Angel Monarch-Chapter 528: Fleshed Out Plan
The shadows continued consuming Dionysus's dead body. Sera took a sigh of relief as the primordial god died.
Her necklace began glowing, and soon it expanded all over her body. Vines grew across her naked, shadow-covered skin. Glowing golden flowers grew from them until Sera's usual dress appeared, while Faith's shadows disappeared.
Bea stepped up beside Sera, wearing her usual blood-red dress. She reached over and touched the Angel's shoulder, while a gentle green glow appeared at her fingertips.
Sera stared into the magnificent woman's eyes as she healed the drug from her partner's system. A moment later, she felt the restriction on her Essence flow melt away. Warmth danced across Sera's body as she took a deep, pleasant breath.
"Thank you, Bea... I really hate that feeling..." she whispered while a shiver ran through her body.
A light giggle escaped Bea's lips as she reluctantly released Sera's shoulder. Afterward, they both glanced towards Faith, still pulling every droplet of blood into her shadows.
"Anyway... Uh... How much do you remember from the night?" asked Sera, with a heavy blush brightening her expression.
Bea didn't glance in her direction, but a wide, joyous smile still stretched across her face.
"Nothing, which makes this a shitty date! I expect better from such a powerful being!" she declared in faked anger and hidden excitement.
The Angel reached across Bea's shoulder. The magnificent woman leaned into the arm, placing her head near Sera's own.
"I know this wasn't great, but technically they drugged us. Don't worry though. Before the tournament, we'll have a proper date! Something you'll never forget, like the one you gave me!"
A wide grin spread across Bea's face as she batted her lashes at Sera. She leaned closer and gave a small peck to the Angel's pale cheek.
"I'll hold you to that promise," she whispered into her partner's ear, her warmth breath causing impure thoughts to pop into Sera's mind. "But for now, let's address the chaos junkie in the room!"
With that, both women turned towards the tall, lanky man who stood near the room's sole doorway. He wore a fancy dark green suit, which brought attention to his handsome face, scarred lips and long blonde hair.
The Elf lady who led them into the club last night stood beside the primordial god. She changed out of her elegant dress and instead into a leather garb, which stuck close to her slim, athletic body.
"That was rude. I'm not a chaos junkie, just someone who enjoys tricking people into causing chaos! It's an addiction of mine, and I don't appreciate the ridicule!"
Sera and Bea both rolled their eyes at Loki's faked outrage, just as the last bits of Dionysus disappeared. The trickster god's eyes went wide with a mix of curiosity and excitement.
"Oh, you've already destroyed the toy I gave you. Marvelous!... I would've loved seeing a Shadow tear apart such an annoying critter, but the results are all that counts!"
"What do you mean 'toy'? I thought he'd captured me or something. Also, what are you doing here, Loki?" asked Sera while crossing her arms, while Faith returned to her shadow.
Loki tilted his head in confusion. He then started laughing, and while glancing down at the Elf, he pointed towards Sera.
"Isn't she hilarious, Erina? Poor gal didn't even realize whose establishment she'd ruined last night!"
Erina, the Elf lady, gave her boss a mere smirk, then turned back towards the two women, watching their every movement with careful eyes. Upon seeing this reaction, Loki rolled his eyes.
"Look at this, Ms. Seraphine," said Loki from right beside the Angel, with his arm around her shoulder.
Sera yelped in surprise, but Loki's arm was firm, so she couldn't move away without a struggle. However, before she could've pushed him off, the trickster god let go and pointed at his bodyguard.
"See how boring she's! Oh, why did I hire someone so lackluster with facial expressions and body language! I want someone who can laugh at my jokes and enjoy watching the chaos unfold... Life's truly cruel!"
Bea growled in annoyance as Loki's arm reappeared on Sera's shoulder. He used some tricks to move unnoticed, which made it seem as if he's teleporting between people.
"Anyway, Young Lady. Let me answer your previous questions... Dionysus was my old party friend from before our time in the Pocket Realms. However, while he believed we were friends, I just used him to cause chaos. In fact, I hated his guts, but never found a good reason to kill him...
"He was No Tomorrow's alcohol supplier, which provided me a great opportunity to eliminate him. I heard from reliable sources that you want to kill everyone in the Greek Pantheon, and since I wanted Dionysus gone... It's a win-win situation!"
Loki took another step and appeared back at Erina's side. He made an elaborate deep bow, with one arm held to the side and the other kept close to his chest.
"That's everything you need to know," he said after straightening his suit. Afterward, he turned towards the door and waved to the two women.
"I'm sorry, but I don't have any more time to chat. I still need to clean and rebuild your destruction from yesterday. I also need to find another alcohol supplier..."
He gave a final glance to Erina. He gestured with his head towards Sera and Bea, then left the room.
The Elf lady led the women outside through a service exit into an alley, which bordered the club. She then left without a word, returning to No Tomorrow's dark depths.
The alley became absolutely silent as Sera and Bea were left alone. They both yawned with exhaustion, while their stomachs began rumbling, but they didn't have time to sleep or drink.
It was an hour before noon when Sera landed near the castle's entrance. Bea also grew out of the golden petal dress, appearing by the Angel's side.
The guards bowed their heads respectfully, but since Valkyries were much taller, both women saw the smiles stretching across their faces. Their massive bodies shook as they tried holding their laughter.
It seemed the news of Sera and Bea's insane night had already spread through Asgard like wildfire. They both basically ran up the entire castle to escape the mocking or pitying glances.
Eventually, they arrived to the meeting room, where Odin waited for them with a grumpy expression. The table was set full of delicious food, and after a quick lecture from the old geezer, they began eating breakfast/lunch.
For the next few hours, they talked through their future plans. There were lots of details needing fleshing out, and they didn't plan on leaving this room until they had discussed everything.
First, they spoke about the arena's design and invited a few dwarves to draw out architectural plans. Sera will build the entire structure from sturdy Angelic Metal and afterward, Odin will place millions of Runes all over its surface.
Each Rune carries a different meaning, but if you place the same Runes close together, their power amplifies. The Allfather will place about two dozen different Runes, so together they'll carry enough power to uphold Tyr's contracts.
After the dwarves left, it was time for Sera and Bea to meet Tyr, the God of Justice. The bearded middle-aged man stepped inside with a curious expression. He had a muscular, warrior-like build, but his most prominent feature was his missing right hand.
With him, they discussed everything about the contracts, then wrote up a few on regular paper. These didn't carry any power, but they'll serve as templates later on.
An hour later, Tyr left to refine the writing until it reached perfection in his eyes.
The discussion with Tyr tired out all three individuals, so they took a break to eat dinner before continuing.
When everyone ate their fill and regained enough mental energy to proceed, it was time to discuss the most important part of their plan... How to cheat!
Even Faith joined in this conversation, since she's their greatest weapon at cheating. Her abilities can be easily hidden, and neither the Runes nor Tyr will restrict her interference.
Their second-best cheater was Bea, since she could assume smaller forms, like a simple necklace. However, her power wouldn't decrease based on the form, so she could heal any contestant and could even revive them after an unforeseen death.
There was only one problem... She wasn't powerful enough yet, so Odin had a crazy suggestion that might actually work!
Other than Bea and Faith, they couldn't do any other cheating without making it too obvious. Odin will leave a few small loopholes in the Rune structure, but they'll only serve as emergency escapes if winning becomes impossible.
Night had fallen again by the time they ended the discussion. Afterward, Odin and both women raised their tankards full of tasty, golden mead and toasted to the creation of their plan.
They didn't tell Loki about his part in the tournament, because he might ruin everything by spreading the news to other factions too soon. His need for chaos is too overwhelming to follow a plan perfectly, so Odin will tell him his part when all the contracts, arena and cheating measures are ready.
For now, Sera and Bea retired to their room. They hit the giant bed and, upon closing their eyes, they fell asleep immediately as exhaustion overwhelmed them.
The next day, they said their goodbyes to Odin, and left Asgard behind. Back in New Athens, they informed everyone about the tournament and its details.
Soon the preparations finally began!
