Antihero In the Hero Academy: I Can Connect the Past Heroes-Chapter 135: Angel (1)
Chapter 135: Angel (1)
While the duo was trying to figure out what was happening, Atlas regained his consciousness and received a message saying, [Are you okay?]
This message was from Nyx.
"I’m fine, my lady, the dreams seem to have affected me greatly," Atlas said calmly, and then turned to the soldiers around him and shouted, "WATCH EVERY SINGLE BUILDING, EVERY PERSON WITH NEGATIVE KARMA WILL BE ARRESTED AND TRIALED!"
Immediately after that, he frowned and said, "They will pay. For everything they have done." He then turned to the group of eleven and said, "Stick together and when you get to the royal palace, tell the knights that you are under my command. They will take good care of you."
Emma was already on the move, she had to catch up with him, as his lord he could not leave the young woman alone.
Atlas had left the kingdom’s capital with a large number of people, so many that he would have to initiate a check with the arrival of more troops and more troops following him as he moved from region to region.
He was followed by almost three thousand soldiers. Of the total number of troops in the capital, every single soldier, except for the special knights of the royal family and the mages who had been ordered to return immediately, had followed him.
In short, every single member of the army in the royal capital was currently at Atlas’ disposal. The army, which exceeded three thousand people in small numbers, continued to advance step by step.
It was easy to see Emma and the mage troops behind her passing through this area. In the surrounding villages, it was possible to see smiling villagers and hunters with happy expressions.
Those who saw Atlas and the huge army behind him were filled with great hope, and Atlas left hundreds of soldiers in each village and settlement they passed, just in case, just to protect that area.
Atlas had already begun to create a bond that could follow Atlas at any moment. It was a strange point full of complexities and zigzags. The location of the kingdom and the regions around it that were under its rule and dependent on the kingdom had such a perfect strategic position that it was quite normal that even the villages themselves had huge regions that could protect themselves.
This is precisely why the soldiers left behind by Atlas were at an important point. After all, these soldiers were citizens of this country, and the vast majority of them had become attached to the kingdom as soldiers from these villages, which could almost be called large towns.
This strategic positioning and this different geography with a warm climate covered with mountains were enough to explain why the angel worshippers wanted to take over this place. It was a region that, together with their own cultivation and deep brainwashing abilities, would probably help them to want to keep everything under control and to achieve this.
Unless a Sage or perhaps an Aura-Master set foot directly in this location, no one would ever, ever be able to take over this region.
This was enough to explain how the Kingdom of Akairon had fallen into such a bad situation after its establishment, yet it had not yet been captured.
Narrow advancement zones that would allow only a hundred people to pass through at a time. Terrains covered with deep, flowing rivers and more.
It was an incredible geography.
In all these thoughts, Atlas continued to move forward and after leaving almost 1500 soldiers in 13 villages, he finally managed to reach Emma and the mage troop that went with her, along with the 1500-odd soldiers left under his command.
"My lord," Emma said.
"Well done." he had responded, that Atlas was indeed incredibly proud of Emma.
Looking around, he could see dozens of angel-worshipping corpses.
One thing was extra, though. There was this feeling he hadn’t seen in a long time and it was putting him under incredible pressure.
He knew something was watching him and it was neither a god nor a goddess.
It was something more malevolent.
He turned towards the soldiers and then shouted for everyone to hear him:
"LOOK AROUND, CHECK EVERYWHERE! NOW!!!"
As soon as Atlas’ orders were heard, the army of over 1,500 men mobilised instantly and began to carry out the orders as quickly as possible.
After a short time, information that Atlas did not want to hear began to come to his ears:
"My lord, we have found statues of what appear to be angels, some of them are broken, but they appear to be arranged in a formation."
When Emma relayed this information to Atlas, his heart stopped for a second.
Summoning demons unnaturally and without the presence of a main gate would require someone’s life and an incredible amount of mana. Summoning angels without their main gate was a different story.
There were certain methods. Unlike summoning demons, it would be possible to say that there were dozens of methods.
The most complex, but also the easiest, was to create angel statues.
The reason why this method was so complicated was that each statue had to reflect the emotions and personality of the angel to be summoned as much as possible. Therefore, dozens of statues were created in the image of the angel to be summoned, and in a formation that the angel was summoned to earth.
"DESTROY ALL THE STATUTES! IT’S A TRAP!!!" shouted Atlas, but in vain, it was too late to destroy the statutes...they were working with mana already.
By the time he realised this, he had brought an army of over 1500 people here, into the trap with his own hands.
Suddenly light began to overflow from the points where the statues were. The formation began to work.
Atlas immediately turned to Emma and then gave a firm order, "Get everyone out of here, now."
"What about you, my lord?" Emma couldn’t help but ask with great confusion.
"Just go. That’s an order," Atlas replied.
With a great deal of stress, Emma managed to get out of the formation, which had begun to close, taking the surrounding army members with her.
A barrier, a formation spell, covering perhaps ten kilometres.
That pure black magic coming out of the statues began to increase gradually. The exponentially increasing black magic energy soon managed to fully activate the formation and the barrier was completed.
However, each of the lights rising from the statues began to merge.
Atlas now knew that there was no way he could break the statues. For who knows how many years, mana had been continuously transferred to the statues.
It was such a heavy feeling that it would not be normal to describe it exactly. It was just an incredibly oppressive feeling that made it impossible to even breathe.
Still, Atlas was hopeful. He realised that in a reality where the main gate did not exist, the upper and even middle and lower angels could not be summoned.
This meant that the angel that would emerge from this summoning formation would be an angel of the lowest, lowest level. Just like the devil summoned in Herria City.
And that was a good thing. The only reason it was good was because Atlas was capable of killing such a weak angel on his own.
It would be difficult, but not impossible. That’s why his hope was incredibly high.
He took a deep breath and then took his holy sword out of his inventory and put on the Blessed’s Robe just in case.
He was not afraid.
He only had a type of thought in his mind as if he did not understand and such an image on his face.
He did not care if this kingdom was destroyed if every single person in it died. He had taken an oath that he would never help anyone, especially humanity, but what was he doing now? He was trying to jeopardise his own life because of an angel.
Since when had he reverted to his old, pathetic self?
These questions kept going round and round in his mind and he kept questioning himself.
As the dark magic and the energy it emitted became more and more intense, a ball of light formed on the earth in the centre of the region.
With that, a claw poked out hard from inside that ball, and immediately after that, an eye began to follow Atlas directly.
"I did not expect to meet you so soon. We are lucky, we will be able to eliminate our greatest enemy directly." said the being coming out of the ball of light. It was an angel, of course.
"Do you think you can kill me?" questioned Atlas. He was trying to buy himself time by provoking as much as possible.
"Of course, I do, a despicable human being, a powerless child who doesn’t know his mother and father. It’s a pity if only you were an angel worshipper, we could give you a good position in the new world we are going to build." the angel muttered.
His wings shone white. His body was getting bigger and bigger.
It was obvious that the larger the bodies of angels and demons, the weaker they were.
And when the angel grew as big as 10 metres, that meant it was the lowest level there could be.
It was winnable.
