Chapter 260: A sneaky Andy
"Andy, I heard that you wanted to eat here?" Amir said, looking around Maxwell to speak to him. Andrew nodded, his hand firmly on Maxwell’s thigh as he spoke to Amir as everyone else chatted amongst each other.
Amir’s face looked a little pale, a little drained. He looked tired, and thinner compared to when he had last seen him. He had heard that Amir had pretty terrible morning sickness, and that appeared to be taking a toll on him. Andrew felt a little bad for the other man.
"Yes. I had a good experience here last time, and then uh..." Andrew trailed off, a little awkward as Andrew spoke. Maxwell, in between the two of them as they spoke, laughed.
"Andrew asked me to meet him here when we were having our rough patch." Maxwell told Amir with a smile. Amir’s eyes widened, and he pushed up his own glasses nervously.
"Oh. I see. Did you...have a good time?" He asked awkwardly and Maxwell laughed.
"Well, you could say that." Maxwell said warmly. "I threw up." He said, and others who hadn’t heard about it, since neither Maxwell nor Andrew had spoken about it, jerked towards them.
"What? You threw up?" Ben asked, horrified and Maxwell chuckled.
"I was, literally, worried sick." Maxwell teased, turning towards Andrew and reaching out, giving his shoulder a squeeze. "Andy handled it quite well, as did the staff. Beyond that, the food was good, and I understand why Andy wanted to bring me here." Maxwell said with a smile.
It took everyone else a while to get over what he had said. Obviously, they were worried about something in particular, but Maxwell shot them down, even more so as the waiter came in to get drink orders.
Andrew didn’t order alcohol again, trying to be safe, and when it came to Amir he asked if they had any fun, zero proof cocktails. Andrew hopped onto that bandwagon once he heard the waiter list off the drinks. Amir was happy to have a companion joining him in the not drinking club, and Jordan also joined that club. Richard teased him, wondering if they also had an announcement to make and Jordan just turned a brighter shade.
So did Rose.
That sent the whole room in an uproar and Rose was the one to shut it down, even as her face turned red.
"We aren’t yet, but we’re...fuck. We’re trying." Rose muttered, her face flaming as Jordan ducked his head into his hands. May, who apparently was hearing about this for the first time, had a silly, stupid grin on her face.
"What? I thought you two weren’t planning on having kids?" May asked, clearly not upset in the slightest. Rose was blushing to her roots as the waiter quietly got orders from everyone else. Andrew wasn’t able to ignore them since they were an alpha, and even while listening to the others, he had to keep an eye on them.
"Well...we’re allowed to change our minds, aren’t we?" Rose said, defending her and Jordan. Andrew did feel bad for Jordan. He was a quiet type, and having this much focus on him was clearly not good for him.
"You are, Rose. That’s perfectly okay, but can we stop teasing them? Jordan does not appear well, and if they are trying, him being under stress isn’t going to help." Andrew scolded, and May had to take a moment to compose herself. It wasn’t like she was the only one.
Ford was beside himself, and so were the others as well. Luis looked so excited, and Jenny had a sparkle in her eyes. Kim, like Andrew, hadn’t calmed down completely yet, but even she seemed to be pleased.
"Andrew’s right. Especially as a male omega, we should be saving the teasing for after. After all, none of us are teasing Amir, are we?" Ben said, a small smile on his lips. Amir smiled warmly as well.
"We should leave couples to their life planning. They will tell us when they are ready." Amir, the man everyone was now looking at, said with a smile. His eyes were warm as he looked at Jordan and Rose. "But, if you two have any questions, don’t be afraid to ask. Jordan, do you want my phone number?" Amir asked and Jordan peered around his fingers, his face as bright as a tomato before he nodded.
Amir and Jordan exchanged phones as the waiter left the room, their notepad in hand. Andrew let out a small breath, relief filling him until he heard the small chuckle from Kim.
"I think you should make sure you have someone giving you a ride back to your house after your Doctor’s meeting. I doubt that the interaction today in any way helped." Kim said, her own eyes amber. Jenny squeezed her hand.
"He’s okay, Kim." Jenny said softly and Kim gave her a weak smile. It was Ben who asked the question.
"So what exactly happened? I heard there was an altercation, and that we were suing a realtor agency, but nothing detailed." Ben said, glancing around the room, but his gaze was focused on the two true alphas who were still on edge. Maxwell let out a deep, long sigh.
"Don’t worry, Kim, I’ve already arranged that. I’ve also considered not letting Andy come to the meeting with me, but I also think this is important for us to do. We...need it." Maxwell said before he slid his gaze to Andrew. "I will tell you about what happened, but I also want it to be known that I will stop if it is upsetting Andy. I don’t want to make him more upset than he still is." Maxwell was clearly laying down the law about speaking of the whole situation.
Andrew felt his heart warm at how protective Maxwell was being of him. He loved the feeling of it. He was delighted that Maxwell was staring around the room, his gaze serious, even though he was also involved in the situation.
Andrew bent, pressing his face against Maxwell’s shoulder, hiding his smile against his clothes.
"It’s okay, Maxy. You just speak and tell the whole story and I’ll just...breathe, okay?" Andrew sighed, letting Maxwell take over as he did just as he said. He breathed.
He let the others order food as well, happy to hand over the task to someone else. He did have to leave to go to the bathroom at one point, and during that time he hunted down his waiter and let him know that he would be paying for the bill, not anyone else in the room.
The waiter had been intimidated at first, until Andrew remembered that he should probably smile. He also let the waiter know, since they were an alpha, that he was a little rough around the edges because his rut was near. As soon as he spoke of common ground, the waiter relaxed, and promised that she would try to stay away from his partner as much as she could.
Andrew was grateful that they were so understanding, and that they were going to go to him when the time came.
When Andrew snuck back into the room, no one was the wiser. It wasn’t until Andrew texted Maxwell what he had done that Maxwell jerked. Then, he turned and kissed Andrew on the cheek, chuckling. He didn’t give it away, but Andrew smiled, happy that Maxwell was happy that he had been sneaky.
It was a simple thing, and something that Andrew wanted to do especially after everyone had come to his aid as soon as everything went south. Kim especially, so Andrew asked Maxwell, over text, to make sure that Kim and the others ordered the bottles of wine that they wanted, and the alcohol that they wanted. He even asked Maxwell to suggest some whiskeys, and also, out loud, encouraged Maxwell to have a drink if he wanted to.
Andrew knew that Maxwell was being careful. He knew that he was being considerate. Andrew didn’t mind. He knew Maxwell enjoyed whiskey, and a few wouldn’t hurt him, especially with food. It took some prodding, but he was able to get him to have fun, and let loose.
It wasn’t as if he was the only one who was affected by that freak, and everyone else knew that as well. Even if Maxwell was used to that kind of harassment, that didn’t mean that it was okay, and Andrew wasn’t at his full capacity to support him the way that he wanted to.
The night ended quietly, easily, and Andrew and Maxwell received a message from Michael shortly before the bill arrived. The condoms had arrived, and he wanted to swing by now that he had the box. freewebnσvel.cøm
So Maxwell and Andrew rushed to get ’their bill’ and get someone to come by and give them a ride home. Thomas was ready to offer one of his drivers, who he already had on speed dial. Maxwell was hesitant, but Andrew accepted right away, wanting to make a quick escape since he was also putting his card on file so that they could change him if they drank more. Thomas had basically offered them an escape car to get out of a situation where others could be mad at him. Andrew was going to take it.
Grinning like a madman, Maxwell was holding his hand as they fled as a few others had also asked for their bill shortly after they had left.
"Oh, I can’t wait for them to get mad." Andrew whispered to Maxwell conspiratorially, and Maxwell blinked, before he grinned as well.
"You’re going to get in so much trouble." Maxwell whispered back in the face of Andrew’s pure, happy grin. Maxwell wasn’t able to resist kissing him on the cheek and Andrew felt like he could fight god. He was so happy with how the day had ended, even if it had been a damn shit show.
