Chapter 59: Setting the Game

Axir entered Jason’s house with light footsteps, enough to alert Kohana that someone had just entered.

She turned around, and Axir greeted her promptly with a small bow.

"Hello, Miss Kohana."

"A-Axir-kun?" Kohana was surprised and quickly greeted him before asking with a smile, "What brings you here, Axir-kun?"

Axir sighed in response, lightly shaking his head. "Let’s sit first. The news is... bad."

Axir took out a table and chairs from his Inventory.

Kohana was startled and nodded. "Okay... what is this news about?"

Axir sat down.

Advanced Mana Technique—Memory Projection.

Axir’s eyes flickered before he stretched his hand toward Kohana. "Touch my hand, so I can show it to you. It’s about your husband."

Kohana frowned. She sat down and touched Axir’s hand.

Instantly, a movie began playing in her mind.

Axir was showing a part of his memory to Kohana.

"T-This..." Kohana’s eyes trembled.

The first thing she saw was a naked girl from her neighborhood, Yoruko, lying on the ground.

Then the view moved, showing her husband naked with a perverted grin on his face, touching himself.

Then he jumped, intending to pounce on Yoruko and start his act.

But midway, he was stopped by an invisible force.

Axir arrived before him.

And then things turned black.

Kohana blinked as her vision cleared, showing Axir sitting across from her.

Seeing her eyes trembling as she looked at him, Axir nodded. "That’s why he escaped. I wanted to capture him, but he escaped using a card. He got a deck from a devil that allows him to control people."

Kohana covered her face with her hands. "No wonder he managed to convince Akira-san. Our family had some fights with them in the past, so we didn’t interact with each other."

"Yes. He was about to ravage her and her daughter as well. But he escaped, and I also took those three to a different settlement to start anew."

Kohana’s tears fell as she looked at Axir. "He r-really sided with the devil?"

Axir wryly smiled. "I have no reason to lie to you. In fact, I was also approached by a devil. And I assure you, many people would accept a devil’s hand to get strong. Greed, envy, pride, wrath, and lust. People not controlling themselves from these five vices in the current world will become perfect tools for devils."

"After raping Yoruko, he was about to sacrifice her, as that is the price he must pay to keep the deck he acquired. According to what I found, you can keep a deck as it is for one sacrifice per week. If you sacrifice one person every day for a week, your deck can get an upgrade."

Kohana gasped, eyes red and shaking, tears not stopping. The betrayal was piercing.

She was a worshipper of gods, and her husband turned out to be a tool of devils.

"W-Wait, did Jason know about this?" Kohana quickly asked, her eyes desperate.

"No." Axir shook his head. "He didn’t know anything about that, though he listened to his father and dug that underground chamber with Yuta and Kazuo."

Relief appeared in Kohana’s eyes. "So Jason didn’t know... if he knew and hid it..."

Shaking her head, she wiped her tears away, her resolve igniting anew. "I will pay the price."

"Hmm?" Axir blinked.

"Thank you for showing me the truth, Axir-kun." Kohana clenched her fist. "I will do severe penance and do everything to please and impress my gods."

"Then I will find Entond and kill him myself."

...

Axir left the house feeling pleased and walked through the village while heading toward his mansion.

’The seed has sprouted. Miss Kohana, you are the only good person, so I won’t inflict pain on you. But your son is a piece of trash who would accept a devil as his father. And your daughter is someone who will help a devil if it benefits her.’

Axir grinned. ’Get a boon from god fast, Miss Kohana. Then we can punish your children together.’

Axir couldn’t wait to make love with Kohana and show everything to Jason.

’Let me see where those three idiots are.’

Axir opened Mana Field and found the three houses at another corner of the village.

’Oh?’ Axir was surprised. But he laughed. ’Wait, are they trying to please gods and acquire a boon?’

’Good luck with that, morons.’

...

Axir returned to the mansion and met Aunt Kira in the garden on the fourth floor.

Mio, Selena, Lexi, and Aoi were meditating.

Aunt Kira was resting, as she needed it after experiencing the ancient ground, and the garden was the best place due to the fresh air, the naturally pleasant smell of flowers, and the overall atmosphere.

She was lying on the grass facing the sky with her eyes closed.

After Axir arrived, both of them sat at a table.

"Aunt, did you check your room? The top floor has eight rooms in total. Two are empty, and the others are assigned. I doubt Siddha and the others would stay in the mansion since they would prefer to build their own places for solitude training now that the secret Himalayan valley is gone and the gods have arrived."

"Oh yes, I checked the room. It’s so beautiful. Mio told me you made the mansion in an hour?" Aunt Kira wryly smiled. "How exactly? There’s so much variety in materials and design."

Axir laughed lightly. "That’s easy. I just used magic science. Using flame, I can melt resources, mix them, and build this. As for this mansion’s hue and why its material looks like that, it’s because it’s made from Prime-2 ore."

"Oh. No wonder it’s so tough. I was afraid the walls might break with my current strength since we leveled up so much, but nothing happened when I fell on the floor here."

Axir nodded, grinning. "Anyway, show me your new deck. Let’s see what you cooked."

Aunt Kira chuckled. "Here."

She shared the deck’s information with Axir.
