Chapter 155: Finally, seeing wife..
The moment Ethan entered the space, he was enveloped by a warm sensation.
The air, which had once smelled pleasant, now felt soothing and relaxing to inhale.
He could sense that something had changed in the space, but he couldn’t quite pinpoint what it was, as everything seemed to remain the same.
However, he brushed his curiosity aside, focusing instead on finding his wife as soon as possible.
Meanwhile, Elena waited for him at their portable house, curious about why her husband had chosen to meet in space instead of at Grandpa’s unit.
Suddenly, Poochi rushed up and leaped joyfully, barking as he saw his master.
"Aw~aww~awww!"
’Master, you’re finally here! Mistress has missed you so much.’
He circled around Ethan playfully as they made their way back to the portable house.
"Alright, stop jumping around. You’re not a monkey," Ethan teased, chuckling at the dog’s antics.
It seemed that Poochi grew more energetic with each passing day.
With little to do but take care of his adopted brothers, he was starting to get a bit chubby.
’Maybe it’s time to find someone who can discipline him properly. Perhaps a beautiful dog.’
Ethan thought, considering the idea as they continued their walk.
Unaware of his fate, Poochi happily barked, urging his master to hurry.
Elena watched as her husband hurried to meet her, a smile spreading across her face at his eagerness to reunite.
"Wife," Ethan said, his smile filled with longing, feeling as though the eight hours of waiting had stretched into a lifetime.
This was the first time he had been away from his beloved wife, and while some might call it clingy, he didn’t care; he simply loved her so much.
To Elena’s surprise, as he drew nearer, she caught the scent of medical ointment mingling with the unmistakable reek of blood.
’What happened? I was just gone for eight hours. Why is he injured? Did he get wild looking for me?’
"Are you okay? Why are you injured, husband?" Elena asked, her confusion quickly giving way to concern for his well-being.
Ethan had tried to hide his injury by wearing a hoodie, but his wife could still tell something was wrong.
He was amazed at her perceptiveness, but seeing the worry etched on her face compelled him to reveal the situation.
Unbeknownst to him, Elena had already awakened her ability, making her significantly stronger than any average human—ten times stronger, in fact.
She could empower them with brute force, and even Ethan would stand little chance against her.
Her senses were also greatly enhanced, five times that of an average human. So, hiding anything from her was futile.
Ethan then recounted what had happened earlier. "While you were in Paradise, some robbers raided our floor, and we fought back."
He continued to explain how the situation unfolded and the injuries they sustained.
At first, Elena did not react, understanding that confrontations like this would be normal in the future and that some injuries were to be expected.
However, when she heard that Ramon was in critical condition and currently being operated on by Aunt Liza, her demeanor quickly shifted to one of deep concern.
"By the way, was the Golden Tablet successfully upgraded, wife?" Ethan asked, trying to change the subject to ease her worries.
But Elena wasn’t swayed; she insisted on knowing about his well-being.
"Well, let’s talk about that later. For now, let me see your injury, and please drink this modified well water," she said, handing him a cup of water.
"Wife, I’m fine. Just some bruises," Ethan replied, attempting to reassure her.
Elena looked at him, not believing his words.
With the smell of blood surrounding him, she knew he was injured more seriously than he was letting on.
"No, I’m going to apply this well water on you. Trust me, this one is different. Its healing properties are much more powerful than the previous one. One of the perks after upgrading the Golden Tablet to Tier 1," she insisted.
Seeing his wife so resolute, he knew she wouldn’t take no for an answer. Reluctantly, he began to remove his clothes.
But Elena simply waved her hand, and his clothes vanished. She then glanced at the bandaged injuries around his body.
There were still spots of blood on the bandages, indicating that the wounds were fresh and not yet fully healed.
"You call these bruises, Ethan? Just look at your condition! How can you dare say you’re fine? And on top of that, you’re moving as if you’re not injured at all!" Elena reprimanded him for his reckless attitude while expressing concern for his condition.
"Wife, please don’t get angry. Remember, the baby might be listening."
"Husband, you need to take care of yourself. Do you still want to see your child later on?"
"Of course, wife. My daughter still needs me. Ouch... be careful, please!"
Upon hearing him call the baby ’daughter,’ she felt a surge of annoyance.
What if the baby were a boy? Hmph, she needed to teach this big man a lesson.
She knew that every time they were in bed, Ethan would caress her belly and educate his supposed daughter about not letting her get too tired.
Aside from that, he also begged her not to crave any more weird food, believing that Elena didn’t particularly like those strange dishes.
It was only when the baby was conceived that her taste changed, so he thought the baby must be the one wanting the weird food.
At first, Elena almost laughed at her husband’s antics, but then her mood shifted.
She realized that Ethan was blaming their unborn child for her eating habits, so she decided to let him sleep in the other room as punishment.
Since that day, Ethan has never reprimanded the baby again; otherwise, he would face his wife’s wrath.
"What daughter? I told you we don’t know the gender yet. How can you say the baby is a girl? What if it turns out to be a boy?"
"Wife, I was wrong," Ethan replied, a smile breaking across his face as he finally managed to divert his wife’s attention away from her worries about him.
Elena shot him a glare but continued to apply the well water to his injured body gently.
"Alright, stay here and rest. I will check on the situation outside."
"Wife, I’ll join you. My injury may look serious, but in fact, it’s just—"
"Stop. Husband, just listen to me. Take a rest; I will return soon, okay?"
She understood that Ethan was eager to be by her side, perhaps shaken by her sudden disappearance.
However, given his condition, she wanted him to sleep and regain his strength.
"Alright," he finally conceded.
Seeing him agree, Elena sighed in relief and began to prepare the bed for him.
Afterward, she kissed him goodnight and exited the space.
As soon as she stepped outside, all eyes turned to her.
The children crowded around, asking where she had been, their faces filled with worry since they hadn’t seen her for hours.
She reassured them that she was fine.
Meanwhile, the adults felt a wave of relief at her return, but their expressions remained somber as they glanced at the makeshift operating room.
Elena noticed their tense faces and couldn’t help but overthink.
’Did something happen to Ramon?’
"What is happening?"
