Chapter 59: Dinner frёeweɓηovel_coɱ
When they arrived, Kiyoshi followed Haruki to the front door of the penthouse before turning to leave as soon as Haruki went through the door.
Haruki walked in casually to see the man in the kitchen prepping their meal. The man wore a black apron over a simple turtle neck and dress pants. His back facing the counter looked well defined as the man’s shoulder moved with ease.
The sound of utensils clinking echoed softly. Haruki watched the man for a while, but he didn’t seem to notice his presence as he continued. Haruki furrowed his brow slightly before walking upstairs to change his clothes.
When he got back, the air downstairs was filled with the gentle aroma of a freshly prepared meal. The table had been set, but the man was nowhere to be found. A bit confused, he looked around before sitting at the head of the table.
The man walked out of the guestroom before Haruki could begin eating. He placed the knife and fork he picked up down and raised his head to meet the man’s gaze.
The man seemed to be taken aback when their gaze met as he reached to his ears to remove a pair of ear pods.
"When did you arrive?" the doctor asked, his deep, soothing voice filling the room as he approached.
"Almost half an hour ago," Haruki responded almost too coldly.
The man walked to him and stood by his side before leaning towards Haruki. He watched Haruki closely as Haruki held his gaze without avoiding him. "Have I earned a space beside you as your partner?" the man asked abruptly.
Haruki’s brow furrowed at that question not expecting the words that escaped the man’s lips. That was a good question but this was the first time anyone asked him such a question unabashed. When Shinya asked him if they were boyfriends, he blushed so hard he almost resembled ripe cherry tomatoes.
Hiroshi could easily notice the man’s thoughts straying as he asked, "We are partners, right?"
"Sex partners," Haruki replied, leaning back as Hiroshi leaned closer.
"Oh... yeah, sex partners," Hiroshi said calmly, leaning even closer, seemingly unaffected by Haruki’s cold tone and words. "Does that mean I can kiss you?" he asked Haruki and without waiting for a response, he leaned forward and placed a light feathery kiss against Haruki’s lips.
It lasted only for a couple of seconds before the man moved away from Haruki and sat down. "I heard you had all your other sex partners sign a contract but I did not get any," Hiroshi said as he reached for his knife and fork.
Haruki wondered what the doctor was trying to imply with that statement. He was right about him ensuring his past partners signed a contract to prevent any future issues that could lead them to sue him or try defaming him.
Many things could go wrong between him and those people. They were strangers and they could be like Shinya or Shinya’s brother and it was best to have something to prevent him from being involved with a criminal case over having sex partners.
There were more pros than cons with signing a contract before even letting them on his bed and he could not even mention a con connected to protecting himself but he has been with Hiroshi several times and from the first day he touched him in the restroom, he did not even think of having him sign a contract or even a nondisclosure agreement.
It might have been purely instinct, or because Hiroshi did not go through Kiyoshi who was always sure to enforce such things, he could also blame it on the fact that Hiroshi was already working for him but that was not enough justification for such a mistake.
"I don’t want to sign one," Hiroshi murmured after taking the first slice of the steak on his plate.
Haruki narrowed his eyes and unconsciously leaned forward as he asked, "Why?"
"Everyone likes something that makes them a bit different from everyone else and if it is not having to sign anything while being your sex partner, I don’t want to sign anything," he said firmly.
He took note of the man’s indication that it would not last forever and he was both impressed by it and annoyed by it. He blinked slightly clearing his mind of every thought as the man’s presence was not wanted to agitate him but help him relax.
Haruki decided to ignore the man’s words and the issue of signing any document between them as he began eating.
The doctor stopped eating and leaned backward watching Haruki as he took the first bite of his dinner. Hiroshi leaned forward, his elbows resting on the table, his chin resting on the back of his hands as he watched intently.
Haruki raised his head to look at him. He cocked his brow slightly, as he gave Hiroshi a cold, deadened stare while he chewed.
Hiroshi’s eyes only brightened the more he watched, he was so close to blurting out that Haruki was simply too beautiful to be human.
"What do you want?" Haruki hissed slightly.
"Nothing," the doctor responded moving his elbow and picking up his cutlery again. "What do you think of my choice for dinner?"
"Delicious," Haruki responded a bit too sincerely. He met the man’s gaze when he realized that he had been a bit too sincere with his compliment.
"Wow, I got such praise, does that mean you like Western food better?"
"No, any is fine," Haruki gave him a calm response his anger at the man’s gaze dispersing.
"Does that mean I’m allowed to cook for you?"
"Mmh."
The man could not hold back his smile and Haruki got to see his dimple before the man continued eating.
"Get us a bottle of wine," Haruki ordered when they were halfway through their meal.
The doctor did not hesitate to stand up at Haruki’s command and went away to get them a bottle of wine from the Kitchen Wine Rack. He brought a bottle back but Haruki shook his head and stood up. He opened a concealed door leading to a walk-in cellar.
Hiroshi followed him in and could only gasp at the collection. "I’m glad Kiyoshi chose this penthouse. It’s where I keep my collection."
It was more than he had ever imagined, LED strips traced the edges of each floating metal rack casting a soft glow on rows of carefully arranged bottles. Labels from different parts of the world faced forward in a perfect alignment, the space was climate-controlled, silent but alive with sophistication.
Hiroshi glanced at Haruki a bit taken aback the more he looked around the large room with glass design each side having a reflection of the other side.
"You seem taken aback," Haruki said leisurely making it almost impossible to hear the pride in his voice.
Hiroshi chuckled lightly before nodding, "I did not expect you to have such a collection."
After Hiroshi spoke, he remembered who he was talking to in terms of wealth, he should expect more than this but the pride in Haruki’s voice made it sound like Haruki had personally acquired every bottle in the room and that was what he could not believe.
"It was fun to buy them, each of them has a backstory," Haruki told him after taking one of the bottles of wine.
Hiroshi’s gaze had long moved to Haruki who seemed to glow brighter talking about something he seemed to like. He wanted to ask him more questions but he felt the need to be cautious and not greedy after all, he earned himself the position of sex partner.
As much as the title should hurt, he felt an overwhelming joy. He might still be unimportant but he was not insignificant. He was Haruki’s sex partner! No longer just his doctor, he was his partner—if you ignored the first word.
He smiled broadly as he followed Haruki out of the cellar.
Haruki and Hiroshi both froze in their tracks when they got to the dining table. They had a guest sitting at the other end of the table opposite where Haruki sat.
The old man was not the only one in the house with them, he must have brought his guards along as six men dressed in black suits stood behind the man armed with guns they did not bother to conceal.
Haruki succeeded at keeping his face void of emotion even in such an act of intimidation. "Who are you?" he asked as he walked to his seat and sat calmly. He was very familiar with the identity of the man at the table but being the intruder, he refused to give the man the courtesy of recognition.
The man laughed chillingly as he watched Haruki calmly place the bottle of wine on the table.
Haruki raised his gaze to Hiroshi who was standing protectively beside him and ordered, "Open the wine our meal must have turned cold already." Haruki naturally reached for his cutlery.
