Chapter 265: Connect

No one can see her anymore and she seems to be something totally invisible. This was too shocking but she also understands one thing— that she’s finally gone.

Yu Anli stayed beside her body for some quiet time and she witnessed her family fall into despair again. Her father couldn’t bear and had a heart attack while her siblings seemed to have lost something to move forward.

And she blamed herself for this fate. If she was only stronger, if she had just endured every pain from the last riot and persevered, she may still be alive.

They won’t worry too much and can just focus on building the family again. But what did she do? She gave them another heartbreaking blow again and Yu Anli didn’t know how they would receive her death.

Seeing them breaking one by one made her feel like her dead heart was revived again only to feel the endless pain inside her.

Thus she chose to leave the house and wandered around aimlessly.

Yu Anli became lost about what to do in her situation. No one could see her, hear or even notice her presence. She didn’t know how to end this situation.

Until she happened to see an advertiser from that familiar competition that was Pei Roujin’s project. She remembered how he adored all the trainees and trained them sincerely. If not for a trainee’s connection to that Sheng family, she’s sure that he won’t leave until he’ll see them debut.

Yu Anli just didn’t know what to do and thus decided to go to the training camp.

She mainly wanted to tour around the building but unexpectedly something happened.

However after that nothing happened to her and the body she possessed so she relaxed a bit and continued her planned tour for now.

Who would have thought again that the trainee that Brother Pei said he welcomed the most would trick her inside the room and even know what’s going on with her?!

Yu Anli stood horrified while looking at the young man in front of her right now.

"Accompany? What do you mean by accompanying Teacher Pei?" Qin An asked again.

"U-Uhm, I thought that since the Sheng family incident was cleared up, Brother Pei will surely come back here to be part of the competition again." Yu Anli quickly explained not noticing the odd expression on the young man’s face.

"C-Can I just watch him? I really really like Brother Pei!" She asked but instead of directly answering her, Qin An showed a bit of hesitation.

Yu Anli thought that he was worried that she would cause trouble so she immediately pleaded with him. "I won’t get close to him! I promise to you!"

She didn’t know how long she would stay in this body or in this soul state but she really just wanted to see him. It’s not that bad, right? She would certainly not cause any trouble—

"I think it’s too late for your request." Qin An’s voice interrupted her thoughts.

She frowned. What’s too late?

Qin An looked at the ghost and sighs before slowly explaining to her the real situation.

"Teacher Pei is already dead."

"!!!"

As Yu Anli listened to the words he said, her expression turned into disbelief, horror and despair. Her pale face seemed to grow paler especially when the young man spoke the last words.

Dead?! Brother Pei is dead?!

And it was even a suicide!

Brother Pei really did that to himself?!

"N-No way..." Yu Anli couldn’t believe the horror of the things that’s happening to her and around her right now.

Why? Why did he choose to do it?!

Why did he leave?

Why didn’t he keep his promise to stay by their side?

"If you want to talk to him, I can help you." Qin An offered after the long silence.

"... P-Please do so."

Because Qin An and others had to go back to the training camp, Pei Roujin and Pei Rouyao also came with them. After what happened at the hospital, the little girl was still angry at the man and refused to talk to him leaving Pei Roujin helpless at the situation.

When he found out his location, the latter was on the balcony and just staring straight out from nothing.

"B-Brother Pei?" Yu Anli’s voice cracked again. She was still somehow hoping that the young man was just tripping her as they walked but now that what’s in front of her was really the truth, she still felt a complete disbelief.

So he’s really dead?

Pei Roujin heard the voice and turned his back. His reaction was confusion at her sight so she mustered up courage and went closer.

"Brother Pei..." she calls for him softly. "I couldn’t believe I’d come to see you in this way."

"Who are you?"

She smiles. "Brother Pei, I’m a fan of yours."

He was stunned.

"Why?" Yu Anli softly asked the young man. At first Pei Roujin didn’t get what she asked but when he looked into the girl’s eyes, he saw himself in her state.

A soul.

Her reddened eyes became misty, it was full of questioning, sadness and helplessness that strike him.

"..." Pei Roujin finally knew what she meant and didn’t know what to say.

How will he explain? How will he let them understand the decision he made?

Was he really selfish?

Seeing her idol didn’t know what to say, Yu Anli sighs and looks away.

"I didn’t really know what to do in my life." She decided to tell her story. "I was left with no other choice but to live a life that’s not even worth remembering to. I lived in a very small world and all I could do was to shrink inside my bubble."

Because of her condition and her long stay in the hospital, Yu Anli hadn’t experienced any full childhood memories for himself.

She lived just wondering again and again.

"When I saw you, you made me realize how I am supposed to accept what life gave me. Freedom isn’t just about going everywhere around this world but just being freed from the darkest chain inside us." She smiles sweetly again. "Brother Pei, you saved me."

"..." Pei Roujin was just dumbfounded.

"Every time I saw you doing the things you love, it encouraged me to work harder for myself. Didn’t you say it a long time ago? Being an actor makes you feel alive for countless times and that’s what drives you harder. So I am also finding what can make me feel alive as I live in that small world."

Having the time on her hand, Yu Anli gave it all and found various types of small doings. Painting, writer carving, knitting— anything she could think of to find a hobby that can strum something on her heart.

And she did.

Yu Anli fell in love with painting.

She started to feel the butterflies on her stomach when she finished a piece that satisfied her.

A hunger to work harder and continuously arouse her spirit to be the best.

Yu Anli finally found her will to live with the paintings she creates.

While of course looking at Pei Roujin everyday.

"N-Now we’re on the same page..." Yu Anli paused. "I couldn’t really just believe we’ll have to meet like this."

Pei Roujin lowered his head. "I-I’m sorry..."

"No," she shook her head. "You don’t have to apologize. I know how hard it is to lose someone dear. Brother Pei, that was where your heart wants to go— how can I? How can we bear not to understand you?"

There will be a lot of people who’ll feel disappointed and despair but she thinks it was only normal. To feel an immense surge of sadness because of someone’s passing means one truly cares for it. Their feelings are certainly valid.

But just as she felt connected with Pei Roujin, she also knew how much he cares for his family.

Brother Pei had always led them to somewhere they could smile and have courage.

All these years, he held the threads tightly to connect with them.

This time, he chose to tie the thread of his life to his family again.

"B-Brother Pei, it hurts..." Tears started streaming down from her eyes. "I-It hurts us so much how we ended like this. But please don’t be too sad for us. We love you with all our hearts."
