.

’Not terrible at all. Mental fortitude is extraordinary. You must have a terrible time under the woman’s care.’

The words struck him. He did not need further evidence. The woman that the Wyrm spoke of was Seraphim. But from the way it spoke, it was as if they were acquaintances.

’How did the Wyrm know Seraphim?’

’Seraphine told me before, Seraphim can’t manifest in the world because it would consume the World’s Karma with only her existence.’

He thought they might have met before, but not in this world.

His concern now was that the Wyrm was looking at him intensely, as if it were trying to pick up his scent. The Wyrm’s head was leaning to him closely.

The Wyrm then speaks.

’You had the minimum requirements. Very well.’

Only after then did he feel the pressure lifted, that he could breathe freely again. While he was still gasping for breath, the Wyrm was moving across the vast dimension.

The still black lake was disturbed by its movement, forming a strong current flow. The waves pulled him over, and there was nothing he could do but ride along with them.

When the lake calmed down after the tides, he pushed himself up and floated above the lake. He felt his mind torn, as what he experienced here likely affected him directly rather than hurting him physically.

When he checked on the surroundings, the Wyrm was nowhere to be seen, and everywhere was shrouded in white mist. When he looked closely, he saw a human silhouette instead of the Wyrm’s.

A woman with long white hair, wearing elegant silk robes embroidered with a dragon-scales pattern, was floating in the sky above. Her eyes, which appeared indifferent, were looking down at the lake below. She then locked her eyes on him and smiled.

With a wave of her sleeve, Brand was pulled up, flying in the air, and had his position fixed in the middle of the air.

The woman, using telekinesis, pulled him closer and studied him. Their chest almost touch each other. Brand could even feel her breath at such a close distance, and couldn’t help but stare at he voluptuous breast.

"What do you think?" She whispered, her breath exhaling in his ears. Her tone was sharp, almost challenging. "Appraise me, mortal? Compare to the bird-wing woman."

"..." He couldn’t find himself responding to the woman’s question, even though he knew who she was referring to.

"I had never met her in person before... Seraphim..." He mustered his strength to speak. He needed to find ways to escape further strain on his mind.

’Maybe raising INT could help me resist mental attacks better?’ He shouldn’t save too many stat points unused... though he was not sure if it would matter, with such a wide gap of power...

"I see..." The woman’s expression was devoid of any emotion, and she flung Brand back to the black lake.

"Anyway... I need your help." The woman spoke. "Find the other four worm statues across the ruin."

"Sure... But I have one request..."

"Speak."

"What’s your name?" Brand asked, knowing her name would be it for now.

"Ho..." She seemed intrigued. Was it because of his boldness?

After awhile, she spoke.

"Wyona. The queen of dragons." Her voice carried a magnificent aura, sending ripples across the black lake.

’Wyona...’ He repeated the name in his mind while standing up, thinking that he should return to the ruin. He even agreed to the request without asking for compensation or reward.

"Before you go, take this." She sent him a black orb. It looked as if it could absorb any light it came into contact with.

"Consider this your advance payment." She grinned while her existence faded into the air. The space around them collapsed.

Before his consciousness completely faded, he saw the black orb seep into him.

When he opened his eyes again, he found himself back in the ruin. Ruby was looking at him, forehead touching forehead.

He jolted up, knocking her forehead in the way, but he was looking for her... The little angel guide, Seraphim.

"Seraphine!" His voice was full of concern and urgency. The only thing on his mind was to ask Seraphine about the woman in the dimensional space earlier.

"How’s it?" Seraphine was grinning while checking on him from behind. From her expression, Brand guessed that the little angel must have known what might happen after he touched the worm statue.

Before he could voice out his concern to Seraphine, the System’s notification rang in his mind.

[Mission Complete: Continuation Mission Updated.]

[Reward: +15 Karma Point]

[78/150 to Level 3]

[New Mission: Collect the four scattered Worm Statues across the Ruin of Worm.]

Things had been becoming more complicated. What he thought to be a quick exploration around the ruin had repeatedly led to new missions coming in.

’At this rate, when would we be able to return to the village?’ 𝐟𝚛𝕖𝚎𝕨𝗲𝐛𝚗𝐨𝐯𝐞𝕝.𝐜𝗼𝗺

He grabbed Seraphine in the air. However, his hand had just phased through her body.

"There was a woman... no... a dragon!" He started withthe conversation by talking about what he had experienced in the dimensional pocket space. "She called herself Wyona."

Brand was half expecting Seraphine to narrate what she knew about Wyona, which seemed to show a demeanor that she was of the same level as Seraphim.

However, what Serpahine said next surprised him.

"No need to care that b*tch much." Seraphine shrugged. "She was just trying to act strong, no worries. She was sealed."

His mouth gaped open at Seraphine’s nonchalant attitude...
