Apocalyptic World: Surviving with my husband and my cute little babies-Chapter 156: Baby needs rest
Chapter 156: Baby needs rest
"They have been in the room without responding to us," Grandpa Ford explained worriedly to Elena.
They wanted to inform them that the space was now accessible, so they knocked repeatedly.
Unfortunately, there was no response, and barging in might disrupt the operation, so they waited patiently.
Upon hearing this, she felt relieved; her earlier fears of something terrible happening faded.
It turned out they were simply worried, which is why their expressions were a bit tense.
"But there’s still no news, right? I should go check inside," Elena suggested, ready to use her space ability.
"Yes, they have been there for thirty minutes now," Grandpa Caldwell sighed and continued.
"By the way, how are you and the baby?" he asked with concern, even though she looked fine. He still wanted to know about their condition.
"We’re fine, Grandpa. The baby is doing well, so there’s no need to worry."
Everyone’s tense expressions relaxed, knowing that Elena and the upcoming baby were doing well.
A renewed sense of hope filled the room, assuring them that everything would be fine.
With that, Elena first handed the modified well water to Oslo and Xander before entering the makeshift operating room.
Since they were injured and waiting for their turn in the operation, it could help alleviate their pain.
"Xander and Oslo, go inside the Paradise while waiting for Aunt Liza, and try soaking in the Eastern Lake; it might yield unexpected results."
"Alright, thank you, sister-in-law," they replied, wincing from their discomfort.
Uncle Anthony followed along with Butler Aki to assist them, and soon they vanished into the unit, entering the space.
The kids watched eagerly, but without instructions from the adults, they waited patiently.
Elena noticed their cute, eager expressions and encouraged them, "Poochi misses you. Go inside."
Little Mia exclaimed, "Yay, you’re the best, Sis Ewe!"
They quickly followed her instructions and entered the space, making the unit feel emptier.
Looking at the people left behind, Jessa passed out, and Andrei paced back and forth with worry.
She quickly consoled him.
"Stop, you’re making me dizzy. I will check on your dad’s situation now."
"Thank you, Sis Ele."
"Grandpa, I will enter now covertly so they won’t be startled when I appear," Elena informed them.
Everyone who heard her was confused about how she would enter, but then they saw her vanish.
Elena used her skill, [Blink], to teleport into the room.
Upon seeing Aunt Liza and the others focused intently on the operation, she chose not to interrupt and patiently waited until they were done.
Minutes passed, and soon they completed the surgery on several parts.
"This will be enough; quickly use the well water," Aunt Liza instructed Lydia.
But before she could proceed, Elena walked over and handed her the modified well water.
"Use this one instead."
"Elena, you’re back!"
"Yes, Aunt. How is the situation?"
"He’s stable, but there is still much to do."
"Then let me transfer you to Paradise Hospital to continue there."
"Alright, I appreciate that," Aunt Liza replied, knowing they weren’t done with the other injured parts.
It would be best to finish in a facility with complete equipment.
With a wave of her hands, Elena vanished with them and appeared inside the operating room at Paradise Hospital.
"Aunt, is there anything you need?"
"We’re fine. We’re going to continue now."
"Then I will wait for the good news."
Elena then exited the space and informed the others about the situation.
They sighed with relief, especially Andrei, eager to enter the space and wait for his dad.
Left behind, Elena felt a moment of serenity while reflecting on the disasters and struggles they had faced.
Despite the dangers, they stood victorious. Now that the ice age had returned, she vowed to do better in this life.
In her past, when the cold arrived, she and Ethan had struggled with supplies. With his injury still healing, they needed to ration their food carefully to survive.
Yet, Ethan always insisted that she eat most of their food, never allowing her to feel hungry.
She smiled at the memory; even though life had been hard in her past, with Ethan by her side, she felt that everything would be fine.
The disaster had left humanity helpless, with many perishing and only a few surviving.
People had become deranged, no longer adhering to laws and resorting to unthinkable actions in their struggle for survival.
She sighed while reminiscing about their struggles in her past life.
"Baby, are you cold? Alright, Mom will change the heating equipment inside," Elena murmured, retrieving the heating equipment along with an electric battery and replacing the old ones to avoid overheating.
Once the temperature returned to normal, she decided to head back to the space.
But before she could do so, someone appeared in front of her.
It was none other than her husband, looking frantic.
Seeing Elena glare at him, Ethan knew she was angry.
He couldn’t blame her; it was just that he found it impossible to sleep without being near his wife.
She was like a calming pill to him.
He quickly created an alibi, "Wife, I’m here to fetch you. It’s been hours since you left. The baby needs to rest."
"Heh, now the baby becomes your excuse."
"What do you mean, wife? I was just concerned about you and the baby."
"Alright, stop. Let’s head back now. I told you to rest since you’re injured, but here you are—"
Before she could finish reprimanding him, Ethan kissed her lips, rendering her momentarily speechless.
After the long kiss, Elena was breathless, and Ethan looked at her lovingly.
"I was wrong, okay? We’re both tired today, so let’s sleep together. There are a lot of things to do tomorrow."
She simply nodded, agreeing to his far-fetched excuse.
Afterwards, they entered the space and prepared to rest.
At first, Elena was hesitant to allow her husband near her, considering he was injured and she might inadvertently disturb him during her sleep.
But her husband was so adamant about being with her that she relented.
Soon, she felt drowsy and fell into a peaceful sleep.
Ethan then opened his eyes and kissed her cheek. He wanted to check on his subordinates, as he was worried about their situation.
He left carefully, afraid of disturbing his wife, and went to Paradise Hospital.
