Chapter 49: Ryland’s Jealousy

As she continued speaking, a warm, sweet smile slowly spread across Abigail’s beautiful face.

"But don’t worry, Mr. Bennet. Even though I no longer work at Urbangrid Innovation, I will keep my promise to assist you. However, if you want to contact me, please reach out on my mobile phone. You have my personal number now, right, sir?"

Ryland gritted his teeth, silently listening to Abigail’s words.

’What the heck? Is this woman trying to sabotage Andy Bennet? And what’s with that smile? Is she trying to seduce this rich man after leaving me?’ Instantly, he felt jealous.

Andy Bennet’s laugh echoed in the room, surprising Ryland with his reaction.

Ryland had expected Andy Bennet to be angry with Abigail for her audacity in asking a high-profile CEO like him to call her personal cell phone.

Did she not realize that someone like Andy Bennet would never contact others directly? He even constantly communicated with Andy Bennet’s secretary regarding project updates.

As he looked at Andy Bennet, Ryland braced himself for his response.

"Of course, I have your cell phone number, Ms. Snow," Andy Bennet said, his laughter fading. He raised his ocha glass in a toast to her. "Sure, I will call you later to discuss this matter. And, Ms. Snow, you know what? I appreciate your honesty..."

Ryland’s jaw dropped at how casually this man spoke with Abigail. He started to suspect that Andy liked Abigail. Seriously?

’Does this man know that Abigail is my fiancée? And he still tries to flirt with her?’ Ryland wondered, feeling as if someone had rubbed a lemon on his wounded heart. He clenched his fist, glancing at Abigail, and his expression soured instantly at the sight of her lovely smile at Andy Bennet.

"Thank you, sir," Abigail said, beaming at Andy Bennet’s warm reaction. "Oh, right, sir. I understand I can’t force you to continue cooperating with Urbangrid Innovation. Still, I hope you haven’t canceled the project with them. Please—" she pleaded with her miserable-looking gaze.

Abigail had promised Ryland that she would ensure Andy Bennet didn’t stop the project, and this was her last chance to do something for the company.

"No worries, I will not cancel the contract as long as they don’t breach any clauses stated within it. However, you must fulfill my request as well. You need to help me with another new project. What do you say, Ms. Snow?"

Andy Bennet locked eyes with Abigail, feeling anxious that she might refuse his request.

When Ryland heard Andy Bennet’s words, he suddenly felt like flying high, soaring to cloud nine. This is precisely what he wanted to hear. His Million-Dollar project was continuing without any considerable delay.

What made Ryland even happier was that Andy Bennet wanted to collaborate with Abigail on another project. Did this mean Urbangrid would be assigned to it? This was something he didn’t expect.

Unable to contain his excitement, Ryland interrupted Abigail, who was about to respond to Andy Bennet.

"Mr. Bennet, thank you so much for the first project. No worries, sir; Abigail will design your second project, and I guarantee that Urbangrid Innovation will provide our best services to build it," Ryland said, a broad smile revealing his neat white teeth. He felt like he’d hit the jackpot.

However, Andy Bennet slowly frowned upon hearing Ryland’s words.

"Mr. Wood, it seems you misunderstood my statement," Andy Bennet said, his lips forming a half-smile. He didn’t like this young man.

He decided to give Urbangrid Innovation a chance solely because he knew the company through a friend who had an office in the same building. When Andy saw Abigail’s design, he immediately allowed this small company to build his summer vacation house. So, it was all because of Abigail, not because of Urbangrid or this inexperienced small-company CEO.

Ryland was taken aback by Andy Bennet’s words. Confused by his stiff expression, he asked politely, "Pardon me, sir?"

Andy Bennet took a sip of his warm ocha before responding firmly, "Even though I asked Ms. Snow to draw a new project for me, I do not plan to use your company to build my second project, Mr. Wood."

Ryland instantly felt as if a rock was stuck in his throat. He was embarrassed and wanted to dig his own grave. How could he forget about that? He was too happy that this man hadn’t canceled their cooperation and thought he could use Urbangrid Innovation to build his second project.

"I asked Miss Abigail to draw the building I want to build, not your company services. And since she no longer works for your company, I won’t discuss it right now," Andy Bennet said, gazing gently toward Abigail. "Are you willing to accept my request, Ms. Snow?"

Abigail felt like she was in a dream, hearing it directly from him. She had already heard about it from Milan but hadn’t taken Milan’s word too seriously. Now, it seemed everything was real.

’Oh my God... Did God help me again? This man truly wants to ask me to draw his second project,’ Abigail couldn’t help but feel overjoyed in her heart.

"Yes, sir, I will accept your offer." Her smile was as bright as spring, and her eyes sparkled as she looked at him.

"Perfect!" Andy Bennet replied, pleased to hear her confirmation. "I will contact you later to discuss this new project, Ms. Snow."

"Thank you, sir." Abigail could hardly contain her happiness. She could imagine that the payment from this new project would cover her Grandma’s nursing home expenses for the next few months.

Abigail was so caught up in her happiness that she didn’t notice Ryland’s sour expression. Later, she felt his hand touch her back, which surprised her. She immediately turned to confront him, showing her displeasure.

When she noticed him pull his hand away, she turned her attention back to Andy Bennet.

Abigail asked Andy about the revisions he needed.

They chatted for almost an hour on the topic. Andy conveyed every revision he wanted, and she briefly outlined the effect of his request on the project, including whether what he wanted was possible given his budget and timeframe.

After all that, Abigail excused herself. She didn’t want to linger in that place any longer than needed.

"Thank you for your brief, detailed, easy-to-grasp explanation, Ms. Snow. I promise I will call you soon. Thank you again for making yourself available to attend this meeting," Andy Bennet said warmly, shaking her hand.

"I’m glad I could help, Mr. Bennet," Abigail answered politely before she left.
