Chapter 142: Grand Bath (1)

By the time Cain was in the room with Constantine to report, Atlas had already left the room with Cordelia’s permission.

However, he had managed to make time for himself, and indeed, after two short journeys, showered and cleaned himself up, then finally sat on his bed after feeding himself with the packaged chicken pieces and orange juice he kept in his inventory.

Suddenly it was time to do what he wanted to do. freēnovelkiss.com

He took a deep breath and, remembering what he was going to say to Hermes, opened the system panel of his Hero Connecting ability and found Hermes’ name.

He had no idea how many gods and goddesses this had surprised. Frankly, many gods and goddesses, including Atlas himself, had assumed that he would choose another Chaos-Born, or that this time he would connect with a titan like Chronos.

Still, even in Atlas’ eyes, this plan had to change. He had a tonne of things to ask of Hermes, but the most important one was the one that needed to be done the fastest, and he didn’t know how many people would die if he put it off until later.

After clicking Hermes’ name on the panel and accepting the system message, he was unconscious again in the bed he was lying on.

He managed to open his eyes again and see the bright colours of holiness.

When he managed to focus his eyes, he stood up and then slowly looked around.

He could hear music in the air. Small sounds reached his ears and Atlas walked towards this sound. The music may have been coming from far away in a huge space of dozens of rooms, but each of these sounds was indeed heart-softening and calming.

It might even be fair to say that Atlas was getting sleepy with each step he took. It was as if the music he heard was calming his soul.

Nevertheless, he managed to keep himself spiritually awake and with that, he came to a room. More precisely, it would not make much sense to call it a room. The surroundings were covered with vapours. He could immediately realised that this was a bathroom.

Even stranger, to tell the truth, it was like half a room. Half of the room opened to a unique view and the other half showed the bathroom covered with steam.

It was possible to see dozens of gods and goddesses who were naked. So-called holy way of taking bath in godly realm.

Atlas could see Ares, Artemis and even the Titan Selene among them. It would be correct to say that it was a very strange and embarrassing sight.

Atlas walked through each of them and continued towards the music. It was like some kind of harp. Now that the music was coming much more clearly and accurately to his ears the heat of the vapour in the environment had made his soul incredibly warm.

When he got very close to the music, he saw a naked man with golden hair and eyes, holding a small harp in his hand.

This man was Hermes himself.

Although Atlas wanted to bow down to show his respect, he did not fall enough to bow in front of a naked man and did nothing but say, "The realm of the gods is very strange, sir."

Hermes smiled when he heard these words and then said "So I’ve heard." and put the harp in his hand aside.

The ancient god’s eyes were now locked on Atlas’ eyes.

"I’ve already thought about what I’m going to give you, young man," Hermes said.

Atlas, on the other hand, shook his head left and right as soon as he heard these words, and immediately afterwards he uttered the words "I don’t want anything from you kind sir."

With these words of Atlas, the naked gods and goddesses who were or were not in the bathroom were quite surprised. Any reason why Atlas did not want this could not logically exist in their minds.

"Don’t you want it? Even if I’m not a very powerful god, I’m still one of the twelve most powerful gods in Olympos kid. Is there a reason for this disrespect, young Atlas?’"

Atlas was inwardly frightened when he heard this question from Hermes. He knew Hermes would not harm him, but the strange look on the ancient god’s face and the dark meaning of his smile frightened him inwardly.

Although he knew it wouldn’t happen, he felt like his head would be cut off with one wrong answer.

"Instead, I would like to ask you a favour. Please forget your might for a second and listen to the words of this mortal," Atlas said. He was trying to be as respectful as possible.

Hermes himself was as surprised and curious as the gods and goddesses around with these words.

"Speak up," the ancient god could not help saying, the curiosity in his chest had already begun to overflow.

Atlas knew that his words would be mixed with lies, but he also realised that this was what he had to do. That’s why he gathered his courage took a deep breath and looked Hermes in the eyes, not afraid this time. However, it didn’t take long for him to start talking:

"A dream. I had a dream."

"A dream?"

"Yes, a dream. You may have noticed by now that I have permission from Lady Nyx to use her name. What I see in dreams. If you’ve followed me for any length of time, I’m sure you’ve noticed."

"Go on."

"It was through these dreams that I slaughtered every one of the demon worshippers at the academy. That’s how I freed the slaves of Herria City. That’s how I recognised Arthur and Helena. And that’s how I learnt of the portal in the World Tree."

With each word he spoke, another god or goddess emerged from the bathroom and gathered behind him.

It was obvious from their looks that each of them was very, very curious. Still, it would be fair to say that Atlas was disturbed by what he saw in his eyes, that is when he looked in all directions...
