Chapter 2 - You Can't Go Back

In a world where swords, magic, beasts, demons, legendary treasures, and adventurers exist, heroes battle against the unending evil forces of the Demon King.

In this world, the Demon King had already conquered half of the entire realm and was still expanding his powerful domain.

He was so strong that no individual nor party could defeat him, leaving humans with no choice but to await their inevitable fate—conquest by the Demon King and his army.

Desperate for a way to stop him, the leaders of this world prayed earnestly to the gods, seeking support and guidance.

Thankfully, the gods answered their pleas, granting them a skill that would allow them to summon a hero from another world.

---

[Royal Palace – Summoning Chamber]

"It is time. We must use the summoning spell to bring us our hero," one of the kings at the high table declared with a solemn expression.

The eight other kings nodded in agreement and immediately stood, making their way to the summoning chamber.

Inside, they took their respective thrones and signaled for the mages to begin the spell.

The ritual was so powerful that it required fifty archmages to perform.

Standing in a circle, the mages began chanting in an ancient language. As their voices echoed through the chamber, a massive magic circle illuminated beneath their feet.

Then, at the final incantation—

"DEVAMESCARGO!!"

Boom!

A pillar of light shot up from the magic circle and pierced the sky. It was so bright that the kings had to shield their eyes to avoid being blinded.

---

[Demonic Territory]

The Demon King sat upon his dark throne, a calm expression on his face. However, when he saw the bright light splitting the sky, his lips curled into a smirk.

"So, those old fools have finally summoned a hero. Interesting... Looks like I won't be the only one from "that" world anymore. Hehehe... I guess the game has truly begun."

---

[Beast Kingdom]

The ferocious Dragon King gazed at the sky, his golden eyes reflecting the light.

"How desperate the humans have become," he mused, amusement evident in his voice.

Then, his gaze darkened.

"At the end of the day, the Master will always win. Bring me my daughter, Alia."

---

[God Realm]

The God of Creation looked down at the mortal world, his expression unreadable.

"All gods, assemble. We have a score to settle with that wretched Tamer."

---

As the light in the sky slowly faded, five figures suddenly descended from above.

"Aaaahhhh!!"

Bang!

They crashed into the ground with force, yelling in pain. Yet, to their shock, they were completely unharmed. Not even a scratch, despite falling from an unfathomable height—definitely over a thousand feet.

"Ahg! Get off me!" Yuji groaned, aggressively pushing Kenji, who had landed on top of him.

"Where... are we?" Mayumi muttered warily as she scanned her surroundings.

As they stood up and took in their environment, their eyes widened in disbelief.

They were no longer in their office.

Instead, they stood inside a grand palace, surrounded by unfamiliar people dressed in strange, elegant robes.

Yuji immediately took a defensive stance.

"Who are you people?!" he demanded, his muscles tensed, ready to fight.

The central king, seated among the others, smiled at the confused newcomers.

"Welcome, great heroes," he said as he rose from his throne. The other kings followed suit.

Kenji narrowed his eyes. "Who are you? And where the hell are we?"

The king chuckled softly. "My friends, I understand this situation must be overwhelming, but I assure you, we mean no harm. We only wish to speak with you."

Despite the king's gentle demeanor, the summoned group remained wary, their instincts screaming at them to stay on guard.

Noticing their distrust, the king decided to explain.

He told them everything—about the Demon King, the war, and the reason for their summoning.

Once he finished, he eagerly awaited their response.

A brief silence followed.

Then—

"Pfft! Hahahahaha!"

They all burst into laughter, even Kenji, who was usually reserved.

"Swords and magic? Demon kings? Haha!" Yuji laughed hysterically. "What next? A unicorn that sh*ts rainbows and candy?!"

The entire group laughed as if they had just heard the most ridiculous joke in history.

The king, unfazed, merely smiled.

"I expected as much. Words alone wouldn't be enough to convince you. You must see it for yourselves—seeing is believing, after all."

With a nod, he signaled one of the mages to demonstrate.

The mage calmly stepped forward, raising his hand. A faint glow enveloped his palm, and within moments—

Whoosh!

A small fireball flickered to life, dancing effortlessly in his hand.

The moment they saw the flames, the group fell silent.

Their laughter died. Their faces paled.

Yuji gulped. "Guys... either we're all having the same dream, or that man just conjured a freaking fireball."

Their expressions were priceless.

The king raised his chin slightly, a proud smile on his face.

"Great heroes, you have been summoned to save this world from the Demon King. Please, accept our request."

The group exchanged uneasy glances, hesitating as they processed everything.

However, before they could even consider their next move, the king spoke again.

"And even if you don't accept..." His voice dropped slightly, carrying a weight that sent chills down their spines.

"...I don't think you have much of a choice—considering the fact that you can't go back."

The moment those words left his mouth, it felt like a hammer had slammed into their hearts.

Their eyes widened in horror.

"What do you mean we can't go back?!"
