Chapter 207: 207-Arguing Like A Married Couple

Iris:

"Yeah, I came here to grab the rest of my stuff. Don’t worry, I’ll be out of your hair in no time," Kash replied flatly, and my posture began to weaken.

I unfolded my arms and clasped my fingers together, gently fidgeting with them.

"I need to speak with you about something," I uttered.

I did not know why I suddenly thought I needed his help to figure out what Luca was up to, but the thought disgusted me.

It felt like I wanted Kash’s attention back on me. I needed it subconsciously, yet physically, I had no control over my tongue.

"Uh, later. I have to get ready for the lunch," Kash responded, sounding even more distant as he pulled clothes from the closet and tossed them onto the bed.

He then called for a maid to collect them.

He was really moving out.

"It’s strange that today we’re all sitting together like this," Lara remarked as she broke the silence and began to speak.

For the first few minutes, we had all been eating quietly. I did not want to say this, I really did not want to say it, but Zoe and her mother had seriously prepared a very nice evening.

I could not have imagined that they would handle a dinner for my family so well.

And the way Lady Vivian met my father never once made it feel as if she was a bitter woman or that she disliked me.

By the time Lara came downstairs after getting ready, I realized that the relationship between Lara, Lady Vivian, and Zoe was not good.

Somewhere along the way, it started to feel like maybe all of this was not being done for my sake, but to put Lara down.

Maybe this mother and daughter wanted to show Lara that if she did not take their side, they would all turn toward me.

Whatever it was, at least my father was very happy, and my children were enjoying themselves a lot. The only problem was between Luca and Kash.

Ever since we sat down for dinner, Kash kept throwing very harsh looks at Luca, and Luca kept doing the same.

As for me, my eyes kept drifting back to Luca because I wanted to know if he was the one James had been speaking to on the call a few hours earlier.

"Last time, we were in my pack, right? But Iris’s father wasn’t there then. Her mother was with us," Lara remarked, bringing up the same topic again. "And I’m just surprised that I didn’t know Iris had a brother, and that she belongs to the East pack. Iris had said she was rogue, didn’t she?"

I knew many people were confused about this. No one knew exactly what had happened in the East.

No one had the courage to speak openly about Kash. Since Kash had kept Lara’s father’s warriors stationed at the border and did not bring them inside, they only knew that I was the sister of an omega from the East and that he had forced my marriage.

There was very little information about ranks, which was why she had been taunting me for so long, first saying I was rogue and then finding out I was an omega.

Many times, I had even seen her laugh at me.

"Yes, the last time you took us to that sketchy club," Luca interrupted, changing the topic.

At that, only Lara started laughing loudly.

"And you were the first one to pass out at that club," she added.

"If you can’t drink that much, then why did you?" Lara joked.

Luca rolled his eyes at her.

"Let’s eat quietly. This lunch is for Uncle Matthew, and he is sitting here quietly. It doesn’t look good if we talk about stuff he is not included in," Kash stepped in quickly and shut them both up.

"James, you wanted a job, so I thought I’d brief you on a few things. If you want, you can work there," Kash continued, speaking directly to James.

I noticed the way Luca’s fork paused in his hand, his movements became hesitant. There was some tension between Luca and his father.

Through all of this, Zoe finally got the chance to spend time with my children, and my children were always happy around her.

When dinner ended, both of them grabbed Zoe’s hand and pulled her toward the TV to play video games with them.

Zoe kept looking at me again and again, as if asking for permission. I did not know who she was trying to show that she would never do anything without my approval.

In the end, I had to gesture to her, almost like a hand signal, telling her that it was fine and that she could play with them.

After a while, when they were busy playing, only my father, Kash, and James were left at the table. Luca had gone outside to smoke, at least that much I knew.

"Since I also have a good amount of wealth here, and I am a co-owner of a brand, we can afford a separate house. We do not need to stay here in the guest house." I spoke to my father directly, but I had already caught Kash’s attention.

"What are you talking about, Iris?" Kash asked me in a very firm voice.

"What you heard. You are married again, and I do not want to live here as your second wife. I have my own life and my own decisions, and they should be respected," I argued with Kash.

My father and James started watching us, clearly uncomfortable.

"The thing is, I know my father will not like us staying here under your responsibility, so let us live somewhere else. I want to live my life my own way," I said to Kash, keeping my voice firm so he would understand that if he could make decisions for himself, then I could make decisions for myself too.

"You’re just angry because of what happened last night. There’s nothing else," Kash replied, shocking my father and James at the mention of something too personal.
